Meeting Objective Allow Stakeholders to participate in the data collection effort associated with the Existing Conditions element of D2. Stakeholders will make brief (approx. 5-minute) presentations of their development plans, current or future operations and issues and concerns related to the development of D2. This SWG Meeting is focused on the Young/Jackson (east/west) segment; the subsequent SWG meeting will focus on the Lamar/DART ROW (north/south) segment. 3

Project Status September 2015 Submitted Lamar/Young D2 Alternative to FTA for project rating and funding; noting that the LPA is Lamar/Young/Jackson November 2015 FTA approved DART s request to enter Project Development (PD) December 2015 FTA considers September submittal complete PD Kick-off meetings February 2015 Received favorable (medium-high) rating from FTA for D2 project Finalized scope of work for remaining PD efforts with contractor 5

Historic Resources Along Proposed D2 Alignment Knights of Pythias Temple 2551 Elm Commerce Street City of Dallas Landmark, NRHP Eligible Built 1916 Designed in the Beaux Arts style by William Sydney Pittman, Dallas first African American architect Important component of the social, cultural and architectural history of the African American community in Dallas Plans call for rehabilitation of the building for a boutique hotel with additional new construction on the site Potential noise and vibration from trains are a concern
Historic Resources Along Proposed D2 Alignment Statler Hilton 1914 Commerce Street NRHP Completed 1956 Designed by William Tabler Largest hotel in the Southwest when constructed Unique curtain wall façade with enamel steel panels and modular design One of the best examples of Mid- Century Modern architecture in Dallas Currently under rehabilitation for hotel, apartments, and retail Historic Tax Credit Project with projected investment of $175,000,000 Service access and access to the parking garage all occur off of Jackson Street
Historic Resources Along Proposed D2 Alignment Lone Star Gas Lofts 301 South Harwood Street NRHP Complex of three different buildings 1937 Lang & Witchell design, 1931, 1966, and 1979 The 1931 building is one of the best examples of Art Deco architecture in the city Seal Team 6 used the building used the complex for training before renovation Renovation converted the building to mixed-income apartments, retail, and event space Historic Tax Credit Project with $22,000,000 investment Service access and access to the parking garage all occur off of Jackson Street

Thornton s expansion of the Mercantile Bank Exterior features travertine panels and gold mosaic tiles and artwork on the front by Octavio Medellin Renovation converted the building to apartments Historic Tax Credit Project with $37,200,000 investment Service access and access to the parking garage all occur off of Jackson Street
Historic Resources Along Proposed D2 Alignment SoCo Lofts (Santa Fe # 2) 1112 Jackson Street NRHP, City of Dallas Landmark Part of the Santa Fe terminal complex Complex built 1923-25 with underground railroad tunnels for freight transfer and warehousing Whitson & Dale, a Dallas architectural firm, designed the Spanish Renaissance buildings Exterior features the original steel windows which were restored Building converted to lofts Historic Tax Credit project Building would be extremely close to the new line and tunnel for that line could impact parking garage area for the building Noise and vibration from trains are also a concern

Haggar Clothing Company opened in the building in 1926 Exterior features the original steel windows which were restored Building converted to a hotel Historic Tax Credit Project with $30,000,000 investment Building would be extremely close to the new line and tunnel for that line could impact basement area for the building Noise and vibration from trains are also a concern
