Castle the Haere, built in 559, is where our partner, the IJssellandschap foundation is housed. On this beautiful estate one can find a beautiful garden, but also the bunkers of the IJssel line of defence, which makes this a very interesting location. During this project the volunteers will carry out maintenance activities on the grounds of country estates around the Haere. They will help the IJssellandschap foundation with work like clearing the walking paths, painting the buildings and working in the garden of the estates, so that the beauty and the grandeur of these special properties will be preserved. The volunteers will stay at a local scouting building. They have to bring their own mattresses and sleeping bags. The group will cook for themselves in the accommodation provided and can make use of the sanitary facilities in the scouting building. recreational program. For example they can explore the beautiful country estates in the area by bike, go swimming, visit a museum or other places in the Netherlands, such as Deventer, a city nearby. The camp leaders will have some ideas, but of course it is possible for the volunteers to put forward their own ideas for this program! Leisure time will also be spent on the theme: Free to ExPress! This disaster took the lives of 836 people and forever changed the landscape of the province of Zeeland. The Watersnood (Flood) museum in Ouwerkerk, located in the four caissons that closed off the last breach in the dykes of the south-westerly part of the Netherlands and the campsite and restaurant De Vierbannen are the partners of this unique anniversary project. The volunteers will work in the area surrounding the museum, which is a national monument. The creeks, washed out by the sea water, the marshes, the remaining part of the old sea dyke, the new sea dyke and the nature reserve all are the results of the Flood. Here, a playground challenge parcours will be constructed, accessible also for physical disabled children. The participants will play an important role in the final phase of the construction, using wood and natural materials for the parcours. They will build a treehouse and the fence of the playground. Together with forest rangers participants will also work on different activities in the maintenance of the surroundings such as cutting bushes and maintaining the paths and look-outs. Volunteers will be camping on the campsite next to the museum. They should bring their own mattresses and sleeping bags. The group will take care of their own breakfast and lunch during the project, dinner will be taken care of by the partner. recreational program. Waterlines are a series of water based defences conceived by Maurice of Nassau in the early 7th century. Combined with natural bodies of water, they could be used to transform the economic heartland of the Dutch Republic almost into an island. The West Brabant Waterline was constructed in 628 in the far West of Brabant, to protect the province of Zeeland from attacks by Spanish troops. Now, nine parties including the municipality of Bergen op Zoom, the Province of Noord-Brabant, the Foundation of Friends of the West Brabant Waterline and the State forestry have joined forces to renovate the West- Brabant Waterline. The participants will play an important role in the renovation of the Waterline. They will improve the recreational value of the area by contributing to the building of a wooden look-out tower. Also, the water will be cleared from vegetation using little boats and by walking the banks. Furthermore the area around the fortresses must be pruned down, and paths must be maintained. In-house sleeping places will be provided. Volunteers should bring their own sleeping bags and mattresses. The volunteers will cook for themselves, cooking facilities are available at the accommodation. recreational program. The nature in this area is typical for its heathlands, upon which some forests grow. Despite of the sandy grounds, little ponds, pits of loam and an underground watersupply are characteristics of this beautiful park. The reserve is also rich of history: barrows and traces of settlements and trade routes can be found here. The Gooi Nature Reserve Foundation aims to conserve these special features and share them with the inhabitants of the region. During this project the volunteers will do different types of work. They will remove bird-cherry by sawing and digging up, and remove pivots of grass. Additionally, volunteers will work on the maintenance of a playground field in the forest. Finally, volunteers will undertake maintenance activities of the building of the accommodation such as painting and cleaning the roof gutter. The volunteers will stay at a local group accommodation. They have to bring their own sleeping bags. The group will cook for themselves in the accommodation and can make use of the sanitary facilities in the building. recreational program.
