3 PRECAUTIONSBEFOREUSE 1.1IMPORTANTSAFETYINSTRUCTIONS Thecontrolboxmustnotbepositionedinanarealikelytoflood. If the control box falls into the water it is imperative that you unplug the power supply before retrievingit. In order to avoid the risk of an electric shock, never open the electronic control box. Consult a qualifiedtechnician. Neverattempttorepairthepowersupplycable.Contactcustomerservicesinordertoreplacethe originalcable,inordertoavoidanyhazards. Disconnect the power supply cable before any cleaning, maintenance or servicing operations and aftereachuse. Inordertoavoidaccidentsoccurring,donotplaywiththecleaneroritscable. 1.2.CONTENTOFTHEPACKAGE Thepackagingshouldcontainthefollowingitems: The robot, a transport caddy, a control unit, a user manual, and a remote control unit (Vortex 4 robot only). Checkthattheappliancehasnotbeendamagedduringtransport(shocks,brokenparts,etc.).Ifyounoticeany defectiveparts,pleasecontactyourretailerimmediatelyandbeforeusingthecleaner. 1.3.ASSEMBLINGTHECADDY a) Insert the top tubes (1) and (2) into the lower part of the caddy (13).Diagram 1. The handles should be orientedtowardsthecableholderasshownindiagram1a. Diagram1 b) Fitthecableholder(3)anditscover(4)onthelowerpartofthecaddy. Tighten the screws using a Philips screwdriver. Diagram1a USE 2.1.RECOMMENDATIONSFORUSE Thecleanermustoperateinpoolwatermaintainedatthefollowinglevels:Chlorine<3mg,pHbetween6.8 and7.6,temperaturebetween10 Cand35 C. Useyourcleanerasoftenaspossible.Youwillbenefitfromapoolthatisalwayscleanandthefilterwillnot becomeclogged. If the pool is very dirty, especially during first use, remove larger pieces of debris using a net in order to optimisethecleaner'sperformance. Removethermometers,toysandotherobjectsthatmightdamagethecleanerfromthewater. Immersethecleanerinthepool,beforestartingacleaningcycle. Donotleavethecleanerinthewaterpermanently. Stowyourcleaneronitscaddyassoonaspossibleafteruse,inordertoavoiddistortingtheflexibleedgeat theopeningtothefilter. Nevercoverthecontrolboxwhilethecleanerisinoperation Donotleavethecontrolboxindirectsunlightafterhavingusedthecleaner. Ifpartofthepoolisnotproperlycleaned,changetheplacewhereyouimmersethecleaneruntilyoufindthe bestpositionofentrytoachievethebestcoverage. Thecleaner'sbehaviourisstronglyinfluencedifthecableistangled.Spreadthecableoutinthesunfrom timetotimesothatitresumesitsoriginalshape. Thebehaviourofthecleanercanbeinfluencedbythejetatthepoolreturnoutletsespeciallywhenthefilter pump is operational. In this case we recommend that you start your cleaner when the filter pump is not operational. Donotuseyourcleanerduringshockchlorination! 5 2.2.IMMERSINGTHECLEANER Immersethecleanerinthewater(Diagram71)verticallyandmoveitslightlyinalldirections(72)sothatthe airintherobotisexpelled. Diagram7 Itisimperativethatthecleanersinkstothebottomandcomestorestwithoutinterventionfromyou.Spread thecableoutoverthepool.foroptimumoperationwerecommendthatyouplacethecaddywiththecontrol boxmidwaydownthelengthofthepool. Donotallowbathingwhenthecleanerisinthepool. 2.3.ELECTRICALCONNECTION Placethecontrolboxatadistanceofatleast3.5metersfromthepool edgeandawayfromdirectsunlight;itcaneitherbeplacedontheground orattachedtothecaddy. Connect the cleaner cable to the control box (Diagram91&92)and locktheconnectorbyfirmlytighteningtheringbyturningitclockwise. Makesuretheconnectorissufficientlypushedintoplace,ifthisisnotthe caserepeatoperation(92). Diagram9 Connect the power cable. Only connect the control box to a power outletprotectedbya30mamaximumgroundfaultcircuitbreaker(ifin doubt contact a qualified electrician). Ensure that the plug is permanentlyandeasilyaccessible. 2.4.PROGRAMMINGTHECLEANINGCYCLES Descriptionofkeysandindicatordiodes Diagram8 If you use an extension cable to connect your cleaner to the power supply, ensure the control box is placednolessthan3.5metersfromthepooledge. 