4 Explanation of Graphical Objects The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of uninsulated "dangerous voltage" within the enclosure of the product that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock to the person. The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of important operating and maintenance servicing instructions in the literature accompany the product. Important Safety Instructions READ INSTRUCTIONS - All safety and operating instructions should be read before the unit is operated. 1. RETAIN INSTRUCTIONS - The safety and operating instructions should be retained for future reference. 2. HEED WARNINGS - All warnings on the unit and in the operating instructions should be adhered to. 3. FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS - All operating and use instructions should be followed. 4. CLEANING - Unplug the unit from the outlet before cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning. 5. ATTACHMENTS - Do not use attachments not recommended by the product manufacturer as they may result in the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons. 6. ACCESSORIES - Only use accessories specified by the manufacturer. Do not place this product on an unstable cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table. The product may fall, causing serious injury to a child or adult and serious damage to the equipment. Use only with a cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table recommended by the manufacturer, or sold with the product. Any mounting of the product should follow the manufacturer's instructions and should use a mounting accessory recommended by the manufacturer. Wall or shelf mounting should follow the manufacturer's instructions and should use a mounting kit approved by the manufacturer. 7. A product and cart combination should be moved with care. Quick stops, excessive force, and uneven surfaces may cause the product and cart combination to overturn. 8. POWER SOURCES - This product should be operated only from the type of power source indicated on the marking label. If you are not sure of the type of power supplied to your facility, consult your product dealer or local power company. 9. OVERLOADING - Do not overload outlets and extension cords as this can result in a risk of fire or electric shock. 10. POWER-CORD PROTECTION - Power supply cords should be routed so that they are not likely to be walked on or pinched by items placed upon or against them, paying particular attention to cords, plugs, and convenience receptacles. 11. SERVICING - Do not attempt to service this unit yourself as opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltage or other hazards. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. 4

