Product Description The Houston valance is one of our most interesting custom window treatments. It features two flat swags. But unlike being separated by a trumpet or pleat which is usually done in curtains like these, the two swags simply have a gap in between that shows the accent fabric. The top layer of the valance is lined with our premium white lining and the bottom layer is self-lined. Large prints are centered onto each swag. Interlining and trims are optional. This product is custom made to order in our Priority Windows USA workroom. 3

Step-by-Step Ordering Guide To order the Houston valance, you must use our design tool. Our design tool lets you choose from over 1,200 fabrics and other customizable options such as sizes, trims, linings and more. To start your design, click here. You will have to go through a series of steps to design your product. If you are ready to purchase the product, you can click on the Add to Cart button. Step 1 Main Fabric: Here, you get to select the fabric for valance that is used for the two flat sections. Remember that the valance will be lined in our premium white lining, free of charge. 6
Step 2 Accent Fabric: Choose the accent fabric. This is the fabric that will be used for the bottom layer and the mini jabots. The mini jabots will also be lined in this fabric. Step 3 Trim: You may also opt to add trim to your custom valance. This selection is optional; if you do not wish to add trim, you can simply skip this step without making any choices. Step 4 Width: The valance can be made in the following widths only: 38 to 56 inches Measure the outside of your window, including any wooden frame. If the valance is meant to be installed alone, without any draperies, then adding 3 to 5 inches to the measured width will be sufficient. If you plan 7
on installing draperies underneath and space permits, keep in mind that adding 10 to 20 inches will make the window appear larger. SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR BAY, BOW AND CORNER WINDOWS: This valance has a lot of weight and thus requires a lot of space. Do not select unless there are at least 12 to 18 inches between the individual windows, depending on projection chosen. Otherwise, follow instructions above. SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR ARCHED AND PALLADIUM WINDOWS: Valance is installed at the base of the arch. However, since it is board-mounted, it will only work if the window does NOT have a wooden frame. Otherwise, follow measuring instructions above. Step 5 Projection: The projection is the width of the wooden board on which we build the valance. Generally, the 3 ½- inch projection is selected if the valance 8
is installed alone and the 5 ½ -inch projection is required to be able to clear any draperies that are to be installed underneath. Step 6 Lining: The valance is lined in premium white lining. In addition, you may also select felt thermal interlining to go between the two layers of fabric, which will give the valance a better shape and make it fuller and heavier. 9
Measuring and Installation Recommendation Measuring Instructions: This valance can be made 38 to 56 inches wide. See above for instructions. Installation Instructions: This valance is installed on a fabric-lined wooden board. It is delivered with appropriate angle brackets. Customer will need screws and anchors to install. 10
Frequently Asked Questions Do I need to assemble the valance upon delivery? No, the valance is already stapled onto the board. How heavy is this valance? Depending on the fabrics and sizes chosen, it will be anywhere from 8 to 12 pounds. Do I need any hardware? The beauty of board-mounted valances is that there is no need to buy any drapery poles or hardware. All you need are screws and anchors. Can I put this valance over draperies? Yes, you can, but you must select the 5 ½ -inch projection. 11
Can you make this valance wider? Unfortunately, we cannot due to the shipping restrictions that a wooden board creates. Remember that we have valances up to 196 inches available, but they will not be board-mounted. What kinds of trims do you suggest? I'm afraid that I will pick the wrong kind. Each product has already been configured to allow you to choose only trims that will work with it. Short trims are not offered on valances with deep, voluminous folds and similarly, big and bulky trims aren't an option when it comes to scalloped products with sharp edges and curves that need to be sewn with utmost attention to detail. Feel free to choose any trim that the product allows in its selection. And remember, colors don't have to match exactly, but they need to go together. 12
Why is the fabric that I like not available from the selection? Likely, it is inappropriate and would jeopardize the shape and look of the valance. You will not find such fabrics available as an option. 13
