1 BUCKS COUNTY ORCHID SOCIETY NEWSLETTER October, 2016 See us on Facebook Visit our website: BCOS Annual Orchid Auction Thursday, October 20, 2016 Churchville Nature Center 501 Churchville Lane Churchville, PA Preview - 6:30 p.m. Auction Begins - 7:00 pm Over 150 plants will be auctioned. Come to the premier event of the year for a fun filled evening with spirited bidding, some surprises and orchids, orchids, orchids. This is a great opportunity to get plants from our members and various professional growers at great prices. Most are mature plants, some of which are in bloom. Bring a friend. Free 1 year membership to all non -members attending Your support at the auction helps provide for speakers throughout the year, other Society activities, as well as our contributions for orchid conservation. A draft list of the plants is attached. Note the variety packs where groups of 4-7 orchids will be sold together. This will be another opportunity for a value purchase. We will send a final list by before the meeting. Please print the final list and bring it to the auction for reference. Also, please remember to bring a box or bag in which to take home your purchases (and any extra boxes you may have will be appreciated). Note - There will not be a Show Table this month. Above, Bucks County Orchid Society begins the 2015 Orchid Auction with a robust offering of Orchids. This year will offer comparable orchids and values. Mike Gatto and Dr. Ponniah Selvakumar, Ph.D from Gaps Eco Systems spoke to BCOS membership at last month s meeting on the advantages of using coir and coconut husk chips. After the meeting they informed the Society that Society members will enjoy a 10% discount on their products. See page 5 and their website for more information about products and ordering.