5 12. DAMAGE REQUIRING SERVICE - Unplug the unit from the outlet and refer servicing to qualified service personnel under the following conditions: a. When the power-supply cord or plug is damaged. b. If liquid has been spilled, or objects have fallen into the unit. c. If the unit has been exposed to rain or moisture. d. If the unit does not operate normally by following the operating instructions. Adjust only those controls that are covered by the operating instructions as an improper adjustment of other controls may result in damage and will often require extensive work by a qualified technician to restore the unit to its normal operation. e. If the unit has been dropped or the enclosure has been damaged. f. When the unit exhibits a distinct change in performance - this indicates a need for service. 13. REPLACEMENT PARTS - When replacement parts are required, be sure the service technician has used replacement parts specified by the manufacturer or have the same characteristics as the original part. Unauthorized substitutions may result in fire, electric shock or other hazards. 14. SAFETY CHECK - Upon completion of any service or repairs to this unit, ask the service technician to perform safety checks to determine that the unit is in proper operating condition. 15. LIGHTNING AND POWER LINE SURGES - For added protection of this unit when it is left unattended and unused for long periods of time, unplug it from the wall outlet and disconnect the cable system. This will prevent damage to the unit due to lightning and power-line surges. 16. HEAT - The product should be situated away from heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other products (including amplifiers) that produce heat. 17. INSTALLATION - Install in accordance with the manufacturer s instructions. Do not install the unit in an extremely hot or humid location, or in a place subject to dust or mechanical vibration. The unit is not designed to be waterproof. Exposure to rain or water may damage the unit. Prior to installation and use of this product, please observe the following cautions and warnings. 13 ACUIX Housing Installation Manual 1 Installing the Housing Introduction The ACUIX product line offers housings for indoor and outdoor applications. The indoor application features a pendant housing for wall mounting. The outdoor application features a pendant housing with a sunshroud and heater and blower. The outdoor pendant housing can be mounted on a pendant mount, wall mount, or parapet mount. There are also adapters available for corner and pole mounting. This chapter provides instructions for mounting the different types of housings. Each housing contains an interface board that provides wiring for video on coax or unshielded twisted pair, and control data on shielded or unshielded twisted pair (RS485) or over coax. Refer to your specific mount manual for installing the mount. Refer to the ACUIX User Manual for installing the pan and tilt camera assembly and lower dome and for operation and programming information. 15 ACUIX Housing Installation Manual In-Ceiling (dropped) Housing Installation WARNING! Installation must be performed by qualified technical personnel and must be in accordance with all national and local mechanical and electric codes. Perform the following steps to install a dropped ceiling housing (see Figure 1-1): Figure 1-1 Dropped Ceiling Housing Installation Field wiring access hole Dropped Ceiling Plate Lower dome mounting posts (3 places) Attach lanyard to lower dome Drywall ceiling 1. Select the location of the housing. Each ACUIX requires a 24 VAC ± 10% power source when measured at the dome. Ensure a A power source is available. See Chapter 2, Wiring, Table 2-3 on page 25 for maximum wiring distances to the dome. 2. Remove the ceiling panel at the dome location. 3. Place the ceiling tile on the dropped ceiling plate. Trim the ceiling tile so you can press the ceiling tile into the dropped ceiling plate. 4. Cut a hole in the ceiling tile flush with the hole in the center of the plate. 5. If necessary, secure a safety cable (supplied by the installer) to a building support structure. Honeywell recommends using a 3/32 plastic coated aircraft cable. 6. Insert the housing in the ceiling a. Adjust the turning screws on the wing tabs to ensure the space between the wing tabs and housing flange is greater than the thickness of the ceiling. b. Position the wing tabs flat against the housing. Insert the housing through the hole in the ceiling. Using a Phillips screwdriver, turn the two screws in the housing clockwise to rotate the tabs out and tighten the tabs against the ceiling. The recommended maximum torque is N-m or lbf-ft or lbf-in. c. Insert the housing through the hole in the ceiling, ensuring the wing tabs are flat against the housing. 16 Installing the Housing 7. Refer to Wiring on page 21 for information on connecting the field wiring to the interface board in the housing. 8. Refer to the ACUIX User Manual to install the camera assembly and the lower dome. In-Ceiling Housing Installation WARNING! Installation must be performed by qualified technical personnel and must be in accordance with all national and local mechanical and electrical codes. Perform the following steps to install an ACUIX in-ceiling housing: 1. Select the location(s) of the housing(s). Each ACUIX requires a 24 VAC ± 10% power source when measured at the dome. Ensure a A power source is available. See Chapter 2, Wiring, Table 2-3 on page 25 for maximum wiring distances to the dome. 2. Cut a 7 5/8 (193.8 mm) diameter hole in the ceiling. Figure 1-2 In-Ceiling Hole Dimensions 7 5/8" (193.8 mm) Attach safety cable from building support structure to one of the lugs that secures the wing tab screw to the housing. 3. If the ceiling is drywall or plaster, Honeywell Video Systems recommends sealing the entire perimeter of the ceiling cut-out with tape or plastic channel (provided by the installer). This prevents dust and material from dropping from the ceiling. 16

17 ACUIX Housing Installation Manual 4. If required, secure a safety cable (supplied by the installer) to a building support structure. Honeywell recommends using a 3/32 plastic coated aircraft cable. Attach the safety cable (from the building support structure) to the housing by: a. Threading the safety cable through a looping sleeve, b. Around one of the lugs that secures the wing screws to the housing (refer to Figure 1-2), c. Back through the looping sleeve, and then d. Crimp the looping sleeve to secure the safety cable. 5. Insert the housing in the ceiling. Make sure the space between the wing tabs on the housing and the housing flange is greater than the thickness of the ceiling. Adjustments are made by turning the screws on the wing tabs; clockwise decreases the space between the tab and the housing flange and counterclockwise increases the space between the tab and the housing flange. Make sure the wing tabs on the housing are staggered so the tabs are not at the same height. Figure 1-4 Spacing Wing Tabs b. Position the wing tabs flat against the housing. Insert the housing through the hole in the ceiling (some jostling is required). Using a Phillips screwdriver, turn the two screws in the housing clockwise to rotate the tabs out and tighten the tabs against the ceiling. The recommended maximum torque is N-m (Newton meters) or lbf-ft (pound-force-foot) or lbf-in (pound-force-inch). Document Rev B 17

