1 Avia Park: Russia's largest retail project opens Located in the center of Moscow, Avia Park with an area of 399,564 square meters is Russia s largest shopping and leisure complex. It is built on the site of a former military airbase. The groundbreaking ceremony was held in November 2012, and the complex opened its doors only two years later. Drees & Sommer supported the multifunctional project as the principal s representative and project controller. What is currently the largest retail project in Russia and Europe has been built in northwest Moscow on the site of a former military airbase near the intersection of the third ring road and Leningradsky Prospekt. Construction started at the end of Back in 2008, Drees & Sommer had already supported the concept and planning phase of the project, assisting the project developer and contractor AMMA Development. The complex houses a range of retail stores, a movie theater with 17 screens, 80 restaurants, a winter garden, and an aquarium with tropical fish on 230,000 square meters of leasable area extending over four levels. 500 brand shops representing a range of vendors (fashion, furniture, household goods, etc.) are also to be found in the leisure and shopping complex. Anchor tenants include British department store chain Debenhams, the French hypermarket chain Auchan, the home furniture store Hoff, the pan-european hardware store chain OBI, and the electronics specialist Media Markt. Well-known brands such as Mango, Zara, Adidas, Francesco Marconi, Salamander, Henderson, Chancellor, Chester, Tervolina, Terranova and Basconi also occupy a large share of the leasable space. The mall is not only shopping destination, but also the venue for numerous events. Visitors can participate in workshops, fashion shows, exhibitions, concerts, theatrical performances as well as outdoor sports events. On the fourth floor of the complex is the Green Zone, a park-like area. Avia Park has been realized by the Turkish-Russian construction company Renaissance Construction. It is based on the design concept developed by the famous American architectural firm Callison. One of the design highlights is the 40,000 square meter glass roof.

2 Over 6.8 million people live in the shopping complex s catchment area. The center is easy to reach by public transport via several metro stations, as well as by car. The shopping and leisure complex has parking for 5,000 cars. The project is part of the Khodynsky Field cultural district project, which is still under construction. Drees & Sommer has previously collaborated successfully with both the project developer and the principal on the construction of the Ikea Mega Centers in St. Petersburg and Rostov-on-Don.
