Installation Instructions CDC-4 Conventional Card INTRODUCTION The SIEMENS CDC is a card that allows conventional detectors to be used on the FireFinder-XLS system. It provides four Class or Class B conventional detection zones. Each zone can support two-wire photoelectric or ionization compatible smoke detectors, and an unlimited number of normally open circuit closure devices. The module also supports flame and beam detectors. The relay base, remote lamp and audible base may also be used with the CDC-4. The CDC uses one network address on the FireFinder-XLS system. The card has diagnostic LED indicators showing module status and the status of each zone. Z O N E 4 LRM TROUBLE CLSS OPEN The CDC-4 is designed to function in a local degrade mode during failure of the FireFInder-XLS main processor or during the loss of the system communication network. While in the degrade mode, the CDC-4 can report both alarm and trouble conditions and can activate local outputs on other modules within the same enclosure. The CDC-4 initiating device circuit is not intended to handle more than one detector in alarm per circuit. 1 2 3 - - - HNET Do not use shorting devices on circuits with accessories on them. The shorting devices will lower the zone voltage to a point where the accessories will not operate. Figure 1 CDC-4 Conventional Card P/N 3-03-1 Building Tec echnologies

ny or all of the CDC-4 circuits may be programmed to operate with larm Verification. This allows the automatic verification of alarm conditions caused by smoke detectors in order to prevent nuisance alarms. For further information, refer to the FireFinder-XLS Manual, P/N 3-033744. Controls and Indicators The front panel of the CDC-4 contains one reset switch, sixteen LEDs, and one HNET address switch as shown in Figure 1 reset switch is located on the top of the front panel. Pushing the reset switch reinitializes the CDC-4 operation (similar to a cold boot). The LEDs follow the reset switch and their functions are defined as follows: POWER (Green) Normally ON. When illuminated, indicates that power for the CDC-4 is applied to the card. CRD FIL (Yellow) Normally OFF. When illuminated, indicates that the card microprocessor has failed. HNET FIL (Yellow) Normally OFF. When illuminated, indicates that the HNET communication with the CDC-4 has terminated and the card goes into degrade mode (applicable only when card resides in the HNET network). GND FULT (Yellow) Normally OFF. When illuminated, indicates that the CDC-4 has detected either a negative or positive ground fault. ZONE 1 LRM (Red) Normally OFF. When illuminated indicates that an alarm condition has been detected in Zone 1. It will stay on continuously until the system is reset. ZONE 1 TROUBLE (Yellow) Normally OFF. When illuminated, indicates that there is a break in the Class wiring in Zone 4. three-position switch at the bottom of the front panel is used to set the HNET network address of the CDC-4. PRE-INSTLLTION The network address switch must be set prior to inserting the card into the CC-5 (refer to Figure 1): Network ddress Switch: Set the three-digit HNET network address for the CDC-4 using the three-position switch located near the bottom of the front panel. (Refer to Figure 1 for the location of the switch.) The address for the CDC-4 must be the same as the address selected for it in the Zeus Programming Tool. To increment each digit of the address, press the button above the desired digit; to decrement each digit, press the - button below the desired digit. The range of allowable addresses is from 001 to 251 (leading zeros must be used). Building Technologies 3 P/N 3-03-1

WIRING Disconnect BTTERY and C prior to working on equipment. ll device field wiring to the CDC-4 is connected to the terminal blocks of the CC-5 card cage slot in which it is installed. To Connect the External Wiring: ZONE 1 ZONE 2 1. Lift the WHITE cover on the CC-5 terminal block. 2. Loosen the screw of the terminal by turning it counterclockwise. 3. Insert the wire into the side of the terminal block 4. Tighten the screw of the terminal block by turning it clockwise. Connect 24V from PSC-12 to terminal 17 and -24V from PSC-12 to terminal 18 of the slot in the CC-5 where the CDC will be installed using 12-18 WG (Refer to Fig.2).