Refer to the ACUIX User Manual to install the camera assembly and the lower dome. Indoor Pendant Housing Installation WARNING! Installation must be performed by qualified technical personnel and must be in accordance with all national and local mechanical and electrical codes. Perform the following steps to install an ACUIX pendant housing on a Honeywell Video Systems indoor wall or ceiling dome mount. See Figure Select the location(s) of the housing(s). Each ACUIX requires a 24 VAC ± 10% power source measured at the housing. Ensure a A power source is available. See Chapter 2, Wiring, Table 2-3 on page 25 for maximum wiring distances to the dome. 2. Install the mount using the instructions provided with your specific mount. 3. Run the field wiring (control data, video, power, and alarm) through the mount. The wiring must extend at least one foot (0.3 m) past the pipe for wiring purposes. See Wiring on page 21 for detailed wiring information. 4. Locate the pendant housing. 19 ACUIX Housing Installation Manual a. Insert the field wiring (data, power, video, and alarm) from the mount through the threaded nipple on the pendant housing. b. Carefully thread the housing into the mount. 5. See Connections on page 22 for information on connecting the field wiring to the terminal strips on the interface board in the housing. 6. Refer to the ACUIX User Manual to install the camera assembly and the lower dome. Outdoor Pendant Housing Installation WARNING! Installation must be performed by qualified technical personnel and must be in accordance with all national and local mechanical and electrical codes. Perform the following steps to install an ACUIX outdoor dome on a Honeywell Video Systems outdoor mount: 1. Select the location(s) of the housing(s). Each ACUIX requires a 24 VAC ± 10% power source measured at the housing. Ensure a A power source is available. See Chapter 2, Wiring, Table 2-3 on page 25 for maximum wiring distances to the dome. 2. Install the mount using the instructions provided with your specific mount. Run the required field wiring through the mount for the ACUIX dome. The wiring must extend at least one foot (0.3 m) past the pipe for wiring purposes. See Wiring on page 21 for detailed wiring information. 3. Locate the 1-1/2 NPT conduit nut shipped loose with the mount. Wrap Teflon tape (installer supplied) around the threaded nipple on the outdoor pendant housing. 4. Carefully thread the conduit nut onto the threaded nipple on the outdoor housing until the connection is as tight as possible. Document Rev B 19

After the housing is threaded into the mount as far as it will go, thread the conduit nut on the housing up against the mount and tighten it. 6. See Connections on page 22 for information on connecting the field wiring to the interface board in the housing. Caution All joints, bolts, and screws in the mount must be properly sealed to prevent water (moisture) from entering the housing. 7. 21 ACUIX Housing Installation Manual 2 Wiring This chapter provides the recommended cable types, cable distances for proper operation of the ACUIX dome, and wiring connections in the housing. All field wiring is connected to the interface board installed inside the housing. Where applicable, Category 5 (CAT5) cables or higher should be used. 22 Wiring Connections Caution Installation must be performed by qualified technical personnel and must be in accordance with all national and local mechanical and electrical codes. The field wiring is connected to the interface board in the top of the ACUIX housing. 1. Route the field wiring (data, power, video, alarm) through the ACUIX mount, through the field wiring access hole in the housing and then through the access hole in the interface board installed in the housing. Remove the plug-in terminal blocks on terminal strips J1 and J6. You should only remove the plug-in terminal block on terminal strip J4 if you are using alarm inputs. 22

Install the 24 VAC power wires, data wires, video wires (if UTP is selected) and alarm wires on the correct positions on terminal strips J1, J4, J6, and J7. Caution To make good wire contact and ensure it does not short to adjacent wires, fully insert the wire in the hole on the terminal strip. Document Rev B 23

24 Wiring Note You can connect the data cable shield to Pin 6 (SH) on terminal strip J1. Use this connection for looping the shield through to the next dome in the daisy chain. It is not connected to the analog interface board. Both terminal strips J1 and J6 accept AWG wire. If larger or smaller field-run wire is required, a AWG wire must be spliced onto the field wire for insertion into the terminal strip. Surge suppression is not provided if the unit is not connected to a good earth ground. 5. Tighten the screw on the terminal strip to secure the wire. 6. Plug the terminal strips into their respective connectors on the interface board. Caution Ensure there are no bare wires touching or faulty operation may occur. 24

