It provides a mechanical and environmental protection for all the fiber optic components and permits easy access by both the network provider and the customer. The box is applicable indoor and inside street cabinets. The FIST-SB2-8 box is designed to terminate, and patch fibers, it can handle up to 8 connectors. 2 General 2.1 Tools Hammer Screwdriver Marker Fiber guiding pin FACC-tube-cutter-01 to cut loose tubes FACC-TUBE-Stripper-02 to strip loose tubes

2 2.2 Kit contents Depending the network and the construction of the used cables, standard kits or application kits can be ordered, see ordering guide. The standard kit will be: The Cover (including 4 screws) 4 pcs of mounting bolts, plugs and seals for wall mounting. The box base + mounting plate for splicing module (FIST-SOSA2) Pre installed-universal Mounting System profile. - Tray lid and tray wedge - Cable strain relief connector, foam and tie wrap - Patchpannel and cable termination plate - Hinges for cover + instruction - 1 PG 16 pressure gland ø range 6-14 mm The application kits include all the above and the necessary FIST-SOSA2 splicing modules connector adapters and pigtails (pre-installed) splice protectors (SMOUV) or ANT can also be ordered pigtail seals Break out the ports to be used. 3 Installation 3.1 Preparation of box Unlock the screws and remove the cover. Cables can enter the box via bottom (1+2), the right side (3) or the top (4) Install the gland in the selected port and tighten the nut on the inside of the box. 2

3 3.2.2 Feed the cable through the cable port gland. 4 Cable installation 4.1 Cable preparation Prepare the cable, strip and clean the cable over a length of 1800 mm. and cut the strength member at 30 mm length Pull the cable back. the cable jacket should protrude 50 mm into the box. 4.2 Cable termination Mount the strength member connector and tighten the connector with a screwdriver (2). If needed one should release the bolts of the base-plate and lift the base-plate to mount the strength member connector (1) Insert the tie wrap. 3.2 Mounting of the box on the wall 1 30 mm 50 mm Secure the cable with a tie wrap onto the cable attachment plate and fix the strength member Hold the base part onto the wall and use a screwdriver to indicate the position of the 4 holes to be drilled (1). Insert the screws, plugs and tighten. Install the FIST-SOSA. If needed, one can use the 4 knock-out holes to fix the box (2); dimensions at the backside of the box. 3

4 4.2.2 Route the tubes up to the metal tube holder according to the drawings. Mark the loose tubes. Cut and remove the excess of the loose tube and clean the fibers. Fix the loose tube with tie wrap and foam Cable-cable (splice only). Cables can also enter via top or right side Remove the traywedge and lid, route the fibers on the trays. Pull gently on the fibers in the tray and make sure that the fibers are well contained in the wraparound groove plate Store the fibers temporarily on a tray Cable-cable (using connectors). Cables can also enter via top or right side. 4

5 5 Pigtail installation 5.1 Using connectors Insert the pigtails or jumpers in the rubber wrap around seal of the gland Open the gland, remove the rubber wrap around seal, pull the pigtails through the gland, and plug in the connectors (do not forget the nut) Position the rubber pigtail seal in the gland, avoid pigtail crossings in the gland. 5

6 5.2.4 In case of 2 pigtails/ktu;identify 1 of the fibers with a marking pen Guide the prepared pigtails in the KTU.Make sure the Kevlar yarns do not entangle the fibers.keep the Kevlar from each pigtail separated Tighten the gland (see instaled box). 5.2 Installation pigtails using KTU Pull the pigtail through the gland and put a mark at 2 meters of the pigtail end Slide the inner part to the left as much as possible by pulling the jacket and Kevlar at the same time. Cut the excess Kevlar leaving 5-10 mm Remove the jacket beyond the marking point and cut the Kevlar, leaving mm from the edge of the jacket In case of less Kevlar (typically this means pigtail diameter <2,3 mm):wrap the Kevlar to ensure a good strain relief Mount the two pieces as shown. 6

7 5.3 Installation of FIST-PTS 24 seal in case of 16 pigtails Slide the pigtails through the housing and position pigtails into a groove of the seal. Select the groove by turning the ring Mount the KTU in the patch pannel and route the fibers as shown Wrap the seal around the pigtails Mount the foam on the fibers (do not tighten too much) and route the fibers on the trays Slide the seal into the housing by holding the pigtail, and pushing the seal upwards. 7

8 5.3.4 Move the cold seal locking ring onto the housing Fiber routing Fasten the bolt with an Allen key (hand tight, between thumb and forefinger). 8

9 6 Fiber organization on trays after splicing Splice the fibers and take the splice protector and put it centered towards the splice holder Place the fibers back on the tray In case of 4 fibers/tray, one should strip the 900 μ coating away, starting in the groove plates. This is applied when 16 pigtails are spliced. 9

10 7 Closing the box Secure the trays by using the metal tray-wedge When hinges on the cover are applied, follow installation instructions included in the pack Place the cover on the box base and secure the cover with the screws. 10
