4 6 TRIFLOW CONCEPTS LIMITED Making History Triflow Concepts, formerly known as Avilion, is a true UK manufacturing success story. The company was established in 1978 as a brassware manufacturer, excelling in producing high quality engineering solutions. Whilst over the past decade many of its competitors chose to close their UK factories, transferring their manufacturing processes to the Far East or other low cost areas, Triflow Concepts took the decision to strengthen its position in the UK by significantly expanding its manufacturing base here at home. In 2006 Triflow Concepts expanded into a second manufacturing plant in Wolverhampton and acquired a sanitaryware manufacturing plant based in Tamworth, Staffordshire, at the very heart of the ceramics industry. Triflow Concepts is unique in that it controls 100% of the manufacturing process; from concept design through to casting, machining, polishing, plating, assembly, testing, packaging and logistics. We are one of the largest independent brassware manufacturer in the UK with the most technologically advanced machinery available and a highly skilled workforce. Innovation, rather than duplication has driven the company s expansion and this is exemplified by the invention of the Triflow in A concept as simple as it is brilliant, the Triflow is the world s first three-way tap, delivering not only hot and cold water but filtered water, through a dedicated waterway, from the same spout. This groundbreaking development has been one of the most significant changes to the industry and its strong patent remains unchallenged. In 1993, the company launched the Perrin & Rowe range of brassware for kitchen and bathroom. These products soon gained their position as market leaders in the luxury kitchen and bathroom brassware sectors and are specified by the most discerning architects and designers around the world. Pushing the Boundaries To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Triflow Concepts this year, the company has commissioned renowned architect Zaha Hadid to design two new models for Triflow. Depending on personal preference, either can be used in the kitchen or the bathroom. We are very proud of our cooperation with Zaha Hadid and identify with this architect whose designs consistently push the boundaries of architecture and design. We regard her endorsement as an affirmation of our own status as an innovative company rather than one that follows trends. This patented point of use water treatment system remains unchallenged and provides the solution to our increasing concerns about our drinking water sources. It incorporates the highest standard Swiss made ceramic filter which significantly reduces harmful substances such as chemical and biological contaminants as well as most heavy metals and particles as small as 0.2 microns, while leaving untouched beneficial minerals such as fluoride, magnesium and calcium. 8 14 15 The Science Behind Triflow The X02 series of ceramic filters incorporated in the Triflow filtration system is one of the highest performing filters available in the market today and is made by Swiss manufacturer Katadyn. The cartridge is made from sintered diatomaceous earth and has a micro porous structure impregnated with silver which is known for its bactericidal action. The pore size is able to eliminate particles down to 0.2 micron ( mm) in size. One pound of carbon contains a surface area of roughly 125 acres and can absorb literally thousands of different chemicals. Activated carbon is carbon which has a slight electro-positive charge added to it, making it even more effective in eliminating chemicals and impurities. As the water passes over the positively charged carbon surface, the negative ions of the contaminants are drawn to the surface of the carbon granules. New Electronic Filter Housing Designed to accompany the new electronic Triflow models, the sleek new filter housing is connected to the touch sensitive filtered water button on the electronic Triflow taps. The mains operated intelligent system makes the button glow green when activated and red when the filter needs replacing. It also maintains safe pressure levels when in use, reducing the pressure to near zero when switched off. Additionally, when the filter cartridge has been changed, the filter housing will automatically flush the correct amount of water through making it ready for use. The unit includes a battery as back up to ensure a fail safe system. Coli Protozoan Cysts such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium Pesticides and herbicides Solvents Benzene Radon Turbidity Heavy metals such as Lead The filter does NOT eliminate important minerals like magnesium, calcium and fluoride. How long does a cartridge last? For an average family of four persons, we recommend changing your water filter every six months. In order to make this more convenient, we offer our clients a free reminder service that their cartridge is due for replacement. The performance of any water treatment system will depend on the water quality before treatment as well as the temperature and flow rate. However, the Triflow filter will meet the needs of most end-users. In areas where there is an excessive amount of solids in the water, we recommend installing a pre-filter, which can also be supplied by Triflow Concepts. The new filter housing is only available with the new electronic Triflow taps, which includes our 2009 Innovation range and the Triflow by Zaha Hadid models. 9 ECOLOGY Water is a scarce resource; 1.1 Billion people on our planet don t have access to clean, safe drinking water. At Triflow Concepts we believe that access to drinking water is a human right and water is not a commodity that should be extracted from the ground of developing nations and sold to bottling companies. The use of Triflow makes it unnecessary to import water from exotic locations and contributes to a healthier water ecology.