25 ACUIX Housing Installation Manual 7. If you are using a coaxial cable for video, connect the field-run coaxial cable to J3 on the interface board. Note When connecting field wiring, connect to either J3 or J7, not to both at the same time. 8. Secure the wires from the terminal strip and BNC connector (if applicable) together with a wire tire to ensure the cabling does not interfere with the rotation of the pan and tilt assembly. 9. Feed extra wire and cable up through the hole in the top of the housing and route it so that it doesn't interfere with the pan and tilt unit when it is inserted. Caution Ensure the cabling does not interfere with the rotation of the pan and tilt assembly when it is installed. Power The indoor ACUIX requires a 24 VAC power 1.9A, measured at the dome. The outdoor ACUIX requires a 24 VAC power 2.5A, measured at the dome. The following table shows the wire gauge required for maximum distances to maintain 24 VAC ± 10% at the dome. These wire sizes and distances represent one power source for one ACUIX. 26 Wiring Caution Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician. The proper wire size for the distance and the number of domes must be determined to maintain 24 VAC at each ACUIX. Do not use the above table for this type of configuration. For CE compliance, the ACUIX power supply must be connected to a CE approved 240V UPS (uninterruptible power supply). One of the following power supplies must be used to meet FCC and UL requirements. The data lines can be home-run wired or daisy-chain wired from the control output. Home-run wiring consists of one ACUIX per control output. The ACUIX must be terminated. Daisy-chain wiring consists of up to 32 domes per data run with the control output at one end of the run or in the middle of the run. If the control output is at the end of the data run, the last ACUIX on the end of the data run must be terminated and all intermediate dome s unterminated. If the control output is in the middle of the data run, the last ACUIX on both ends must be terminated, and all intermediate domes unterminated. 26

27 ACUIX Housing Installation Manual RS485 Termination RS485 communication is terminated using switch SW1 on the interface board installed in the ACUIX housing. SW1 is located near terminal strip J1, Pin 3. Connect the cable shield at the control unit. Control over Coaxial Cable The control equipment adds the data signal to the video coaxial cable. In this case, there are no connections made at Data+ and Data on the terminal strip J1. Caution For control over coaxial cable, the ACUIX must be set to VCL Video Telemetry (control over coax) protocol. The ACUIX must be controlled using an HMAX082 or HMAX162 control unit with HKJMMTP joystick controller. 28

29 ACUIX Housing Installation Manual Video Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP)/Coaxial Selection Video over Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) is selected at switch SW2 on the interface board installed in the housing. Switch SW2 is located above terminal strip J4, pin 1. Switch positioned toward ON: UTP video balun enabled, to be used with 120 Ohm UTP video operation. Video Over Coaxial Cable The video must be terminated in 75 Ohms at the last video device. If the video is not terminated or is double terminated, the resulting picture is poor and ghosting is displayed. Document Rev B 29

30 Wiring Video Over Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) If the UTP option is selected, the video is run on UTP wire and the BNC connector is not used. The video is connected at terminal strip J7, pins 1 and 2. A UTP-compatible receiver is required at the monitor to view and/or record the images. Caution The video on the UTP wire cannot be daisy-chained. The video lift and gain settings can be adjusted through the on-screen setup menus to compensate for cable distances over UTP wiring. Refer to the ACUIX User Manual, On-Screen Setup Menus, Enhanced Settings. Alarms Connect a twisted-pair cable from each peripheral alarm contact to each input at the alarm number terminal and the alarm common terminal on terminal strip J4. The alarm is a dry contact between the alarm terminal and the common terminal. The alarms can be configured as normally open or normally closed. Note that the common terminals are doubled up, as shown in Figure 2-7. Refer to the ACUIX User Manual, On-Screen Setup Menus, Control Options, Program Alarms for configuring the alarms.
