Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Epsilon Omega Chapter Chapter Minutes January 10, 2009 A regularly scheduled meeting was held on Saturday, January 10, 2009, at the Ivy Family Support Center- 3515 Dolfield Avenue, Baltimore, MD. The meeting was called to order by Soror Cheryl Frazier, former Basileus Epsilon Omega, at 10:00AM The Inspirational Opening was given by Soror Barbara Robinson followed by the reciting of the pledge. A quorum was established. Yes X There were 104 Sorors present and 2 visiting Sorors. Epistoleus (Correspondence) Soror Francina Spencer standing in for Soror E. Francine Stokes McElveen Correspondence: Seasons Greetings extended to the Sorority: - Senator Catherine Pugh and family - Soror Jacquita Wright-Henderson - Soror Dorothy Buckhana Wilson, Supreme Grammateus, AKA - Upsilon Epsilon Omega, Catonsville, MD - Soror Erma Barron and stating that it was a pleasure for her to conduct our installation services. Anti- Grammateus READING AND DISPOSITION OF MINUTES Report Soror Cheryl Frazier made a motion to accept the minutes Xwith the necessary corrections. Soror Marlene Greer-Chase s name needs to be corrected. Corrections were made for the day and date the Epsilon Omega bus will be leaving for New York. The date should be Aprils 2, 2009. However, upon future review, this correction is not part of the minutes but the Announcements and Tidbits section of the newsletter. REPORT OF OFFICERS

Basileus Soror Cheryl Frazier standing in for Angela C. Gibson Soror Frazier reported the following: Soror Gibson asked her to conduct the Chapter meeting because the Basileus, Anti-Basileus for Operations and Programs, Parliamentary, Grammateus, and Graduate Advisors were attending a mandatory Regional leadership meeting in New Jersey today. A request was made from the floor for two more tellers to assist Soror Agnes Edwards and Vivian Holmes. (Soros Louise Owens and Cecelia King volunteered) Anti-Basileus of Program Soror Audrey Bennett-no report. Anti-Basileus of Operations Soror Joann Barber-no report. Pecunious Grammateus and Anti-Pecunious Grammateus and Tamiouchos Reports given by Sorors Esther C. Bailey and Sylvia J. Burke Epsilon Omega Foundation Soror Shirley W. Johnson on behalf or Soror Evelyn C. McLeod Soror Bailey reported on the receipts for December 2008. The report was accepted for audit. Soror Burke indicated her records were in agreement with Soror Bailey s. She reported on disbursements and ending balances for December 2008. The report was accepted for audit However, Soror Bennett asked what happened to the chapter s other monies? Soror Burke advised to only report on the actual spending funds from the checkbook and not the invested funds. Soror Vauls advised that it is the Tamiouchos duty to report the chapter s worth-the value of the chapter. Soror Burke stated that she misunderstood the instructions, Soror Johnson reported for Soror McLeod because Soror McLeod had lost her voice. Soror Johnson requested the support of Sorors at the Foundation s Annual Meeting, Saturday, 1/19/2009, 9:30 A.M., at the Ivy Family Support Center. In addition tickets are available today for the Jazz Show. See Soror Isabella Branch-Brown. Founders Day Soror Jan Wood Carter Soror Jan Carter reported the following: Founders Day 2009 will be held at Martins Catering, Valley Mansion, Hunt Valley, MD., 2/21/2009, 12-4PM, Subscription $75.00. It is an opened Founders Day. The program will include a delicious sit-down served meal, a tribute to our Founders, special presentation to our new Golden Sorors and Silver Stars and a message delivered by WJZ-TV Eyewitness News anchor Vic Carter. Please invite family and friends to celebrate with us. Tickets are available in the lobby today and tickets will be available at next month s Chapter s meeting. Tickets will not be available at the door on 2/21. Sorors put on your pink, green, or pink and green attire and join us Saturday, February 21, 2009, 12 noon, at Valley Mansion. Sunday services will be held at New Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1354 N. Carey Street, Baltimore, MD. Soror Lisa Weah is the pastor. Please wear white and arrive at 11:15 to go in together. The church is preparing a repast for us. Therefore, let a Founders Day member know if you are attending services. The Founders Day committee asked Sorors for a monetary donation for the church. Make checks payable to Epsilon Omega. New Diamond, Golden, and Silver Sorors must give all their information in writing to Soror Heloise Frazier by 1/30/2009.

Nominating Committee Report given by Sorors Isabella Branch- Brown, Chair and Vivian E.Jackson Soror Jackson announced and introduced the candidates running for the following positions:. - Anti-Philacter - Epistoleus - Nominating Committee member - Delegates to NARC 2009 Soror Cheryl Frazier presided of the election. Soror Frazier asked for elections from the floor for each position. There were none. Soror Frazier advised that Epsilon Omega has a voting slate of 12 members to the NARC-six votes are assigned to the officers and the other six are elected by the Chapter members. Individual that are not elected as delegates will serve as alternates. The following were elected: - Epitoleus, Soror Ruby Coleman - Anti-Philacter, Soror Rita Johnson - Nominating Committee Member, Soror Ramona Green - NARC Delegates Soror Esther Bailey Soror Isabella Branch-Brown Soror Jan Carter Soror Crystal Cotton-Faison Soror Frances Parks Soror Geraldine Curry Alternate NARC Delegates: Soror Sylvia Burke Soror Michelle Byers Soror Carmen Maxwell Soror Francine Stokes-McElveen Soror Sheila Tidline Old Business New Business No Report Hodges- Soror Shirley Briscoe Soror Briscoe recognized birthdays in January 2009 with a pink and green or white and green piggy bank with nine pennies in it for 2009.

Anti-Philacter Soror Hamlin reported that there were 104 Epsilon Omega sorors in attendance and two visiting sorors. Soror Emma Hamlin Announcements SUMMARY: Soror Erica Waters reported on the New York bus to the NARC. The bus will leave Thursay, April 2, 2009, 8 A.M. The bus will stop for breakfast. