WA R N I N G The accuracy of G-TECTA Cellaguard instruments should be checked periodically with known concentration calibration gas. Failure to check accuracy can lead to inaccurate and potentially dangerous readings. WA R N I N G Ensure maintenance and calibrations are carried out in accordance with the procedures in the installation & maintenance manual. WA R N I N G Ensure only qualified service personnel change sensors and batteries. Introduction G-TECTA Cellaguard is a carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) or a carbon dioxide and oxygen (O 2 ) fixed monitoring system, designed to monitor gas levels in a confined space such as a beer cellar. The Cellaguard system consists of a wall mounted base station, housing the gas monitoring system, and is normally supplied with one repeater unit to be located in a safe position outside the confined space area. There are two main versions of the G-TECTA Cellaguard ; Version 1 is a carbon dioxide monitor only, which looks for rising CO 2 gas levels in the confined space; Version 2 is a combined sensor system which monitors both rising levels of carbon dioxide and falling levels of oxygen. G-TECTA Cellaguard features two alarm relays, which can control external visual or audible alarms or ancillary equipment such as a ventilation fan. The Cellaguard system is simple to install using a mains power supply and has been designed for one-man installation. The alarm levels are factory set and the relays are fail-safe to ensure the alarms will activate if the power supply fails. The G-TECTA Cellaguard is normally supplied with one repeater unit. The repeater unit mimics the alarms, fault alarm, power indicator, mode button and sounder on the base unit. A series of up to 4 repeater units can be connected together at distances of up to nine metres per repeater. This allows the user to position the alarm system warnings in visible and convenient locations. Operation & Setup G-TECTA Cellaguard Base Station Features Power Fault LED Mains Power Display G-TECTA Cellaguard CO 2 Base Station Note: The CO 2 & O 2 version of G-TECTA Cellaguard will have two sensor positions The base station houses the gas sensors, a display, a mode button, four illuminating LEDs and a sounder. There are electrical connections for mains power, two relay outputs and the repeater unit at the bottom of the base station. A 2 metre mains cable and two carbon dioxide warning labels are also provided. G-TECTA Cellaguard Repeater Features The repeater has a mode button, four illuminating LEDs and a sounder. The repeater mimics the output of the base station and is supplied with a 9 metre connection cable. 3 4 5 Mode Button: The mode button is located on both the base station and the repeater and is used to communicate with Cellaguard. The mode button is used for the display backlight function, the monitor self-test procedure and to silence the sounder in the event of an alarm or fault occurring. Base Station Display The Cellaguard base station display shows the actual gas levels being monitored. Carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) is shown as a percentage value and in normal environments (safe level) will display 0 to 0.2%. G-TECTA Cellaguard monitors with the oxygen sensor option will display alternate readings of CO 2 and O 2. Normal oxygen gas level concentration is 20.9%. Display Backlight The display backlight is activated by quickly pressing the mode button. G-TECTA Cellaguard Initial Setup The Cellaguard is designed to work out of the box and requires no configuration of the gas sensors or alarm settings. Once the Cellaguard base station and repeater unit(s) are installed, you can switch on the mains supply. The Cellaguard system will become fully operational after a 40-second warm-up period. Note: The LED alarms and sounder will operate momentarily during this period and the display will self-test. WA R N I N G Carbon dioxide warning labels The Cellaguard is supplied with two carbon dioxide warning labels. Carbon Dioxide can cause asphyxiation in low concentrations and it is important to affix the labels at eye level and in a prominent position at the entrance to the confined space being monitored (normally next to the repeater). Write the name and contact details (in the box provided) of the person responsible for the confined space to contact in the event of an alarm. Oxygen alarms are instantaneous. When the gas level(s) have returned to normal, the alarm LEDs will automatically extinguish and the Cellaguard will return to normal operating mode. LED extinguished LED on continuously Sounder beeps every 20 seconds G-TECTA Cellaguard Alarm conditions for Base Station and Repeaters When the alarm gas level is exceeded the sounder and alarm LEDs will operate as below: Pre-alarm and main alarm relay connections active Note: The sounder and illuminating LEDs will reactivate if the alarm level(s) are exceeded again.

