10 Special Features RHS Young Designers of the Year Finalists: Pocket Park Challenge (Dais of Lawrence Hall) Linking with the Society s work around supporting wildlife and our Greening Grey Britain campaign we are asking our Young Designers to design a Pocket Park within our Show that can be used and enjoyed by our visitors. The aim is to illustrate how horticulture can bring greenery to any space in any location as well as encouraging natural wildlife and pollinators. The space will incorporate lots of planting and seating for visitors to sit and enjoy the space. The finalists are mentored by renowned garden designer Paul Hervey-Brookes Spring Wave Installation by RHS Floral Artist in Residence 2017 Fiona Haser Bizony (Lawrence Hall) Our RHS London Floral Artist in Residence will be creating a magnificent hanging floral wave using flowers from flower farm near Bath. The RHS Lindley Library Tours Lindley Hall The library will be open during the Show on Wednesday 29th and Thursday the 30th. The exhibition at this time will be Potted In celebration of the humble houseplant, this exhibition at the RHS Lindley Library features a series of designs by students from Central Saint Martins College. In a collaborative project with the library, the students have investigated a variety of well-known and well-loved houseplants and created made to measure pots to suit their individual needs. The Exhibition will also feature the Spring Showcase that will include a collection of seasonal images from the Lindley Library collections and from around the gardens at Harlow Carr. 7

11 Tours will be run on each day at 1:30pm and 3:30pm. You can sign up for these at the Lindley Library stand on the day. Workshop Floral Spring Wreath Workshops with Helen Cranmer Lawrence Hall Under the guidance of Helen Cranmer, learn how to create your own delightful Spring door wreath. Using an assortment of delicate and interesting natural materials including flowers and foliage, you will create an asymmetrical, natural & lush design upon a circular wreath. Before taking it home, Helen will share tips and techniques for applying ribbons, raffia and twine for additional decoration and so that you can hang it easily. Tickets are at the RHS Ticket desks, as well as, advance online availability. The workshops will be at 11:30am and 2:00pm 8

12 Preview Evening Our evening event on 28 th of March will be from 6pm to 9pm and offers a preview of the show, with drinks, food, music and activities. Ema Felix will be hosting a Spring Floral Corsage Workshop, as well as, a Pressed Flower Badge Workshop throughout the evening (6:00pm-9:00pm) As part of the RHS commitment to grow the next generation of gardeners, from 2017, shows held in both RHS Halls (such as the RHS Spring Plant and Orchid Show), will have a small entry charge for members ( 5) and the public ( 6 advance, 9 on the day). Shows held in one hall only will be free to RHS members and the public (the Late event will be 5 in advance and on the day for both members and the public). Funds from ticket sales will go towards helping to pay for RHS Apprentices, to kick-start and enable young people s careers in horticulture.* Coming Soon The RHS London Urban Garden is the perfect place to browse and buy plants from some of the country s best plant growers for small gardens, balconies, windowsills and indoor plants - including citrus, olives, chillies and exotic ornamental plants.
