GENERAL INFORMATION The Power Supply Equipment is designed to meet the main following standards : Building Product Directive CPD 89/106/CEE, NF EN 54-4 standard : Fire detection and fire alarm system Part 4 : Power Supply Equipment (P.S.E.) and NF EN standard : smoke and heat control systems Part 10 : Power Supply Equipment (P.S.E.) - class A. The product can be used in other areas than fire safety or fire protection subject to complying with the limits provided below in this document. Note : in addition to the main product features, this document describes the installation, connection, start up, operation and maintenance aspects. 2. DESIGN This product uses the cutting technology, which allows : Significant size and weight reduction Outstanding electrical yield leading to energy savings and Outstanding stability over time. HEPHEA 248 is made up of a metal box with an IP30 protection index, which contains the supply unit and the batteries. There are four indicators on the front side of the box, showing the various statuses of the product. Two separate outlets are available, each with their own fuse protection. Three other dry contact relay outlets are provided for distant supply source status information. 3. FUNCTIONAL FEATURES The supply unit supplies continuous voltage ranging from 21.6V to 28.8V depending on operating conditions and the room temperature (battery recharging compensated for temperature). The unit is permanently monitored and reports a defect when any of the following disorders occurs : No mains supply (no source or fuse defect), Battery disconnected, discharged or damaged, Battery fuse defect, No voltage on at least one outlet The batteries are checked via an internal functional test carried out at least every minute. In accordance with amendment A2 of the NF EN54-4 standard, the system also checks the value of the «Ri» internal resistance of the batteries and of the related circuit, and reports a defect when the value reading is 0.16Ω.

INSTALLATION In addition to electrician s tools, the following are needed when installing the products : 4 drift bolts, 4 screws and 4 washers (standard 6mm) ; 1 10mm wrench to fasten the metal battery blocking plaque. The box should be installed vertically and fastened to a stable wall adequate for the weight of the device. 3. CONNECTION 3.1. GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS Qualified personnel should handle the mains connections in compliance with applicable rules. At least the following criteria should be complied with : The mains cable should enter through a different hole than the hole used for the other cables. Use of grommets is required in the event of sideways penetration. Tie all low voltage cables into a bundle. The mains supply cable and low voltage cable bundle cable routes should be separate. For the mains connection, use 3 x 1.5² cable in Category C2 in the meaning of standard NF C For use outlets, use 2x1.5² or 2x2.5² cable in Category CR1 in the meaning of standard NF C For cables using relay outlets, use 1 pair 8/10 screen cable in Category C2 in the meaning of standard NF C Strip enough of the insulated conductors to allow their insertion in the respective terminals ; insert the conductors in the terminal board housings and tighten accordingly, without excessive strength to avoid cutting the conductors. The various conductors should not be tin-plated 3.2. MAINS CABLE CONNECTION Unless there is one already, install, upstream from the connection, a bipolar mains supply cut-off and protection system specifically dedicated to fire safety. Connect to the «Mains» terminal board (see figure 1) INSTALLING THE BATTERIES The batteries should be installed on the bottom of the box and fastened with the metal U bolt provided with the product. The product is supplied with a set of connection accessories allowing to connect the batteries.

PRELIMINARY CHECKS Before starting up the product, check that : The value of the insulation opposite the ground of all use outlet cable and report cable conductors is over 1MΩ ; The voltage on the mains ranges from 195 to 253V. 2. OPERATION Power up the device ; the «BATTERY FAULT», «OUTPUT 1» and «OUTPUT 2» indicators come on. Check the value of the voltage of each use outlets and connect the batteries ; the «BATTERY FAULT» indicator turns off. IMPORTANT COMMENTS : Beware not to switch the battery connections. Switching the polarity could damage the device. Use same type batteries in the same flammability class UL94-HB, UL-V0 or higher. After this, the supply is operational ; then connect the use and report cables. When the source failure reports are used, check the central equipment transmission quality

ABOUT LEAD STORAGE CELLS Status of supply unit When the battery voltage is correct, the indicator is on to indicate that the main source level is wrong. With the mains on, the indicator is on to indicate that the battery cannot perform. Indicator is on as long as the respective outlet is operational. It is advisable to change them every 4 years. MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS AND MARKINGS 21/05/ /03/ SAFETY AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS The equipment is designed to be connected to the main 230V network. In order to avoid any electrical shock hazard, the device should be powered down before any work. The products meet the EN :2001 standard. Working with the device on is allowed only when working with the device off is not possible. Any servicing should be carried out by qualified personnel only. An annual maintenance check is required, consisting at least in the following : Checking the battery aspect visually, Input and output (use outlets) voltage reading (mains), Checking the quality of the failure report transmission on each supply source COMPLIANCE MARKING Label affixed on the right hand side of the box)
