1 Fan Assembly Kit Instkuction Sheet 46-l 63 Series 3860 and 3890 Page 1 FAN ASSEMBLY KIT FOR SERIES 3860 AND 3890 DESCRIPTION The Fan Assembly Kit is used with the Series 3860 and 3890 applicators. It is required when the unit is used at or above 100 F ambient temperature environment with 50 Hz power supply conditions. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS A I A A WARNING: Disconnect and lock out input electrical power to the un:it. Failure to disconnect external power to the applicator presents a serious shock hazard. Even though the circuit breaker is OFF, the input terminal block (TBl) and input terminals on the circuit breaker are still electrically energized if external power is not disconnected. WARNING: Wear safety glasses, safety gloves (P/N ), and protective clothing to prevent injury from hot applicator parts, splashed hot melt adhesive material and hot gun surfaces. WARNING: Refer to your Series 3000 Technical Manual for safety information. UNPACKING INSTRUCTIONS Carefully remove the Fan Assembly Kit (P/N ) from the shipping container and comlpare it with the items listed in the table. Inspect the components for obvious signs of damage. Fan w/connector, Hopper Enclosure 1 Wire Group, Fan, Hopper Enclosure 1 Cable, Strqp, Hi-Temp (pkg of 4) 1 INSTALLATION Refer to Figure 2. 1 for the followin,g procedure. A WARNING: The Series 3000 Applicators contain energized electrical c,omponents with potentials I that could be fatal. Exercise extreme caution when installing, operating and servicing this equipment. Only qualified personnel should install and service this equipment. l.disconnect and lock out input power to the applicator. Lift the hopper enclosure straight up off of the unit. 3. Disconnect the ground wire (G9) from inside the hopper enclosure and set enclosure aside. 4. Loosen the captive screws securing the electrical cover to the applicator, remove cover and set aside. 5. Loosen screws on the front cover support bracket (between hose end frame and center frame). Loosen captive screws on the front cover at the center frame and control frame. 6. Tilt front cover away from unit and lift upward to remove, set cover aside. Disconnect P15 ground wire (G3) from front cover if necessary. 7. Cut tie wrap and disconnect the other end of the (G9) ground wire from the fan solenoid connector of the unit wire harness. Disconnect ground wire or save for future use. Place fan on the front inside wall of the hopper enclosure and secure with four screws, washers and nuts. b. Connect the fan grolund (G9) to the ground stud inside the hopper enclosure. C. Connect receptacle end of the fan assembly wire group to the fan/solenoid connector of the unit wire harness. 9. d. Replace tie wrap to wire channel where previously cut, Reconnect the front cover ground (G3). Install front cover and tighten captive screws on front cover and front cover support bracket. 10. Install the hopper enclosure on the applicator. 11. Install the electrical cover and tighten the captive screws. 12. Restore power to the a:pplicator and resume normal operation.
