4 POWER DOWNSTREAM UPSTREAM ONLINE Connection: What s involved? Connecting to the nbn network will involve the installation of new equipment both outside and inside your home. Standard installation is currently free of charge, but ask your phone or internet provider if there are any other fees. Arranging your installation To connect to the nbn network, contact a service provider and select a plan. They ll organise for an nbn approved installer to visit your home and install your equipment. The diagram below shows a standard installation. Depending on your home and your needs, your installation will include some or all of the nbn supplied equipment shown. 5 Choosing a speed tier to suit your needs With the nbn network, you have a choice of superfast speeds As nbn is a wholesaler, you will need to purchase your plan through an internet service provider. When selecting a broadband plan, keep in mind that anything above 25mbps is considered superfast. Your actual speeds are determined by your provider and the plan you choose and may also vary depending on things like their network capacity, your equipment, time of day and your location.
