T3 Architecture Asia : CONTEMPORARY, BIOCLIMATIC & GREEN ARCHITECTURE Multi disciplinary Team specialized in Green Architecture and Sustainable Urban Design Office based in Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) and Marseille (France) Projects in Vietnam, Myanmar and France
T3 Architecture Asia GREEN Philosophy best compromise between architectural quality energy efficiency construction cost. architecture that respects people (elegant, healthy, functional) and environment (local solutions and local consultants to reduce carbon consumption). Architects who encourage, at the same budget, the choice of Quality and Sustainability, rather than focusing on (too) large scale project.
T3 Architecture Asia GREEN PROJECTS Bioclimatic Low Cost housing project, HCMC 2005 Bioclimatic architecture: natural ventilation, overhangs, double ventilated roof. Participation: involvement of future residents to all stages of the Project
T3 Architecture Asia GREEN PROJECTS Eco Resort in Cam Ranh, Vietnam 2012 Reasons to follow up the Green architecture principles to offer high comfort for customers, to save energy (and money), to propose a real green product to answer to the international tourism expectations.

Challenges for implementing energy efficient buildings in Vietnam T3 Architecture Asia has identified 3 major challenges Challenge 1 => Image of Modernity in 2012 What is VIETNAMESE MODERNITY in terms of construction? Office building in Vietnam: what about energy issue?
Challenges for implementing energy efficient buildings in Vietnam T3 Architecture Asia has identified 3 major challenges Challenge 2 => Inability to Plan construction in the medium / long term What is VIETNAMESE GREEN ARCHITECTURE and SUSTAINABLE CITY?
Challenges for implementing energy efficient buildings in Vietnam T3 Architecture Asia has identified 3 major challenges Challenge 3 => Difficulty to identify professionals specialized in energy efficiency in Vietnam How & Where to find EXPERTS to do «green building» in Vietnam? Recommendations to improve the institutional framework towards green housing in Vietnam Recommendation 1 => Awareness and Sensitization Campaign on «Green building» for politicians elected (national & regional level), planners, policy makers, economic players and users
Recommendations to improve the institutional framework towards green housing in Vietnam Recommendation 2 => Advice & Capacity building Issue 1: Rediscover the basic principles of bioclimatic architecture Issue 2: Adopt energy efficient technologies and practices
Recommendations to improve the institutional framework towards green housing in Vietnam Recommendation 3 => Promoting the emulation around energy efficient buildings = New complementary Label? Potential NEW LABEL
Potential Actions to develop through Vietnamese Association of Sustainable Buildings (to be created) 1/ Supporting Innovation from actors of Construction Observatory of 50 (?) Green building in Vietnam Guide of eco efficient materials 2/ Developing Skills And Competencies Providing trainings in the field of sustainable construction Directory of sustainable construction in Vietnam: It identifies a set of indicators of the dynamics of sustainable construction and adaptation of industry players 3/ Create a collaborative online platform To share information, to ask technical advice,
Potential Actions to develop through Vietnamese Association of Sustainable Buildings (to be created) 4/ Create a new Vietnamese Green Building Label The approach in three words: prerequisites, points, commitments The Vietnamese Green Building Label Approach would like to encourage all projects to demonstrate maximum ambition. But not all projects have the same constraints, the same potential, the same technical or financial opportunities. So, Vietnamese Green Building Label (VGBL) approach would offers 4 levels of recognition: Basic VGBL Bronze Silver Gold 3 prerequisite 7 prerequisite 9 prerequisite 9 prerequisite 20 points minimum 40 points minimum 60 points minimum 80. points minimum
CONCLUSION Vietnam has lost a part of its know how in terms of Green Design. It must change! => climate change & energy issue It is urgent to train students and explain to professionals that green architecture does not mean necessarily significant additional costs (bioclimatic principles cost nothing) Authorities should require for investors to build not only for 5 years (indecent return on investment), but for more than 20 years (invest money in sustainability)=> general interest