10 18 19 THE TRIFLASK While you are at home, you can enjoy clean water from Triflow. When you are away from home, you want to have the same peace of mind. The last few years have seen a huge shift in attitude towards disposable bottles. Carrying disposable bottles is no longer the trend. Our passion for bottled water has had a heavy impact on our environment. In addition to the petroleum needed to produce the plastic bottles, a large amount of fuel is needed to transport glass and plastic bottles. Our landfills are nearing their maximum capacity. The disadvantages of plastic are not only environmental. Bisphenol-A (BPA) is linked to harmful hormone disruptions but recent research shows that this chemical that leaks from bottles made with polycarbonate may, cause heart disease. Other materials are not ideal either: Aluminium has been linked to Alzheimer s and glass is breakable. So we worked on producing a flask that is as healthy as it is environmentally sound. Do The Right Thing We sourced a material that has none of the negative health consequences and is reusable. We found this in a copolyester: This material is impact resistant, durable and dishwasher safe and provides a great alternative to the ubiquitous throw-away bottle. Users of the Triflow tap can dramatically reduce their carbon footprint by using the solid, reusable Triflask. Functionality The flask features an electronically controlled lid which is easy to open with one hand. The world s first electronic flask, the Triflask also has a cleverly angled top to enable comfortable drinking on the move. These Triflasks are prototypes and are subject to change.

12 zaha hadid for triflow The new Triflow tap by Zaha Hadid takes inspiration from the fluid movement of water. The design is a formal expression of the continuous flow of liquid merging the spout, body and handle of the tap in a seamless trajectory of curvilinear geometries. Already unique to the three-way Triflow tap is the technology woven effortlessly into its design namely the extra internal tube that allows treated drinking water to be delivered through a separate waterway, avoiding contamination from the hot and cold tap water. While hot and cold water is controlled by the tap s discrete handle, the drinking water element is activated by a touch sensitive electronic button indicated by the subtle Triflow logo. A green halo light ignites when operational, turning red when the water treatment cartridge needs replacing and flashing red when the battery is running low. The battery provides back-up in case of mains electricity failure. Hidden within the Zaha Hadid design is a highly sophisticated manufacturing process that has never before been used for a tap. The revolutionary shape employs the latest methods of production and a unique ceramic coring process, resulting in a tap that is as much a piece of art as it is a kitchen or bathroom appliance.

Bi-flow spouts, as their name suggests, feature a tube within a tube, allowing hot and cold water to be kept separate and accommodating variation in water pressure. Single flow spouts mix hot and cold water inside a single tube and are recommended where hot and cold water supplies are of equal pressures. Perrin & Rowe mixer taps with single flow spouts are supplied with WRAS listed non-return valves and rinse fittings are supplied with double check valves as standard. All taps selected with a hand rinse option have single flow spouts and an aerator. A flow straightener can also be fitted on request. Perrin & Rowe rinses have been designed specifically to cope with the UK s low water pressures. Mixer taps specified with rinses feature a patented diverter, which enables the rinse to work effectively with pressures as low as 1 bar. The Traditional Collection of Perrin & Rowe kitchen mixers offers a variety of combinations of colours and finishes. Through the innovative use of materials such as Brass, Porcelain, Corian and Avonite, Perrin & Rowe has made it possible to design a tap to suit your own individual requirements.
