Alloa Town Centre BID s Busy Bee Trail Solve the clues to find the shops which host the Bees. Collect all 10 different numbered stickers. Return to be entered in to our free prize draw. Our trail encouraged families to work together in a free fun activity, while highlighting different traders throughout the town. The Bees were hand knitted and donated by a retired local woman. The inside of our leaflet was full of interesting facts regarding Birds, Bees & Trees.

BIRDS, BEES AND TREES PERTH LEISURE POOL 2017 Every year, we create a display outside Perth Leisure Pool, along with pupils from nursery, primary and secondary schools across the City. This year, we chose Birds, Bees and Trees as our theme and the children helped us plant the display in June. The design uses recycled materials to make an outdoor classroom, surrounded by pollinator plants. We sourced our apple trees locally, from The Appletreeman in Bankfoot. Most are specific Tayside varieties such as Tower of Glamis and Lass O Gowrie. Glenys from the Perth and District Beekeepers Association brought a demonstration hive along to our planting week. The children and their teachers were absolutely fascinated by the story of bees. (PS Glenys enjoyed the experience so much she has now joined us as a volunteer!) The schools made bird feeders and bug hotels which were installed around the classroom. At the end of the season, the classroom furniture, trees, pollinator plants and other items will be reused in our own projects or at schools and other local sites in Perth.
Blairmore Village Trust The World Woods Library
Arts and crafts groups across Haddington, knitted, crocheted, sewed and painted many birds, bees and trees to help brighten up our town. We yarn-bombed an area of the town, wrapping trees in brightly coloured scarfs and bunting. The Community Arts Hub created a knitted tree for their display window and Amisfield Walled Garden hosted an arts exhibition, all in the Birds, Bees and Trees theme. We appealed for contributions on social media, in church newsletters and via the local press. The campaign helped to involve people in the community who wouldn t normally get involved in our Bloom efforts. We even received contributions from our twin town in France, Aubingy-Sur-Nere!
Bonnie Dundee It s Your Neighbourhood Group Bee friendly planting We have a tarmac area with 13 tubs planted with bee friendly annuals e.g. cosmos, ageratum and Dahlia Mignon Series and herbs e.g. thyme, oregano and lemon balm, along with 14 tubs forming an Urban Orchard underplanted with wildflowers.
Bonnie Dundee It s Your Neighbourhood Group Bees and Birds This year we worked with the Overgate Shopping Centre (they had the money!) and Rockwell Learning Centre (for children with social, emotional and behavioural needs) and turned a grey unused area into a wildflower garden (especially Borage for bees) and a neglected space into a garden with birdfeeders, bird bath and table and bee friendly year-round plants e.g. apple tree, hebes, dahlias.
Brig in Bloom Little blooms getting a talk on the importance of the honey bee from our resident bee keeper Birds & bees scarecrow!
2½ weeks ago, pupils from Inverbervie Primary School added 5 apple trees to the new Edibles Trail which Brighter Bervie is creating around the Royal Burgh, supported by our partners SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health). Happy Apple Tree Planters Job done just 2 years to wait for the Apples!
Brighter Bothwell In May, we planted a new bed in Bothwell s Gilchrist Garden, using the theme of Birds, Bees and Trees. Avril designed the planting plan and worked with our local Council team, who helped with the preparation and planting. Many of the plants came from our Community Garden. A bird bath and beehive feature were included. A beautiful Indian Bean Tree, Catalpa bignonioides, was planted beside the bed. Part of the bed in August, just before the Judges visit.
Brighter Bothwell Birds, Bees and Trees Craft Bomb Brighter Bothwell crafters worked hard, along with some primary school pupils, to create several fun and educational installations. Bobby Bothwell loved meeting the knitting scarecrow and seeing all her amazing birds and bees hanging from the trees. The polytunnel in the Community Garden was great for drying off birds and bees before selling the birds to raise funds. We will use the bees again. We used recycled fabric to make several educational panels about identifying leaves, and posters about the life in trees.
In an effort to entice more bees and birds to King Street, we held a Window Box workshop where residents could make up their own mix of plants. Bees came as we planted up. Our Wheelbarrow entry to the Dundee Flower & Food Festival this year was actually our campaign in minature, with the plants (and one small rowan tree) being visited by knitted bees and birds. We won a Silver Medal. Birds, Bees and Trees (ok, bushes) have always been a priority in this corner of a busy car park in Broughty Ferry. There s fennel, lavendar, buddleja, sage, foxgloves and salex. Here we are tidying up and adding sunflowers.