6 2.4.2.Startup Whenthecleanerispoweredon,thecontrolboxremainsinstandby. Thecleanerisstartedbypressingthekeycorrespondingtooneofthe2 Diagram10 cleaning programmes (Diagram 10). The indicator located above the selected programme will light up. The cleaner starts after a few secondsandcalculatesitsowntrajectory. Youcanchangetheselectedcleaningprogrammeatanytimewhenthe cleaner is operating. Just press the key corresponding to the other programme(iorii).acompletenewcleaningcyclewillstart. APPLIESFORVORTEX 4ONLY: Dependingonhowclean/dirtythepoolis,youmaywishtomodifythe lengthofthecleaningcyclebypressing.youcanincreasethistime by one hour or reduce it by 30 minutes by pressing the key a second time. Pressing a third time will reset to the initial predefined cleaningtimes(1hr30or2hrs30). Uponstartingupthenexttime,therobotwillrecalltheparametersthat wereusedforthepreviousoperation. Tostopthecleanerduringaprogrammepresson.Diagram11. Remarks: Ifyoupressthekeyforthecurrentprogrammeitwillhavenoeffect. Diagram11 Attheendoftheprogrammethecleanerstopsbutremainsinstandby.Press toshutoffthecleaner powersupply. Due to the vast range in the shape and size of different pool steps, it is possible that the cleaner may encounterdifficultiesincleaningtheseareasofapool.whentherobotisdescendingalongthepoolwall,it mayalsocomeawayfromthewall. Thecleanerlowersitssuctionpowerwhenreversing.Somedebrismaynotbesuctionedduringthisreverse action. Ifthecleanersucksinairatthewaterlineasafetymechanismistriggeredanditwillsinkbacktothebottom afterafewmoments. Thecleanertendstotipoverandfloatforafewseconds,thisisnotamalfunction,itwillreturntoitsnormal position. Ifyourpoolhasanalarmitisstronglyrecommendedthatthepooliswellfilledsothattherobotdoesnot touchthealarmrepeatedlyanddamageit. Itisalsostronglyrecommendedtokeepthepoolcover openwhenusingthecleanerin"bottomandsides" Endofprogram VORTEX 3,VORTEX 34WD Therobotstopsandtheindicatorcorrespondingtotheprogramislit. At the end of the cycle the robot must cool down for 15 minutes in order to avoid potential damage to the seals. After 15 minutes the indicatorwillblinkmeaningthatthecleanercanberemovedfromthe water. Pressonthepowerbutton.Diagram12. 7 Wait approximately 15 minutes after the end of the programme before removing the cleaner from the water. Ifyouwishtorunanewprogrammeoncethecleanerhasstoppedpressthecorrespondingbutton. Before removing the cleaner from the pool, disconnect the power cable and disconnect thefloatingcablefromthecontrolbox.bring thecleanertowardsyou,bygentlypullingon thecable(diagram131). Diagram13 Assoonastherobotiswithinreach,takeholdofitusingthehandle(132)andgentlyremoveitfromthepool, allowingthewateritcontainstodrainbackintothepool(133). Donotpullonthecabletoremovethecleanerfromthewater. 2.5.REMOTECONTROLMODE(VORTEX 4) Youcansteertherobotfreelyusingtheremotecontrolunit. Thereare4keysontheremoteunit: Turnleft Forward Turn right Reverse To use the remote control feature, simply press a key when the robot is operational in the swimming pool. Simplypressbrieflythe"forward"and"reverse"keystocontroltherobotaccordingly.Maintainthe"right"or "left"keystoturntherobotinthecorrespondingdirection. EN Wheninuse,thetwodiodes willflashalternately. Toreverttotheautomaticmode: Donotpressonoruseanyoftheremotecontrolkeysforaminimumof45seconds. Pressthe or key Synchronisationprocedure If you have replaced the control unit or the remote control unit in terms of after sales or repair, it will be necessarytosynchronise/pairthetwoitemswitheachotheronceagain: Connecttherobottothecontrolunitthenconnectthecontrolunittothemainpowersupply. Press + formorethan6secondsuntilthe2diodesflash Holddownthekey ontheremotecontrol. The diode on the right will flash 5 times then the two diodes will flash simultaneously. Theremotecontroliscorrectlysynchronisedwiththecontrolunitwhenthediodesturnoff. 2.6.USAGEWITHANEXTERNALTIMER(VORTEX 4) Inthismodethecontrolunitcanlaunchapreset or cleaningcyclewhentheunitdetectsanexternal powersource(timer). Youcanselecteitherabottomonlycycle orabottomandwallscycle :thediodeforthecorresponding programmewillflash. Regardlessofthecycleselected,thecleaningtimeis2hrs30min.Thisdurationcannotbechanged.Program thetimerforaminimumoperationtimeof3hours. H A2.EN Ver.05/2011 6

