1 Agilent Installation InfinityLab Checklist LC Series Thank you for purchasing an Agilent instrument solution. This checklist is used by the installing engineer to ensure that the instrument and associated systems are correctly installed, upgraded and functioning as designed in your facility. This checklist will be completed at the end of the service and provided to you as a record of the installation. Customer Information Customers should provide all necessary operating supplies upon request of the engineer. Service Engineer s Responsibilities Only complete/printout sections or pages that relate to the system that has been installed. Complete empty fields with the relevant information. Complete the relevant checkboxes in the checklist using a X or tick mark in the checkbox. Complete Not Applicable check boxes to indicate services not delivered, as needed Complete the Service Review section together with the customer. In case of diagnostic tests, record test results in section service review (test results). System Information Guidance: Check box if instrument configuration report is attached instead of completing the table below. Instrument System Name/I.D: Record the list of system component product numbers below. Instrument Location: List the serial numbers of the components present in the system below

2 General Preparation Unpack/verify the condition and completeness of shipment. For discrepancies, use the table below. Product/Part Description Observation Action Discuss any specific questions or issues with the customer prior to starting. Discuss any configuration options with the customer prior to starting Check for required service note applicability and firmware updates if connecting to instruments. When plumbing the customers system, make sure that the relevant capillary kit and instructions are used. If you use the PC or the Instant Pilot for firmware updates, use the correct date/time. Check that customer-supplied PC hardware meets minimum requirements e.g. Site Preparation Tool Upgrades only - Ensure with customer that instrument control settings, data, methods etc have been properly saved or archived prior to starting any installation procedures. The installation of ELSD drivers depends upon the customer's choice of software platform. If OpenLAB version A is installed then ELSD drivers' version 1.2 is installed as part of the installation. An UPGRADE to 1.3 will be seen during the new install. If a THIRD PARTY software package is used a minimum of ICF A is required. Agilent Information Center Install the Agilent Information Center to the PC controlling the system. OR If this is not permitted, install the Agilent Information Center to a different PC. OR If this is also not permitted, use the installation medium ( Agilent InfinityLab LC Series User Documentation (G )) to view the required user documentation. Record the location to which the Agilent Information Center has been installed. OR If the Agilent Information Center has not been installed, record that the installation medium has been delivered, and keep it close to the instrumentation for future reference.

3 G7122A Degasser Set up the degasser(s) solvent inlet/outlet Prime each channel with isopropanol from solvent bottle to pump inlet.

4 G7120A High Speed Pump, G7104A/C Flexible Pump Set up the pump solvent inlet/outlet tubing waste and seal wash sensor outlet remote control (if used) CAN connect LAN NOTE Agilent LAN connection is made between one (1) of the Agilent Infinity II modules and the Agilent Control Software PC. If a detector is installed connect the LAN to this module. fill each channel with Isopropanol from solvent bottle to degassing unit inlet Prepare the pump prepare solvents turn on module activate Prime configure the purge activate the purge condition the pump, the tuning should be between ±0.2

5 G7110B Isocratic Pump, G7111A Quaternary Pump VL, G7111B Quaternary Pump, G5654A Bio-inert Pump, G7112B Binary Pump Install optional field upgrade kits for Active Seal Wash (G1398A/G1399A): Install seal wash pump head parts. Install the seal wash pump motor and peristaltic pump. Install tubing connections for the ASW. After completing the pump installation, run a leak rate test. Set up the pump(s) solvent inlet/outlet waste drain remote control (ERI) (if used) seal wash tubing (if installed) CAN connect LAN NOTE Agilent LAN connection is made between one (1) of the Agilent Infinity II modules and the Agilent Control Software PC. If a detector is installed, connect the LAN to this module. Install the solvent cabinet (optional). Priming the pump. Fill each channel with Isopropanol from solvent bottle to degassing unit inlet. Turn on the pump. Purge each channel for 3 min at 3 ml/min. After completing the stack installation, purge the complete system. Monitor the pressure, ripple should be <2 %.

