2 Foreword Automatic monitors are devices used to deliver large water flows for fire fighting purposes. This Monitors can be controlled manually or automatically by means of a remote control station. is a well known manufacturer of industrial heavy duty fire fighting monitors and their control systems with a strong expertise in electric, electro-hydraulic and hydraulic solutions. The monitors are available with a full bronze body suitable for heavy duty application such as aggressive chemicals plants or off shore platforms. Manufactured, with extreme care, every piece is designed to withstand extreme conditions granting long product lifetime. In this respect the material selection and the monitor design makes this equipment very robust and easy to maintain. Depending on the application the monitors can be equipped with jet/fog nozzles or branch pipes designed for water and water/foam solution. The automatic movements on the horizontal and vertical plane as well as the stream control (jet/fog)can be provided by hydraulic or electric actuators. Every monitor is designed to be controlled either manually or by remote controls available on a standard fixed station. Every remote station is designed according to client s specifications and may be manufactured for hydraulic or electric actuators. 3 NIAGARA 4 MO Niagara 4 MO is an hydraulic monitor in Bronze with a 4 single waterway capable of withstanding up to 8500 lt/min. The movements are obtained using hydraulic actuators equipped with an emergency handwheel for both movements. Both joints are built in the monitor casting using a double channel hosting the bronze phosphorous spheres. Shaped to keep the concentrated pressure losses to a minimum, the casting has a double internal waterway that helps the distribution of the reaction forces in the whole monitor body. In the standard version the monitor can rotate 360 stop to stop. The Niagara 4 MO/G/360 instead uses a special joint on the horizontal plane with oil channels passing inside the monitor body. This allows the monitor to rotate continuously in the horizontal plane. The MO/G/360 is often preferred for installation where protection of multiple targets is required. NIAGARA 4 MEO Niagara 4 MEO is an electric-hydraulic monitor in Bronze with a 4 single waterway capable of withstanding up to 8500 lt/min. The movements are obtained using hydraulic actuators equipped with emergency hand-wheel for both movements. The oil for the hydraulic actuator is pumped by electric motors located underneath the monitor. This application shows the advantage of an electrical installation without loosing the advantage of the hydraulic transmission. Both joints are built in the monitor casting using a double channel hosting the bronze phosphorous spheres. 4 BNO/CB The BNO is an hydraulically operated water/foam nozzle that is provided for installation with hydraulic and electro-hydraulic monitors Niagara 4 MO and MEO. The nozzle is made of bronze with internal parts in stainless steel and is actuated by a hydraulic piston with manual override. The movement of the nozzle allows for the stream to be discharged as full jet or wide fog. The nozzle is equipped with a flexible rubber cover designed to safeguard its moving parts during sand storms. The BNO is connected to the monitor using a square flange which guarantees full tightness and easy removal during maintenance. BNE/ATEX/CB The BNE is an electrically operated water/foam nozzle that is provided for installation with electric monitors Niagara 4 MEA. The nozzle is made of bronze with internal parts in stainless steel. The actuator is an electric motor with manual override that includes built in encoders for communicating nozzle position. The movement of the nozzle allows for the stream to be discharged as full jet or wide fog. The nozzle is equipped with a flexible rubber cover designed to safeguard its moving parts during sand storms. The BNE is connected to the monitor using a square flange which guarantees full tightness and easy removal during maintenance. LS LS is a water/foam branch pipe manufactured in SS AISI 316 with internal nozzle in aluminium. With a simple and cost effective design, it can be installed on all Niagara monitors by the standard square flange which guarantees tightness and easy removal during maintenance. The LS series branch pipes are equipped with lateral air inlet that allows air to be withdrawn and mixed with the stream. LI The LI water branch pipe is manufactured in SS AISI 316 with an aluminium nozzle. With a simple design it is used to deliver large quantities of water and can be installed on every Niagara monitors. PPM TF e TG Automatic monitors are often selected to protect marine terminals or refining installation where it is required to approach the fire from a certain height above ground. In this respect SA has developed a series of self standing modular designed structures that may be used to set up monitors at the highest level above protected targets. The structure is manufactured in module and designed for easy erection on site. The Turret comes together with all accessories such as, external cooling system, internal main feeder, base valves and external ladder. The top of the turret may be equipped with a rotating platform that moves on the horizontal plane together with the automatic monitors. Mechanical connections from the monitor to the turret are built in the Niagara monitor body making the installation easy and straightforward. Below the turret, service controls for monitor enabling and disabling are available for maintenance operators. This is in order to safeguard them from being hurt by any erroneous remote operation that may came from ground stations.
