1 AD Technical Bulletin Upgrade or Addition: Pressure Relief Valve Upgrade Date Introduced: Around 7/1/15 Machines Needing Upgrade: All Machines manufactured before 7/1/15 Description: The boiler pressure relief valve is a safety device that releases steam when a boiler over pressurizes or overfills. It is also known as an over pressure valve, or sometimes simply safety valve. All machines manufactured before 7/1/15 had a brass 3/8 BSPP Pressure Relief Valve that was calibrated by a 8mm allen key. All machines manufactured after 7/1/15 contain a new Stainless Steel ¼ BSPT that does not need to be calibrated. There is also an updated Stainless Steel 3/8 BSPT pressure relief valve available to update old models. Alpha Dominche recommends that all PRV s be replaced once per year for safety purposes. The new stainless steel PRV s also allow for a drainage hose attachment that protects crucial electronics from moisture in the event of over pressurization. For this reason, Alpha Dominche recommends that all customers upgrade to the new style with drain attachment. How to Determine if Upgrade is Necessary: If the machine boiler contains a 3/8 Brass PRV, or contains a 3 Bolt Heating Element (exemption is SP 2.1 machines all have 3 Bolt Element regardless of mfg date), it can be upgraded to the new stainless steel 3/8 BSPT PRV. To Obtain This Upgrade: The old brass PRV is available for a limited time. Alpha Dominche recommends upgrading to the new Stainless Steel PRV. To determine which upgrade is needed: FT-013 Old Brass 3/8 BSPP PRV (HW-331 is the copper gasket for sealing to the boiler) FT-033 Stainless Steel 3/8 BSPT PRV for Machines mfg before 7/1/15 (3 Bolt Heating Element) FT-034 Stainless Steel ¼ BSPT PRV included on all machines mfg after 7/1/15 (4 Bolt Heating Element or SP 2.1 mfg after 7/1/15)) For general replacement, order the part numbers listed above. If this is the first time upgrading, order the Teflon attachment kit for draining water/steam. Warranty Information: This upgrade is recommended, but not required. Alpha Dominche Ltd. 2 3 Different PRV s Brass PRV FT-013 (Left): This is the original brass PRV (FT-013) with 3/8 BSPP Threads. It is made to fit all 3 Bolt Heating Element Boilers manufactured before 7/1/15. It can be calibrated using a 8mm allen key. These can still be used, but the upgrade is recommended. The copper gasket is HW-331 for reference. Stainless Steel PRV FT-033 (Middle): This is the upgraded SS PRV with 3/8 BSPT threads. This is the upgrade for older models mfg before 7/1/15 (3 Bolt Heating Elements). Stainless Steel PRV FT-034 (Right): This is the upgraded SS PRV with ¼ BSPT threads. It comes standard on all machines mfg after 7/1/15 (4 Bolt Heating Elements or SP 2.1 mfg after 7/1/15).

On the left side, there are three threads provided for the heating element. On the right side, there are 4 bolts provided for the heating element. Left Side: mfg before 7/1/15 [Can accept 3/8 Brass PRV or 3/8 SS PRV] (exemption is SP 2.1 mfg after 7/1/15 will also have 3 Bolt Element) Right Side: mfg after 7/1/15 [Can accept ¼ SS PRV]

4 Features of New Style SS PRV The new style SS PRV [both the ¼ and 3/8 versions] allow for a drainage attachment. This drain can be run out the bottom of the machine so that moisture and water does not damage electronics during over pressurization. In the event that a machine overfills with water, it will exit through this port and go under the machine. The new style SS PRV does not need to be calibrated. They are all set to 50 PSI, which means they will blow around degrees Fahrenheit.

5 Installing the New Style SS PRV When installing a new style SS PRV, use two wraps of Teflon tape as the seal. The threads are tapered by design, and the Teflon acts as an aid in creating the seal. Thread the PRV on until tight, and be careful not to cross-thread during installation. Do not use Teflon on the old style PRV. Contact with any questions.
