It has been a fantastic journey since back in 1985 AVK established the Saudi Valves Manufacturing Company as a local factory in Jeddah to manufacture valves and fire hydrants. We are honoured to be the first international company that established local manufacturing within our industry, and have participated in building the water and fire market in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Over the years, we have grown together with you and introduced new products and solutions to the market. Every single step we have taken has been based on the fundamental AVK principle, which is to focus on providing our customers long lasting products and to never compromise on the quality. This is the reason why AVK has been approved by Aramco as a key supplier for their valves and fire hydrants for 20 years. Similarly, our products can be found in many of the strategic water and sewage projects that the Ministry of Environment, Water & Agriculture and NWC have built around the Kingdom. Asia CHINA, HONG KONG, JAPAN AND KOREA AVK CHINA AVK was established in 1941 in the modest surrounding area of a small village named Galten in Denmark. The founder, Aage Valdemar Kjær (hence the name AVK), performed everyday plumbing and heating services in the local community. In addition to these everyday services, the company also had a minor production operation in which it produced compressors for the refrigeration industry, which mainly supplied farmers having a need for cooling the fresh milk from their cows. The guiding principles were quality, customer relations and continuity. He knew that the products were in order, and therefore he was able to offer an extensive product guarantee. In 1970, Aage Valdemar Kjær s son, Niels Aage Kjær, took over the business from his father and started to develop a resilient seated gate valve destined for the water supply segment. The first series of valves produced by AVK - socket gate valves for PVC pipes - was an important invention that revolutionised the company and formed the basis of the AVK business that we know today. Over time, business objectives were expanded, opportunities were growing, and AVK started to produce and sell not only valves, but also fittings and accessories for water supply, gas supply, wastewater treatment and fire protection. Today, AVK has grown into an international group of companies. Currently we employ more than 3,400 dedicated employees around the world. The group is one of the leading valve manufacturers for the water, gas, and wastewater industries as well as fire protection worldwide. 6 LOCAL MANUFACTURING AVK SVMC in 1980s AVK SAUDI PAST AND PRESENT AVK IN SAUDI ARABIA FOR MORE THAN THREE DECADES WITH BUSINESS EXPERIENCE AND LOCAL COMMITMENT OVER 30YEARS AVK Saudi Valves Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (AVK SVMC) was founded in 1985 in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Next, AVK started manufacturing more products in the line of valves and fire hydrants to be used in the industrial sector, including series 24 wet barrel hydrants and series 45 gate valves, all in accordance with ANSI & UL/FM standards. This enabled AVK SVMC to target the fast-growing oil and gas industry in Saudi. As a result, AVK Saudi obtained an approval from Aramco to supply valves and fire hydrants for all ARAMCO sites in In AVK Saudi quality products and excellent customer service is fundamental objective. Therefore, AVK Saudi is using the most advanced quality tools like LEAN and Six Sigma principles to optimise all of its processes and procedures, thereby securing efficiency and achieving maximum output and benefits for our customers. AVK SVMC in 90s AVK SVMC in 1990s AVK SVMC has more than three decades of solid experience in manufacturing and supplying of valves, fire hydrants, and a wide range of accessories for industrial and public utility services in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Since its establishment, Since its establishment, the company has grown significantly. It all started in 1985 when AVK SVMC established cooperation with Issa Bin Laden, a member of a family that owned and controlled one of the biggest companies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This cooperation between AVK SVMC and Issa Bin Laden came to an end in 2001 when AVK took over the shares owned by Bin Laden, rendering AVK Saudi the sole shareholder of the company. Through the 1990s, AVK SVMC diversified its production to include fire hydrants. As a result, its supply of valves, fire hydrants, and accessories grew considerbly in both the export and local market. In particular, during this period the exports to the GCC countries, which surround the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, started to increase. Therefore, AVK opened an office in Dubai in 1998, in order to improve the customer service in GCC. Over the years AVK has manufactured more than 700,000 valves and 100,000 fire hydrants in Saudi Arabia. The production has increased year by year in line with the rapid development of the water and fire industry in the Kingdom. Currently AVK Saudi employes around hundred and fifty people with different backgrounds and nationalities. The company is determined to provide equal opportunities to both males and females that are recruited through various Saudi graduation programs. 