8 2.6.1.Procedureforactivatingthismode Connectthecontrolunittothemainpowersupply. Ifyouwanttherobottoautomaticallyrunabottomonlycycle,press + (morethan3seconds). If you want the robot to automatically run a bottom and walls only cycle, press + (more than 3 seconds). The2diodeswillflashsimultaneously: Thecleanerwillnowstartautomaticallyinconjunctionwiththetimeselected Tocanceltheautomatedstartmode Connectthecontrolunittothemainpowersupply.Pressthe key(morethan6seconds). The2diodeswillflashsimultaneously: CLEANINGANDMAINTENANCE 3.1.CLEANINGTHEFILTERBASKET Weadviseyoutocleanthefilteraftereachuse. Make sure the power supply cable is disconnected from the power outlet or that the floating cable is disconnectedfromthecontrolbox. Pressonbutton(Diagram141)onthefilterbasketaccesscover. Liftthecover(142)completelyuntilitremainsinaverticalposition. Removethefilterbasketholderusingitshandle(143). Pressonthefilterholderbutton(144)andpullthefilterbasketapartfrom itsholder(145). Thefilterbasketwillseparatefromtheholder(146). Emptythefilterbasketandcleanitusingrunningwater(Diagram147). Rinsethefilterbasketandremoveanydebrisstuckinsideit. Refit the filter basket and filter holder together and replace back into the cleaner. Closethecoverandmakesurethatitissecure. Diagram CLEANINGANDSTORINGTHECLEANER The cleaner must be cleaned regularly using slightly soapy clean water, do not use solvents such a trichloroethyleneoritsequivalent.rinsethecleanerthoroughlyusingcleanwater.donotletyourcleanerdry indirectsunlightnearthepool. Thecleanermustbestoredonitsowncaddy,sothatitdriesquickly. H A2.EN Ver.05/2011 7

9 Place the rear wheels on the support wedges (Diagram 151). Tilt the robot, then push it backwards until it reachesitstorageposition(152). Diagram15 Thecleanercablemustbedisconnectedfromthecontrolboxbeforeremovingthecleanerfromthepool. Windthecleanercablearoundthehookslocatedattherearofthecaddystartingfromthecleaner. 3.3.RECYCLINGTHEPRODUCT Whenyourappliancehasreachedtheendofitslifespan,andifyouwouldliketodisposeofitor replace it: do not throw it into your household waste and do not use your household recycling containers either. When this symbol is mentioned on an appliance, it means that the equipment mustnotbedisposedofcasually.itwillbecollectedselectivelysothatitcanbereused,recycledor recovered.anysubstancesitmaycontainwhicharepotentiallydangeroustotheenvironmentwill beeliminatedorneutralised. Enquirewithyourretailerfortheconditionsthatapplytotherecyclingofyourproductandtotheorganisations thatcanhandleitsrecycling. REPLACEMENTOFACCESSORIES 4.1.REPLACINGTHEBRUSHES ThecleanerisfittedwithPVCbrushes.Thereare ''wear''indicatorsonthebrushes(diagram16). Tomaintaincleanerperformanceatitsbestyou need to replace the brushes as soon as one of the wear indicators has been reached (even if thebladewearisnoteven). We recommend that you replace the brushes everytwoseasons. Toremovewornbrushes,removethetabsfromtheholesinwhichtheyarefitted(Diagram17). Tofitnewbrushesstartbyfittingthesidewithouttabsunderthebrushholder(Diagram181). Rollthebrusharounditsholderandslidethetabsintothefixingholes.Pullontheendofeachtab(182)sothat itsedgepassesthroughtheslit.cutthetabsusingscissorssothattheyareatthesamelevelastheotherblades. Pushonesectionofthetyrearoundthewheelandfittheribofthetyreinthegrooveofthewheel(202). Installtherestofthetyreonthewheelandverifytheribofthetyrefitwellwiththegrooveofthewheel(203). Adjusttheriboftheinnersideofthetyreinthegrooveofthewheel(204).Youmayturnthewheelgentlyif needed. TROUBLESHOOTING 5.1.Thecleanerdoesnotstayfirmlyonthepoolbottom Thereisairintheappliancecasing.Repeattheimmersionoperationsstrictlycomplyingwiththeinstructionsin the"cleanerimmersion"( 2.2) 5.2.Thecleanerdoesnotornolongerclimbsthepoolsides Thismayhavetwocauses: Thefilterbasketisfullordirty:allyouneedtodoiscleanit; Althoughthewaterseemsclear,microscopicalgae,invisibletothehumaneye,arepresentinthepool.Asa resultthepoolsidesbecomeslipperyandpreventthecleanerfromclimbing.carryoutashockchlorination treatmentandslightlyreducetheph.donotleavethecleanerinthepoolduringthistreatment. 