Working On-Site: How One TREND Franchisee Built Her Business Cynthia Mayo got the urge to work with TREND Transformations back when we were still Granite Transformations. In the search for a product to remodel her kitchen in her Santa Rosa, California home, Mayo saw Granite Transformations product on HGTV Home and Garden Television, a channel that features home makeovers and real estate tips and was impressed that the granite could fit over the top of tiles. Once she had it installed in her own home she was hooked. Mayo was so impressed with the quality of her countertop that she called the Bay Area Granite Transformations franchise to find out if they needed a sales representative in Sonoma County. They did, and Mayo started working right away, selling eighteen home makeovers almost immediately. A Franchisee Is Born A short time after she started selling for the Bay Area franchise, Mayo decided to open her own franchise in Sonoma County. She bought 50% of her franchise, and three minor investors purchased the other half. The 3,000 square foot showroom provides ample space for Mayo s customers to examine the products she sells. In addition to their staff, Mayo and Schroeder depend on operations manager Debbie Sweet and administrative assistant Crystal. 20 Never Afraid of a Challenge It is obvious that Mayo does not limit herself. As the owner of three franchises in her area, Mayo clearly has a feel for business that keeps her going strong. And she has no plans of stopping. Mayo s franchises do remodels for kitchens and bathrooms equally. Mayo has not shied away from the different challenges associated with doing bathroom makeovers, saying, We use subcontractors to carry out the plumbing work and install the slab, mosaic tiles, and hard flooring ourselves. 21 The Finishing Touches: Moving In Meet the Management Team Andrea Di Giuseppe, Global CEO Andrea serves as Chairman of the Board and Global CEO for TREND Group, with offices throughout the world. He oversees worldwide operations with regular visits to Italy, Brazil and India, as well as the UK, USA, Canada and Australia. Past experience in the family tile business, and his early days with Bisazza, give him the expertise to direct the factory, guide product development, and direct TREND s sales and product mix as well as TREND Transformations growth and development. He does this through an integrated management program that counts on managers in each country working together, focusing on growing the brands through innovation and integration. He splits his time between Miami, Florida and Vicenza, Italy. He is married to Federica Bisazza and has two young, energetic boys! Danny Hanlon, Global COO As Global Chief Operating Officer, Danny oversees business development across the world. As an apprentice cabinetmaker and a member of the original TREND Transformations franchise, Danny has plenty of handson experience, which is useful in his work providing franchise owners with effective marketing, technical support, and operational budgets. 22 Patrizio Virdo, Chief Financial Officer A Buenos Aires native with an Italian education, Patrizio has almost 20 years of experience in the U.S. wholesale and distribution market. He holds both degrees in both Accounting and Economics, focused and specialized in corporate finances. He lives in Miami with his wife and his extended family of rescued dogs and cats. Mike Mallory, VP of Franchise Development A strong proponent of collaboration and teamwork, Mike has over 25 years of both selling and sales management experience. He has a degree in Sales & Marketing from the University of South Florida and is a Paul Harris Fellow with the Rotary Foundation. In his current role, he is working to grow the franchise network and provide the necessary training and development support. 23 Dugan Aylen, Head of Franchise Recruitment and Resales Formerly an independent franchise recruitment consultant, Dugan initially worked on the TREND Transformations account, where he helped guide potential franchises through the entire investment process, before joining RSG on a full-time basis. As our Head of franchise recruitement and resales for both North America and the UK, he employs print, online and direct marketing techniques to find suitable candidates, and maintains a dialogue with prospects to ensure a good fit with our franchise offering. Jaime Diaz, Global Chief Branding Officer Jaime joined our company as Global Chief Branding Officer, where he is responsible for the company s new brand positioning strategy. As a result of our rebranding project, Jaime works across all markets and for all three brands in the TREND Group. He advises on advertising, marketing and brand communication. 24 Jason Langford, Regional Brand Director Jason manages all marketing, advertising, communications and public relations for The Americas. He oversees the creative strategy and direction for the company encompassing print, TV, digital, social media and more. He is in charge of developing the different marketing budgets throughout the company and manages key strategic relationships with our various agencies and vendors. Jason is also in charge of the TREND Transformations rebranding project for The Americas.
