Tour Purpose The tour will provide the Planning Commission an opportunity to meet with key stakeholders in West Berkeley to better understand the issues surrounding development review and potential objectives for increased flexibility in the zoning ordinance. The tour will include large and small sites as well as property owners and members of the business and arts and crafts communities. The commissioners will be able to learn directly from key stakeholders. Logistics RSVP: is required from participants by telephone or email by February 20, 2008 in order to reserve a place on the buses and provide refreshments. Parking: is available in the surface parking lot that can be reached from 717 Potter Street. Drive through the gates past the laboratory building at 717 Potter Street. Drive past the lobby and park in the large open parking area north of 717 Potter Ave. Walk to the lobby at 717 Potter Street where the tour will commence. See Tour ap, attachment B. Buses: will provide transportation from the rendezvous location at Stop #1 to the end of the tour. The buses will then bring participants back to the parking lot where the tour began. Bus loading shall respect the following priority. 1. Planning Commissioners 2. Elected Officials 3. Press 4. Other City Commissioners 5. Staff 6. Space will be made available for the general public on a first come, first serve basis. Refreshments: refreshments will be provided at the start of the tour. A light lunch will also be provided at the conclusion of the tour for those who have reserved. Commission eeting Format Special eeting: The tour will be a special meeting of the Planning Commission. Brown Act: The Commission s meeting will be subject to the Brown Act. Workshop format: The tour will be conducted in a workshop format with opportunities for scheduled presenters to provide first hand information at each of the stops on the tour. r. Jim Samuels, Planning Commission chair, will conduct Q&A for the planning commissioners, as time allows.