5.3.Onstartupthecleanerdoesnotmove Checkthattheoutlettowhichthecontrolboxisconnectedisreceivingapowersupply. Check that you have started one of the two programmes, check that the indicator for the selected programmeislit. Iftheproblempersistscontactyourretailer. 5.4.TheprogrammeIandprogrammeIIindicatorsflashalternately Disconnectthepowersupplyandwait20secondsbeforereconnectingthecontrolbox. Checkthatnodebrisimpedestherotationofthebrushesand/orthepropeller. Cleanthefilter. Startanewcleaningprogramme.Iftheproblemcontinuescontactyourretailer. Theflashinglightsareanindicationofproblemswiththecontrolunitand/orthecleanerbutarenotnecessarily indicativeofamajorproblemwiththeunitandcansometimesresolvethemselves. Toremovetheflashinglight,pressthebutton.Thenstartanewcycle: Ifthecleanerrunsnormallyforaround5minutes,itwasaminortroubleshootingerror. Iftheflashinglightpersists,checkthecleanerwithfollowingprocedurefirst. Afterthischeck,iftheflashinglightpersists,pleasecontactyourretailer. Diagram20 Inanycase,don'topenthecontrolunit. 11 Issue:Theflashinglightsappearsjustafterstartingthecleaner(<20seconds). Solution: Ensurethefloatingcableisconnectedtothecontrolunit. Disconnectthefloatingcablefromthecontrolunitandconnectitagainproperly. Ensurethecleaneriswellsubmerged. Then start a new cycle and check that the impeller is rotating correctly (water ejected at the rear of the robot)andthatthewheelsarerotating(twowheels=vortex 3andVortex 4;4wheels=Vortex 34WD). Iftheimpellerdoesn'tturn,checkifthereissomedebrisaroundtheimpeller. Procedure: Ensurethatthecontrolunitcablehasbeendisconnectedfromtheelectricaloutletorthatthefloatingcable hasbeendisconnectedfromthecontrolunit. Liftthecover.Removethefilterbasket. Inordertobenefitfromthewarranty,theClientandtheEndUseragreetorespectthefollowingparameters concerningthewaterbalanceoftheswimmingpool: ph:6.8<ph<7.6 freechlorine(*:<3,0mg/l totalbromine(*):<5.0mg/l stabilisingagent(ifused):<75mg/l totaldissolvedmetals(iron,manganese,copper,zinc ):<0.1mg/L (*):SwimmingPoolCleanersmustberemovedfromthepoolbeforeusingashocktreatment. Note:Usingwaterdrawnfromawellisforbidden. Generallimitations ThepresentwarrantydoesnotapplytovisibledefectsthattheClientfailedtoreportuponacceptingdeliveryof theproducts. Also excluded from the warranty are: defects or deterioration due to the unsuitability of the Product with respecttotheenduser'sneeds,duetonormalwear,tonegligence,toincorrectinstallationortoausethat does not conform to the recommendations mentioned in the User Manual, to lack of maintenance and/or a handlingaccident,toincorrectstorage,and/orbystudies,instructionsand/orspecificationsmadebyourclient. OurClientwillberesponsibleforensuringcompatibilityofourProductswithanyotherpoolequipmentitmay beinstalledwith,bycheckingwiththedifferentmanufacturersconcerned,alsoforensuringthatallinstallation andoperatinginstructionsandrulesarerespectedinorderfortheoverallsystemtooperatecorrectly. Inthecaseofareturnoftheproducttoourworkshop,shippingexpensestoandfro,willbebornebytheend user,exceptforthoseexpensesmentionedunderparagraph2ofthepresentarticle. Immobilisationanddeprivationofuseofanapplianceduetorepairwillnotgivetherighttocompensation. ThiswarrantywillbecomevoidinthecaseofadefaultinpaymentorlatepaymentbyourClientfortheProduct concerned. Periodcoveredbythewarranty TheeffectivewarrantystartdateisthedatementionedonthesalesinvoiceforthenewProductasissuedby ourclienttotheenduser.thisdocumentwillberequiredasproofofpurchaseinorderforthewarrantytobe effective. Failing this, our Client shall bear the full cost of any claims made by the end User under the contractualwarrantyandafteritsexpirydate. Undernocircumstancesshallanyrepairsorreplacementscarriedoutunderthetermsofthiswarrantycauseits durationtobeextendedorrenewed. ParticulardispositionsforProductsoftheElectricalRobotRange WeguaranteethatallourProductsconformtotheirtechnicalspecifications,thattheyarefreeofmaterialor manufacturingdefectsandthattheycorrespondtothetechnicalevolutionandstateoftheartatthetimeof theirlaunchonthemarket. SubsequentmodificationsmadetoourProducts(improvementsormodificationsmadeaspartofthetechnical developmentoftheproducts)willnotgiveanyrighttoaninterventiononourbehalf.
