Separate manuals cover the remaining DSE modules supported by the software. The DSE Configuration Suite allows the DSE9400 series to be connected to a PC via USB A USB B cable. Once connected the various operating parameters within the charger can be viewed or edited as required by the engineer. This software allows easy controlled access to these values and also has diagnostic monitoring facilities. The DSE Configuration Suite should only be used by competent, qualified personnel, as changes to the operation of the module may have safety implications on the panel to which it is fitted. The information contained in this manual should be read in conjunction with the information contained in the appropriate module documentation. This manual only details which settings are available and how they may be used. A separate manual deals with the operation of the charger (See section entitled Bibliography elsewhere in this document). 3 INSTALLATION AND USING THE DSE CONFIGURATION SUITE For information in regards to installing and using the DSE Configuration Suite Software please refer to DSE publication: 057-151 DSE Configuration Suite PC Software Installation & Operation Manual which can be found on our website: www.deepseaplc.com 5

DSE94xx Configuration Suite PC Software Manual 4 EDIT CONFIG This menu allows module configuration, to change the function of Inputs, Outputs and LED s, system timers and level settings to suit a particular application. 4.1 SCREEN LAYOUT NOTE: The Charger Output 2 and Battery 2 sections are only available for the DSE9462 battery charger. The type of configuration file being edited Move to the Previous or Next configuration page The coloured shading shows the currently selected page. Close this configuration file Click + or to show or hide the sub settings within each sections. Click to select the subsection to view / edit 6

Edit Configuration 4.2 CHARGER Free entry boxes to allow the user to give the configuration file a description. Typically this is used to enter the job number, customer name, engineers name etc. Select the output voltage of the charger. Not available for DSE9450, DSE9452, DSE9462, DSE9473, DSE9474, DSE9479, DSE9483 and DSE9484 Applicable on the DSE9473 only. Enable the battery voltage sensing wires. Only available for DSE9450, DSE9452, DSE9462, DSE9474, DSE9479, and DSE9484 Enable or disable the alarms. The relevant value below appears greyed out if the option is disabled. Only available for DSE9450, DSE9452, DSE9462, DSE9474, DSE9479, and DSE9484 Type the value or click the up and down arrows to change the settings Not available for DSE9450, DSE9452, DSE9462, DSE9474, DSE9479, and DSE9484 Parameters are detailed overleaf. Not available in the DSE9450 configuration 7

Edit Configuration 4.2.1 DIGITAL INPUT SELECTIONS Parameter Charger Off Enable Battery Detection Lamp Test Manual Boost Switch To Alternative Voltage Mode Description This input turns off the charger output When active, the battery charger detects the presence of the battery and illuminates its LEDs to indicate the status. This input illuminates all on board LEDs This input forces the charger into boost mode This input switches the output voltage to the alternative mode i.e. if the default voltage mode is set to 12V, activating this input changes the output voltage to 24V. 4.2.2 CABLE VOLTAGE DROP NOTE: Only available when the battery charger is connected to the battery with no active alarms and the mains supply is available. Parameter Alarm Alarm Delay Return Return Delay Description Only available for DSE9450, DSE9452, DSE9474, DSE9479, and DSE9484 The alarm activates when the voltage difference between the battery charger output and the Battery Voltage Sensing terminals exceeds the Alarm trip setting for longer than the Alarm Delay duration. Only available for DSE9450, DSE9452, DSE9462, DSE9474, DSE9479, and DSE9484 The alarm is deactivated when the voltage difference between the battery charger output and the Battery Voltage Sensing terminals falls below the Return setting for longer than the Return Delay time. 4.2.3 BATTERY CHARGER SELF TEST NOTE: Battery Charger Self Test is not available on the DSE9462 Intelligent Battery Charger. Parameter Enable Self Test Timer Description = Feature disabled. = The battery charger performs a self test in a regular interval set by the Self Test Timer. The alarm activates when an internal failure is detected. Set the time interval between the Battery Charger Self Test runs. 8

Edit Configuration 4.2.4 CHARGER FAILURE Parameter Alternative Charge Source Delay Description = The Alternative Charge Source is disabled and the Charger Failure Alarm activates when the battery charger measures a voltage higher than its output voltage. The alarm is delayed by the configurable Delay timer. This is useful when the battery charger switches from Bulk mode to Float charging mode, as the battery voltage remains higher than the battery charger output voltage for a short amount of time. = The Alternative Charge Source is enabled and the Charger Failure Alarm no longer activates when the battery charger measures a voltage higher than its output voltage. This is useful when a DC Alternator is fitted on the engine and supplies a voltage higher than the battery charger. When the Alternative Charge Source is disabled, this sets the time delay for the Charger Failure Alarm. 4.2.5 SHORT CIRCUIT ALARM NOTE: Not available in the DSE9450 Intelligent Battery Charger s configuration. Parameter Enable Delay Description = The Short Circuit Alarm is disabled; however the battery charger switches its output off when a short circuit is detected. = The Short Circuit Alarm is enabled and activates when a short circuit is detected for longer than the configurable Delay timer. Set the time delay for the Short Circuit Alarm. This is useful to delay the alarm when the engine crank motor is engaged; the battery charger detects the current drawn by the crank motor as a short circuit. In this case, the charger immediately switches its output off for protection but the alarm is delayed. 4.2.6 SOFT START NOTE: Available only on the DSE9473 Intelligent Battery Charger. Parameter Enable Description = The Soft Start is disabled. = The Soft Start is enabled. The charger rises its output voltage to the required DC voltage level in steps, and takes longer time to reach the maximum output voltage level. This feature helps to reduce the inrush current caused by the capacitive loads or deeply discharged batteries. 9

Edit Configuration 4.3 BATTERY The inputs page is subdivided into smaller sections. Select the required section with the mouse. 4.3.1 BATTERY SETTINGS Enable or disable the external Battery Temperature Sensor (PT1000). The relevant values below appear greyed out if the option is disabled. Type the value or click the up and down arrows to change the settings Click and drag to change the settings Over Temperature Alarms Alarm Alarm Delay Return Return Delay The alarm activates when the battery temperature exceeds the Trip value setting for longer than the Trip Delay time duration. The alarm is deactivated when the battery temperature falls below the return value setting for longer than the Return Delay duration. Voltage Compensation / C NOTE: For further information on the temperature compensation, refer to the product s Operator Manual which can be found on our website: www.deepseaplc.com Set the variation of the charger output voltage for each degree Celsius of temperature change. This is normally specified by the battery manufacturer. 10

Edit Configuration 4.3.2 BATTERY PROFILE NOTE: For a 2-Stage charging profile, select a 3-Stage profile and configure Boost Voltage and Float Voltage to the same value. Click to select the appropriate battery charging profile for your batteries Create and Save Custom Battery Profiles Adjust the Current Limit of the charger output. Choose between 3 Stage and 4 stage profile and set the number of battery cells The value the charger output voltage must drop below to go into the Bulk charge state.