8 AVK SEGMENTS AVK SOLUTIONS AVK WATER SUPPLY Water Supply products have a long life due to the high quality of design, construction, manufacturing, and materials. AVK focuses on product quality and reliability. AVK s product program for water comprises a large range of valves, pipe fittings, and accessories available for all known pipe materials. AVK Saudi products conform to all common national and international standards, including ISO, CEN, DIN, NF, BS, GB, AWWA, JWWA, SABS, AS, and Gost. AVK produces a wide range of house connection valves of various materials such as ductile iron, brass, and a wide range of butterfly valves in double eccentric, centric, vulcanized and loose liner design. Additionally, we produce a variety of pipe fittings, tapping saddles, couplings and adaptors, stem extensions, and street covers. AVK WASTEWATER TREATMENT Wastewater Treatment is a natural by-product in modern societies. Wastewater from households, industry, and production causes waste and pollution and is thus a threat to our environment unless we handle and clean it properly. Wastewater is an aggressive medium requiring a high degree of corrosion protection of products. AVK Saudi offers a wide range of products for the handling and treatment of wastewater including valves mounted with pneumatic or electric actuators as well as position indicator, resilient seated gate valves, and metal seated gate valves, knife gate valves, penstock, butterfly, and more. Moreover, AVK Saudi produces non-return valves in the form of ball or swing check valves with a number of accessories. The product package for wastewater treatment is completed with a range of air valves, penstocks and additional fittings. Fire fighters must react fast and efficiently in dangerous situations, which call for a reliable water supply and fire equipment. AVK GAS SUPPLY Gas is an important energy source for heating, cooking, and production. The demand for safety in the gas distribution network is high. AVK has a long experience in producing valves for the gas distribution network, and AVK s products comply with the gas companies high demands for safety, reliable operation, and long service life. AVK SHOPS The opening of service centres is highly appreciated and valued among AVK S customers, as they can access products with ease. In addition, AVK has service centres equipped with a knowledgeable team to ensure that customers can receive technical know-how and superior support about the range of products offered by AVK before they purchase the products. All shops contain large stock facilities equipped with various products, most of which are fast moving and emergency stock items. AVK LEAKAGE SERVICE AVK MAINS TO METER AVK is highly focused on preserving water and ensuring that minimal water is lost through leaking transmission and pumping systems. A lot of water is lost through leakages contributing to non-revenue water and wastage of electricity. Therefore, AVK Saudi has established an experienced leakage service team who are working around the clock with the water authorities to stop water loss from leakages and provide advice for both permanent and temporary solutions. Furthermore, AVK Saudi runs a pressure management system to reduce the hidden drops in the piping system. Another of AVK s focus area is providing solutions for Mains to Meter. This is also referred to as house connections, which includes all products that are used to connect the household water meter box with the public water system in the simplest possible manner. 9 PRODUCTION PROCESS QUALITY MANAGEMENT APPROVED SUPPLIERS The selection of sub-suppliers is based on strict investigations auditing and controls to ensure proven ability to supply materials and services in accordance with the set rules and standards required by AVK. Suppliers must meet the same criteria that applies to all AVK production standards. REGISTRATION OF INCOMING MATERIALS Close control of incoming materials ensures that they meet the quality demands. Through spot tests and registration of all supplied components a quality sampling of the sub-suppliers and products are made to ensure optimum efficiency and a reliable supply. COMPONENTS PRODUCTION The components are machined according to drawings with detailed control instructions. Each operator is responsible for spot testing and completion of control papers. The measurement tools are calibrated by an external supplier according to fixed procedures. AVK is unique when it comes to High quality products. We are second to none when it comes to rubber compounds. We have our own research, vulcanization and coating facilities that enable us to deliver more durable products. Our products can withstand the harshest environmental conditions that call for the highest standards. But our quality guarantee will not end there. BLAST CLEANING All castings are blast cleaned ensuring that any unevenness in the surface of the castings is fully cleaned. This process ensures optimum adhesion of the coating. PRODUCT TESTING VARIETY OF COATING The majority of valves have as standard, epoxy coating according to DIN The epoxy is applied electrostatically in an enclosed booth, where the powder melt and cures on contact with the cleaned and preheated casting. Thorough control of layer thickness, adhesive strength and impact resistance is made to ensure optimum corrosion resistance. AVK has the capability to deliver also wet epoxy for different applications & environment. All valves are pressure tested before they leave the factory. The testing is carried out in accordance with DIN 3230, or any other requirement This is the customers guarantee for 100% tight valves. FINAL INSPECTION AND PACKING Before dispatch the coating finish and item number is inspected. The valves are packed in wooden pallets with corrugated cardboard carefully placed between valves to prevent damage of the coating during transportation. For extra protection the valves can be delivered with plastic bonnet and flange protectors. Quality for AVK is not limited to the product itself. It concerns the entire process, from the early specification to the implementation and after sales. Quality is not the result of a single link in the chain it is the sum of all steps.
