MD ANDERSON CANCER CENTER AT COOPER ROOFTOP GARDEN Camden NJ Cooper University Hospital Landscape Architecture Langan provided comprehensive planning design and construction phase services for a 5 000-SF rooftop healing garden that will serve as a respite from the clinics and testing facilities. Custom designed planting beds will minimize rooftop loading while providing a healthy growing environment for the plants. A thoughtfully designed drainage system will conduct water to roof drains below the paving and planting areas. The project includes a significant amount of sustainable design elements and features the use and interpretation of plants that have been used in the fight against cancer.
DMAVA PARK AND HUDSON RIVER WALKWAY Jersey City NJ New Jersey Department of Property Management and Construction Landscape Architecture Environmental Natural Resources & Permitting Geotechnical Langan designed this project for the NJDEP including 1 600 linear feet of new Hudson River Waterfront Walkway a new bulkhead and waterfront esplanade a new timber boardwalk and a 3-acre park along the Morris Canal Basin across from Liberty State Park.
RUTGERS UNIVERSITY - LIVINGSTON CAMPUS MALL Piscataway NJ Rutgers University Landscape Architecture Surveying/Geospatial Site/Civil The Livingston Campus Mall project redesigned a 1.5-acre promenade through the center of this Rutgers campus. The mall serves as the primary pedestrian connection for residence classroom library and dining facilities. The west end of the mall was integrated with the new Livingston Campus Student Center. To develop a unified design Langan worked with key campus staff to conceptualize a design theme of small plazas connected by the cohesive paving patterns of proposed walkways. FAIR LAWN PROMENADE Fair Lawn NJ Garden Commercial Properties Architect: Appel Design Group Landscape Architecture Site/Civil A brownfield site once owned by Kodak on Route 208 was in need of environmental cleanup and redevelopment. Langan provided landscape architecture services for the mixed-use development designed on 10 acres of unusable land. The main entrance to the site from Route 208 is designed as a gateway featuring low decorative knee walls adorned with decorative lighting and accent plantings. The promenade and centerpiece of the site boasts a 30-foot-wide by 256-foot-long area providing two small patio spaces and a permeable paver pathway in a park-like setting complete with decorative benches and lighting that winds through a cleverly designed landscape.
MEMORIAL SLOAN-KETTERING CANCER CENTER Bernards Township NJ Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center Partner: Barr & Barr Site/Civil Geotechnical Landscape Architecture Environmental Earthquake/Seismic Traditional Surveying Langan is providing its full services to this premier cancer center treatment facility in New Jersey. As part of the design team a green philosophy driven by patient experience site aesthetics and adjacent woodland views greatly influenced planning and development.
HARBORSIDE FINANCIAL CENTER Jersey City NJ Mack-Cali Realty Geotechnical Site/Civil Landscape Architecture The Harborside Financial Center includes 6.4-million SF of office retail and structured parking facilities located along the Hudson River waterfront. Langan has been responsible for the geotechnical site/civil and landscape design of approximately 4 million-sf of Harborside. Langan also designed nearly one-half mile of waterfront walkway on an existing pier as well as 700 feet of a new two-level promenade.
VOORHEES TOWN CENTER Voorhees Township NJ PREIT Services LLC Architect: Barton Partners Landscape Architecture Site/Civil Geotechnical Traffic & Transportation Voorhees Town Center is mixed-use center of community activity consisting of 850 000± SF of retail space with 575 000± SF of residential living space. Langan provided geotechnical traffic and site/civil engineering landscape architecture and construction coordination services. The project included amenities such as a large pedestrian plaza outside of the new mall entrance a landscaped boulevard extending from the mall to Echelon Road and the adjoining residential communities broad sidewalks that allow for outdoor seating and strolling open spaces for passive recreation and the preservation of an old-growth wooded hill.
MARYREST CEMETERY Mahwah NJ Catholic Cemetery Landscape Architecture Surveying/Geospatial Site/Civil Geotechnical Natural Resources & Permitting Traffic & Transportation The cemetery is located on approximately 57 acres in the Planned Highland Region of New Jersey. Langan sited a new 3 200-crypt mausoleum and roadway among existing trees wetlands and streams. Langan was also instrumental in obtaining approvals for the new roadways and infrastructure the new boulevard entrance to the site and wetland permitting. Additionally Langan worked with the township professionals on tree removal and replacement requirements for the newly proposed ground burial areas.