Cupar in Bloom These three images show how we depicted Birds, Bees and Trees at Tarvit Pond. At the entrance, the Butterfly and Bee Halt was two barrels filled with sensory plants which then led to our refurbished Bugs and Beastie House, where young children from a group at the YMCA/YWCA had painted motifs of Birds and Creatures. No 3 is our Bird Sanctuary where our Bird Lady feeds daily many differing varieties. A true haven for wildlife.

East Haven Together Facts about birds bees and trees to increase awareness about biodiversity. A new solitary bee house built by one of the residents and placed strategically behind the Buddleia
Falkirk Delivers brought together Community groups over the summer to create and promote a Bee Friendly in Falkirk theme. Bug hotels were built in our new vegetable, herb and pollinator gardens, and a local summer kids club craft bombed a vacant shop unit to raise awareness and create vibrancy in the town centre!
Fittie Community Development Trust Gardening Group The IYN Campaign Birds, Bees and Trees We have planted three new flower tubs with Wildflowers from Aberdeen s Coast which attract bees and other insects. We have added picture posters with the flower s names, and hope these tubs will become a permanent display of wildflowers from our area. To raise awareness for Wildlife in Footdee we have invited locals to take part in this year s Big Butterfly Count and are planning a Bird Survey for this winter. To support our local birds we have sold home-made Bird-boxes and keep our Bird-tables well stocked.
Friends of Granton Castle Walled Garden We have been monitoring birds, bees and butterflies over the summer. 'Storyboard' now in place at the gateway for visitors who are accosted by the jungle of scrub as they first go inside. Birds nesting this summer were the prime reason we didn't clear any scrub after getting entry in May. We worked in two areas cleared of vegetation in February. Latest birds twittering away are long tailed tits in number, and of course the tawny owl in the evening, seems to be two males in close proximity now by calls in the evening. Again we cordoned off an area of the garden and did no work there during the summer to give the nesting tawny owl peace.
Grow in Glenburn Grow in Glenburn aims to engage and excite the next generation and have therefore left part of the growing area as its original woodland. Children can play and learn in our woodland trail. (As a side bonus, they also annoy us less while we get on with the serious gardening.)
Grow in Glenburn We have had our bothy decorated today (18 th October) by a group of young women working through Barnardos with an artist. Its theme is Birds, Bees and Trees and it has brought a lot of colour to a dreary portacabin!

Kinnesswood in Bloom We invited villagers to make us birds and bees using a variety of crafts. Most were knitted and crocheted but we were lucky to have a stained glass worker who made us a bird and a bee. The project involved people of all ages, including a lady whose husband is in a care home and it gave her a new interest. One new lady in the village knitted a whole flock of birds.
Kinnesswood in Bloom Bird and Bee Quiz 2017 The answers to this quiz can be found as you walk round the gardens of Kinnesswood. You don t need to cross the main road. You may need adult help for some of the answers. Any completed quiz sheets can be handed in to 56 Whitecraigs by Saturday the 19 th August. There will be a small gift for each one. Many thanks to all those who knitted, crocheted or made glass birds. Name Phone number Address 1.Look in the burn beside the bus shelter through the gate. There are 2 flamingoes. 29 MILNGAVIE IN BLOOM BeeLine Trail As part of Milngavie Week, we organized a BeeLine trail for children to complete, collecting the answers to the clues in planters and tubs along the route. Each child was given a small jar of honey for entering. Parents said they all learned a lot from the Trail, and it was good fun for everyone.
MILNGAVIE IN BLOOM - Bird Box Workshop MiB Volunteers get workshop tuition from the Rangers at Mugdock Country Park on how to make bird boxes. Thanks to the lovely sunshine, the whole experience was such good fun and all fingers were still intact. The Rangers then put the boxes up, watched by some eager schoolboys.
Organic Growers of Fairlie The first photo is one of our young members installing a bird box in a tree. The second is from an event we had with a tree trail where the youngsters had to find trees and we also had fairies in the wood for the wee ones hence the gnome in the tree.

The People s Project - Dumfries In November 2014 The People s Project, in conjunction with over 100 school pupils and helpers from the Allanton Peace Sanctuary, planted 150 fruit trees at Lincluden Abbey in Dumfries. This was followed up by overwintering 1,000 poppy plants and planting them to commemorate the First World War. The idea was to recreate the gardens of the Abbey as it was in the 1500 s - but more importantly to provide a bounty of fruit for the free meals project at Dumfries North West Church - which provides a hot vegetarian meal seven days a week for those with chaotic lifestyles, such as alcoholics and drug addicts. Despite an initial phase of vandalism over the first 12 months, the orchard has now developed into a haven for butterflies and bees, being home to wild flowers as well as the 150 trees themselves.and in August this year, Lincluden Abbey was voted one of the top six hidden gems in Scotland.
