Your new Aseptico ADU-12 Task Force delivery system is one of the finest portable pneumatic units available to the dental profession. The self-contained ADU-12 is designed for portable field use. The system features a three-way air/water syringe, highspeed and lowspeed handpiece controls, and saliva ejector vacuum. A pressurized water tank supplies water for handpiece coolant and syringe. The Task Force is powered by a switchable dual-voltage oilless air compressor. Congratulations This system is engineered to provide many years of reliable service. Please read the instructions provided in this manual to receive the best and longest service from your Aseptico equipment. Separate manuals may be provided to cover the operation and maintenance of handpieces or other accessories for your unit. SETTING UP THE UNIT: 1. Place the ADU-12 Task Force in an upright position (the carrying handle at the top) on a flat, stable surface. 2. Unlatch and open the case. Install AA-12CSB Bracket to hold up case lid. (Figure 1) 3. Assure that the voltage bus is configured properly by checking the voltage indicator on the front of voltage selector module (Figure 2). The 120V bus must be installed for 110V-120V 60Hz voltages and the 240V bus for 220V-250V 50Hz voltages. WARNING: Turn the power off and unplug the unit before following the steps below. Fig. 1 Fig. 2 NOTE: Install AA-12CSB Bracket to prevent hoses from coming out of holders ALIGN THEN SLIDE CAUTION: DISCONNECT POWER TO THE SYS- TEM BEFORE OPENING VOLTAGE SELECTOR MODULE --To switch the voltage bus configuration, disconnect power cord and insert a small flat screwdriver under the locking tab in the front of module. Gently pry tab upward until the fuse housing releases (Figure 3, page 3). Carefully remove fuse housing to reveal voltage selector insert (Figure 4). Pull insert out of housing, turn it around and reinsert into housing with proper voltage indicator facing out (See Figure 5, page 3). Voltage Selector Module 120V Indicator 240V Indicator 2

SETTING UP THE UNIT..Cont d Fig. 3 Fig. 4 Important: For 110V-120V use, check that the fuse in use is a 10 amp Slo-Blo; for 220V-250V use, check that the fuse in use is a 6.3 amp Slo- Blo - User may have to change fuse before use. For alternative voltages (220V-250V), confirm that the type of plug cap is correct for the country of usage and carries the proper certification markings. FUSES LOCATED IN VOLTAGE SELECTOR MOD- ULE Fig. 5 Fig. 6 Carefully reinstall fuses into fuse housing and slide housing back into selector module (Figure 6). Apply pressure until locking tab snaps back into position, producing a distinct clicking sound. SETTING UP THE UNIT..Cont d 4. Check to make sure the syringe, highspeed and lowspeed handpieces are hanging in their proper holder. 5. Place the foot switch on the floor. 6. Remove the lid from the white plastic water supply tank and fill with clean water. Reinstall the lid and place water supply tank into retainer strap inside Task Force case. 7. Attach the saliva ejector hose onto the top of the waste container by pushing in and rotating 1/4 turn (Figure 7). Hang the saliva ejector hose in the holder on the holder bar. TO INSTALL WASTE CONTAINER LINE, TURN CONNECTOR 1/4 TURN CLOCKWISE VACUUM LINE WITH QUICK DISCONNECT THREE-WAY AIR/WATER SYRINGE The ADU-12 Task Force features a TA-90D threeway air/water syringe with quick change autoclavable tips. To remove a tip, press on the locking collar surrounding the tip socket and pull the used tip straight out of the socket (see Fig. 8). To insert a new tip, press locking collar and push tip into socket as far as it will go. Release collar and gently tug on tip before using to ensure that tip is securely locked into socket. Syringe Tip Sterilization: 1) Remove contaminated syringe tip. 2) Remove all visible signs of contamination before autoclaving. 3) Autoclave tip at 132 C (270 F) for ten minutes. 4) Sterilize between each patient use. NOTE: Since only the tips can be autoclaved, it is recommended that the Air/Water Syringe be bagged with a disposable, single-use plastic sleeve between each patient use. FIG. 8 DEPRESS LOCKING COLLAR Fig. 7 OPERATION: ELECTRIC FOOT SWITCH All Task Force system components are activated by the AE-7P on/off foot switch. The foot switch controls the operation of the handpieces, activates the saliva ejector and 3-way air-water syringe. Remove the foot switch from its storage compartment in the case and position it on the floor. For handpiece water and vacuum operation, and to enable operation of the buttons on the 3-way air/water syringe, you must depress the foot switch. COMPRESSED AIR SUPPLY The ADU-12 unit contains a 1/2 HP compressor/vacuum pump to control all functions. The compressed air supply is available only when the foot switch is depressed. NOTE Avoid damage to the syringe by removing the tip when closing the ADU-12 case for transportation. 4

