We discuss key operation, duplication, origination and key blank identification. We also discuss key board setup and part numbers. A list of the 100 most common key blanks is discussed. We will discuss key machine operation and best practices for adjustment, maintenance, and cutter care. Different types of locks are discussed and serviced as time permits. Each participant will disassemble locks in order to remove the lock cylinders. We will disassemble locks with a key. We will shim locks open. Lock cylinders are then disassembled to recombinate the locks. Students taking this class should have knowledge of basic three-dimensional lock designs. This class is for the locksmith interested in taking key generation to the next level. The Iocks in this class will be 2-track, 4-track, and Tibbe. We will be generating keys from scratch for GM, Ford, Mercedes, BMW, Honda, VW, Lexus, and Saab.
