2 This full transformation of a 1950's bungalow included a 500q' addition and complete removal of the roof, and adding of a new vaulted roof peaking at 19'. The desire was to create a clean mid century modern feel from this tired and cramped home. We were able to add windows across the ridge and enlarge many of the original windows to bring the natural lighting into the space. 3 Renovating a designated heritage property is not for the faint of heart. You must maintain the history and architectural integrity of the home and honour the original design. My design challenge was to create an open concept kitchen/dining room space that looked as if it had always been there, without changing the window sizes/locations and using the existing spaces. A cramped eat in breakfast booth was converted to a charming butler's pantry featuring a wine fridge and loads of new storage. The old wall between the kitchen and dining room now features an eating bar and cooking penninsula with a historcially inspired suspended hoodfan above. A european flavour was added with hand painted, imported tiles from Portugal to add pattern, colour and personality. 5 This was a wonderful renovation project that has brought this Mid 70 s home crying for an update into a new era of family fun. Clean and modern was the goal of this transitional kitchen. It shows the best of our abilities to work on a set budget from our clients & create a kitchen that is on par with a new show home. 6 This family was looking for a new look for their outdated kitchen. Their initial design was transitional shaker style cabinets with a dark china cabinet. However, before production the client attended the Regina Spring Home Show where she fell in love with our modern display. The overall design included contrasting but complimentary textures, colours and sheens. This includes high gloss white doors contrasting with low sheen dark stained wood accents. A substantial wood border adds definition and compliments the look. The homeowners wanted a large island to be the focal point and given the large space available, a unique custom oversized island measuring 17 feet in length was designed. Texture was also a key feature of this design, including a custom high gloss white backsplash which framed the window and incorporated light switches and plugs into the design pattern. The removal of a separating wall was the perfect place to start. This allowed for the space to immediately become more open, bright and modern. Cabinet space was increased with the addition of a pantry to the side of the island. Now they have the space to accommodate everyone and still have a functional kitchen. 9 The original layout of this main floor renovation consisted of a kitchen, dining room, living room, and family room, all of which were divided by walls and were their own separate rooms. The customer's vision behind this project was to create a bright open concept kitchen, living area. To obtain this we had to remove walls, one being a load bearing wall, which we replaced with an LVL beam, we also relocated the main floor washroom. To increase the size of the kitchen we added a 2' x 20' addition to the back which houses cabinets, patio door, and 8' window. One of the biggest challenges behind this project was finding new homes for the heat and cold air runs to the 2nd floor because of all the walls that were removed. This main floor renovation also consisted of new flooring, interior doors, trim and a relocated main floor bathroom. 11 This magnificent kitchen renovation has a true custom designer appearance. The new kitchen seamlessly fits into the overall design of the home. Other key elements of the home were renovated to introduce walnut in place of some of the natural maple creating fluidity and is visually appealing. The clients wanted a farmhouse style Kitchen and a dining area what could hold their large extended families. They wanted the Kitchen to be part of the entertaining space so that everyone could talk to each other and spend time together. They wanted to incorporate materials from their family farms into this new acreage and bring some heritage inside their space. Most importantly they wanted a space for their family to come together and make memories and they most important room was the open concept Kitchen and Dining area.