6 G7129A/B/C Vialsampler G7129A/B/C Vialsampler Set up the sampler(s) solvent inlet multi-draw kit (if ordered) waste drain (must be in a straight line down, no bends, no kinks) - check manual for further info remote control (ERI) (if used) CAN LAN Prepare the sampler and fill the available channel with appropriate wash solvent from the solvent bottles. Turn on the module. Configure Prime Activate Prime ICC heater G7130 Set up the ICC heater G7130 Note the product number / Serial number of the Integrated Column Compartment heater install the solvent inlet/outlet Install the column Perform ICC Heater Test ICC Heater Test Pass/Fail

7 G7167A/B Multisampler, G5668A Bio-Inert Multisampler Perform an auto referencing under operating conditions. Set up the Multisampler(s) solvent inlet drawer configuration update (if necessary) multi-draw kit (if ordered) waste drain (must be in a straight line down, no bends, no kinks) - check manual for further info remote control (ERI) (if used) CAN LAN Prepare the sampler and fill the available channels with appropriate wash solvent from the solvent bottles Turn on the module. Configure Prime for the available channels Activate Prime for the available channels

8 G Sample Cooler CAUTION Damage to the multisampler or the sample cooler electronics Do not connect the Sample Cooler cables while the autosampler line power is connected. Wait at least 30 min before you switch on the compressor. Set up the Sample Cooler (the module is integrated in the sampler). Sample cooler power cable Sample cooler signal cable Sample cooler condensed water drain (must be in a straight line down, no bends, no kinks) - check the manual for further info NOTE Check the proper horizontal position NOTE Wait at least for 30 min before swichting on the sample cooler in the cds system Perform Sample Cooler Test. Sample Cooler Test Pass/Fail

9 G Sample Thermostat Section not applicable WARNING Flammable refrigerant Formation of flammable gas-air mixtures inside the sample thermostat. Keep open fire or sources of ignition away from the device. Ensure a room size of 1 m 3 for every 8 g of r600a refrigerant inside of the sample thermostat. Ensure adequate ventilation: typical air exchange of 25 m 3 /h per m 2 of laboratory floor area. Do not use mechanical devices or other means to accelerate the defrosting process. CAUTION Damage to the multisampler or the sample thermostat electronics Do not connect the Sample Thermostat cables while the autosampler line power is connected. Wait at least 30 min before you switch on the compressor. Set up the Sample Thermostat (the module is integrated in the sampler). Sample thermostat power cable Sample thermostat signal cable Sample thermostat condensed water drain (must be in a straight line down, no bends, no kinks) - check the manual for further info NOTE Check the proper horizontal position NOTE Wait at least 30 min before switching on the sample thermostat in the CDS system. Perform Sample Thermostat Function Test.

10 G7116A/B MCT Set up the MCT install the back side of the divider assembly install valve head product (see separate section) Note the product number / part number of the installed valve head (valve head part number or n/a) install the capillary kit, which belongs to the valve head product (if applicable) install the capillaries to heat exchanger install the heat exchanger install the column holders install the low dispersion heat exchangers (if applicable) install the heat exchanger with the InfinityLab Quick Turn Fitting (if applicable) connect the capillaries to the column, using the Infinity Lab Quick Connect or Quick Turn Fittings (if applicable) install the column into the column holders install the column ID Readers (if applicable), module has to be powerless Install the column ID Tag install the waste drain Install the CAN connection install the front cover of the divider assembly Turn on the module Perform Thermostat Test Thermostat Test Pass/Fail

15 G7121A FLD, G7121B FLD Spectra Set up the detector solvent inlet/outlet waste drain remote control (if used) analog output (if used) CAN connect LAN (the detector should be always the host of the LAN communication with the PC) Verify the operation of the detector. NOTE New instruments are shipped with a flow cell installed and have a factory wavelength calibration. If a flow cell is used other then the installed/shipped flow cell: verify that the installed flow cell is fixed very tight, perform a wavelength calibration using Glycogen (part of FLD Calibration Kit (G )). Perform the Lamp Intensity Test & compare profile Perform the Wavelength test Perform Verification Test using the Raman band. Lamp Intensity WL verification Pass/Fail Excitation Deviation Emission Deviation If test fails perform Wavelength Calibration.