4 6 7 G-TECTA Cellaguard Fault Alarm The system fault alarm will activate if a sensor fault condition occurs. If the system fault alarm is activated the G-TECTA Cellaguard will beep twice every second and the yellow warning LED will flash. Note: If the fault alarm activates, please contact The Linde Group to arrange for a replacement sensor to be fitted. G-TECTA Cellaguard Mode Button (Alarm function) The mode button is used to communicate with the Cellaguard system after an alarm has been triggered. Press and hold the mode button for 5 seconds to silence the Cellaguard alarm sounder. The alarm LEDs will continue to flash in an alarm condition (i.e. CO 2 gas is still present or there are low levels of oxygen). WA R N I N G In the event of an alarm condition, DO NOT ENTER THE ROOM. Contact the person responsible for the confined space area. Carbon Dioxide and Oxygen deficiency can cause instant death. Note: Electrical connections for the optional external alarm equipment are located inside the Cellaguard base station -one connection terminal is provided for the main alarm and one for the pre alarm. G-TECTA Cellaguard Self-Test A self-test routine is provided to test the Cellaguard and any ancillary equipment attached via the alarm relays. To run the self-test routine, press and hold the mode button for 5 seconds. The self-test can be initiated from the base station or any of the repeater units. The base station display will illuminate and test all display segments and the Cellaguard will alarm for a period of 10 seconds; illuminating the alarm LEDS, activating the sounder, and activating any additional ancillary alarm equipment connected to the Cellaguard relays. Gas Testing Functional Testing G-TECTA Cellaguard monitors should be functionally tested, as a minimum, every 12 months to ensure that the sensors and alarms are operational. Carbon Dioxide (CO 2 ) Cellaguard Monitors Periodic testing may be performed simply by using exhaled breath to generate high CO 2 alarms. Exhaled breath contains approximately 4% CO 2, and therefore contains sufficient levels of CO 2 gas to cause alarms on the Cellaguard monitor. CO 2 sensors have a life expectancy of more than 5 years in normal operating environments. Carbon Dioxide (CO 2 ) and Oxygen (O 2 ) Cellaguard Monitors Periodic testing of both sensors may be performed simply by using exhaled breath to generate high CO 2 and low oxygen alarms. Exhaled breath contains approximately 4% CO 2 and 16% oxygen, and therefore contains sufficient levels of each gas to cause alarms on the Cellaguard monitor. The Oxygen sensor must be replaced every 3 years. Note: The Linde Group also recommends full recalibration after 3 years of use. G-TECTA Cellaguard Functional Testing Process 1. Find a suitable plastic bag 2. Inflate the plastic bag by blowing gently into it 3. Hold the open end of the inflated bag tightly over the sensor(s) and wait until the alarms activate. 4. The Cellaguard display will show increased levels of CO 2 and decreased levels of oxygen (if fitted). The O 2 alarm (if fitted) will activate instantly and the CO 2 alarm after approximately 25 seconds. G-TECTA Cellaguard Options Battery Backup The Cellaguard can be fitted with an optional battery, providing 2 hours of power backup in the event of mains power failure. When in backup mode the Cellaguard will beep every 20 seconds. Additional repeater units Up to 4 repeater units can be connected to the Cellaguard base station. Each repeater is supplied with a 9m cable. G-TECTA Cellaguard Calibration Unit The Cellaguard Calibration Unit allows the service engineer to calibrate the sensors in the Cellaguard monitor. The Linde Group recommends calibration every 3 years to ensure correct operation of the Cellaguard monitor. Note: Sensor re-calibration is typically offered as an after sales service for the Cellaguard monitor please contact The Linde Group for further details

Damages to any Linde Group products that result from abuse, alteration, power fluctuations including surges and lightning strikes, incorrect voltage settings, incorrect batteries, or repair procedures not made in accordance with the product s Operating Manual, are not covered by The Linde Group warranty. The obligation of The Linde Group under this warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of components deemed by The Linde Group Service Department to have been defective under the scope of this standard warranty. To receive consideration for warranty repair or replacement procedures, products must be returned with transportation and shipping charges prepaid to The Linde Group, or to a Linde Group Authorised Warranty Service Centre. It is necessary to obtain a return authorisation number from The Linde Group prior to shipment.
