If this is not completed, the thermostats may not communicate properly. Figure 3. Remote Sensor Run the remote sensor wires from the sensor to the two terminals marked RS1 on the thermostat base plate (see Figure 1), through the same hole as the existing thermostat wires. When installed, the remote sensor on RS1 overrides the internal temperature sensor in the thermostat. 3. Keep the wiring at least one foot away from large inductive loads such as motors, line starters, lighting ballasts, and distribution panels. 4. Keep remote sensors away from air diffusers, external doorways, and other areas where temperatures may fluctuate with airflow or door openings. Siemens Industry, Inc.

5 5. Locate the remote sensor in an area where it will accurately measure the average space temperature in the room. NOTE: Refrigeration Sensors If the space is large and cannot be accurately estimated by using a single remote sensor, install an additional remote sensor on the terminals of RS2. Once installed, from the Installer Settings screen, configure the Remote Sensors > RS2 Location setting to In. This ensures that it is averaged with RS1 to provide an accurate space temperature in the room. For detailed information about using the Installer Settings screen, see Thermostat Installer Settings (Hidden Screen). Refrigeration sensors are an option, and are installed in the same manner as the remote sensors. NOTE: The refrigeration sensor is the same as the remote sensor. It has two wires. These wires are not polarized, and may be interchanged. 1. Run the refrigeration sensor wires from the sensor to the two terminals marked RS2 on the thermostat base plate (see Figure 1) through the same hole as the existing thermostat wires. 2. From the Installer Settings screen of the thermostat, configure the Remote Sensors > RS2 Location setting to Out. This ensures reliable results by taking the sensor out of the RTU control sequence. For detailed information about using the Installer Settings screen, see Thermostat Installer Settings (Hidden Screen). 3. Locate the refrigeration sensor in the center of the walk-in freezer or refrigerator. 4. Run the wires by puncturing a small hole in the wall of the walk-in, and feeding the wires through. 5. Use silicone to completely seal the area around the wires. 6. Keep the wiring at least one foot away from large inductive loads such as motors, line starters, lighting ballasts, and distribution panels. 7. Keep refrigeration sensors away from fans, doors, and other areas where temperatures may fluctuate with airflow or door openings. Siemens Industry, Inc. Page 5 of 8