16 G7162A/B RID Set up the detector NOTE Depending on the detector different inlet tubings are used (from the Accessory Kit): G7162A: Interfacing capillary (G ) G7162B: Capillary ST mm x 220 mm ( ) (Sampler to MCT/TCC) Capillary ST mm x 340 mm ( ) (Column to RID) Turn on the detector and heater as soon as possible (minimum one hour warm-up time). solvent inlet/outlet solvent recycle waste drain analog output (if used) CAN connect LAN (the detector should be always the host of the LAN communication with the PC) Verify the operation of the detector Diode Balance Value

17 G7102A, G426X A/B ELSD Set up the detector Verify that the instrument is the correct module for the regional voltage (120 V/240 V). Do NOT use instruments which have an incompatible voltage Connect the exhaust line to a fume hood or lab exhaust line Set the correct pressure at the regulator for the pressurized nitrogen line and connect it to the detector Install the capillary connection from detector to HPLC Install the RS-232 connection from detector to ChemStation control PC (if applicable) Install the Aux I/O cable connection from detector to the 1200 stack Connect the power lead Connect the front drain to the waste container/bottle Configure the detector in OpenLAB CDS ChemStation Edition or EZChrom Edition. "OpenLAB CDS ChemStation and EZChrom Edition, A Minimum". ELSD driver version 1.3 Installation is essential for data collection G7102A, G426X A/B Checkout Switch on the instrument Prepare the instrument: Set the detector nebulizer and evaporator temperature to 70 C, and gas flow to 1.60 SLM Wait until instrument ready status is displayed on front panel or PC Record 10 min of baseline noise. This is gas only noise and should be typically 0.5 LSU or 0.5 mv for G426X A/B (ASTM baseline noise). Set up a method for the checkout sample as below: Flush the system with Eluent for 15 min AND Verify instrument ready status is still displayed on front panel or PC In the instrument or system, set up a method using the following parameters: Pump: 1.00 ml/min of 100 % water. NOTE Depending on the flow rate setting, the system may overpressure and/or the PEEK fittings may not hold if pressures exceed 350 bar. If this happens, bypass the restriction capillary and guard column (usually for flow rates beyond 2.0 ml/min for UHPLC or 3.0 ml/min for HPLC). Injection Volume: 20.0 µl. NOTE The following parameters work well for the recommended default injection volume of 20.0 µl. However, a scouting run is always recommended because run time varies across systems. Evaluation Std.: 200 µg/ml caffeine standard (part# ) Restriction capillary: S/S restriction capillary (Part# )

18 ELSD Detector: Nebulizer Temperature: 70 C Evaporator Temperature: 70 C Gas Flow: 1.60 SLM Data Rate 10 Hz Smoothing 1 s PMT Gain 1 (No PMT Gain setting for G7102A) LED Intensity 100 %( No Laser setting for the Agilent G7102A or G4261B) Column Compartment: Column Temperature Stability (default is 40 C). If a column compartment is not installed, use ambient temperature. Run Time: 2.0 minutes (adjust if necessary) Table 1 Pass Specs Signal Noise and Drift ASTM baseline noise Slope of regression fit for drift Noise: LSU (or mv for G4260X A/B) Drift LSU/hr (or mv/hr for G4260X A/B) Injection Precision: Injection Volume = 20 µl Height RSD 3.00 % Area RSD 3.00 % Signal Height: 300mV LSU (or 300 mv for G426X A/B) Run a test measurement Attach results to installation documentation

Complete the Service Engineer Comments section below if there are additional comments. Review the installation or upgrade with the customer. Explain Agilent warranty for instruments. Explain how to use manuals, guides, online help. Explain how to get self-help, FAQs from the web. Explain how to log an instrument service call, support services available. Advise customer of additional instrument training options. If the instrument firmware was updated, record the details of the change in the Service Engineer Comments box below or if necessary, in the customer s IQ records.