OPERATION - Cont d WATER COOLANT FLOW CONTROL WATER COOLANT TOGGLE SWITCH HANDPIECE CONTROL TOGGLE SWITCH HANDPIECE CONTROLS The Aseptico ADU-12 includes a manual handpiece control system. System includes one highspeed control with water coolant and one lowspeed control mounted to a holder bar. The handpiece control toggle switch enables the user to select highspeed or lowspeed operation. WATER COOLANT ON/OFF TOGGLE SWITCH Turns water coolant spray to highspeed handpiece on and off. WATER COOLANT FLOW CONTROL Adjusts the flow of water coolant to the highspeed handpiece control from off to full spray. WATER SUPPLY TANK The Aseptico ADU-12 incorporates a self contained pressurized water system. This consists of a 34oz. white plastic tank dispensing water through the 3-way syringe and highspeed handpiece control. The water tank screws into the manifold lid. Before removing the tank for refilling, it must be depressurized. Turn off the water toggle switch, allowing pressure to release. To fill the tank, release pressure, then unscrew tank from lid and fill with water. Screw tank back to lid. Sterilization of tank is recommended between uses. CAUTION Water Supply Tank is pressurized during operation. Depressurize water bottle by turning off water coolant toggle switch before removing. SALIVA EJECTOR VACUUM SYSTEM The Saliva Ejector is powered by the compressor/vacuum pump and is a self contained oral evacuation system. It is supplied with a plastic waste container and a single detachable low velocity hose. To operate, attach the saliva ejector hose to the top of the waste container, remove the saliva ejector valve from holder, and insert a standard saliva ejector tip. To activate the saliva ejector, depress the foot switch. Waste from the vacuum system will collect in the attached plastic bottle. When the waste container is over 1/2 full it must be emptied to prevent a back-up in the system. After each use, the vacuum system should be cleaned by running clean water or vacuum system cleanser through the evacuator hose and thoroughly cleaning the waste bottle. Also, remove rubber tip and periodically clean or replace the plastic screen. NOTE: The waste container has a ball float shut-off to prevent accidental overflow. If the waste container becomes full and the ball float activates, the vacuum motor may not restart and could potentially blow the fuse. Immediately empty waste container to continue operation. 5

MAINTENANCE: Because of its simple design, the Aseptico ADU-12 Task Force requires very little maintenance. Any maintenance that is needed can be performed in minutes. BLEEDING THE SYSTEM If the unit will not be used for an extended period of time, or the unit might be subjected to freezing conditions, you should bleed the system. Simply empty the contents of the water supply tank and install the lid back onto the tank. Operate the air/water syringe and highspeed handpiece with water coolant 'on' until just air comes through the water lines. Pack unit and store as normal. HANDPIECE FLUSH Flush the handpieces for about 5 seconds after every patient, and about 20 seconds at the beginning of each day. GENERAL CLEANING The external surfaces of the case should be cleaned using a mild solution of liquid detergent and water. Any external surfaces of the unit that are contacted during use should carefully be wiped down with a disinfectant at the beginning of each day and between each patient. As described in the vacuum section, the saliva ejector vacuum system should always be thoroughly cleaned after use. WATER LINES Disinfect the water lines weekly. Prepare a 1:10 bleach solution (1 part household bleach to 9 parts water). Remove water reservoir and discard residual water. Replace empty water reservoir and air purge all waterlines. Fill water reservoir with bleach solution. Run bleach through all lines. Allow bleach solution to stand in lines for 10 minutes. Remove water reservoir and discard bleach. Flush all lines thoroughly with clean water. Air purge and leave lines dry until next clinical use. TROUBLESHOOTING: Problem: Unit will not start Unit starts but blows fuse No water pressure Insufficient vacuum: Insufficient handpiece operation: Correction: Check console to power connection. Depress foot switch for operation. Check that voltage selector module is set for source voltage. Check fuse. If blown, replace with 10A/250V slo-blo fuse for 115V/120V operation, or a 6.3A/250V slo-blo fuse for 220V/230V operation. Check that voltage module is set for source voltage. Check vacuum waste container. If full, immediately empty to continue operation. Check vacuum hose assembly for blockage. NEVER install a vacuum valve with a shut-off control. Depressurize water supply tank by turning off water coolant. Check that fuse is proper amperage for source voltage. Check that handpiece tubing is untangled and not crimped. Check water supply tank for water level and that lid is tight. Turn tank pressure toggle switch ON. Depress foot switch for 5+ sec. to pressurize supply tank. Turn water coolant flow knob counterclockwise to open. Check vacuum waste container. If full, immediately empty to continue operation. Check vacuum hose assembly for blockage. NEVER install a vacuum valve with a shut-off control. Check that lid is properly seated and tight. Check that handpiece SELECT toggle is set to desired handpiece. Check that handpiece tubing is untangled and not crimped. Check handpiece connection for missing gasket. 6

Some handpieces are warranted for one year under the same conditions. Other handpieces and expendable components, such as air turbines and light bulbs, are covered by shorter warranty periods, or have no warranty. Aseptico's sole obligation under product warranty is (at its sole option and discretion) to repair or replace any defective component or product in part or whole. Aseptico shall be the sole arbiter of such action. In the event of alleged defect under warranty, the purchaser is to notify Aseptico's Customer Service Department promptly. Customer Service will provide instructions, usually directing that the product be returned for service. Shipment to Aseptico and the cost thereof is always the responsibility of the purchaser. Accidental misuse, inappropriate installation, or failure to perform directed maintenance voids the warranty. Aseptico does not assume, under this warranty, any risks or liabilities arising from the clinical use of its products, whether or not such use involves coincidental utilization of products manufactured by others. NOTE: In the interest of serving our customers more efficiently, customers receiving service on non-warranted repairs are expected to accept charges that are less than $250.00 without further notification.
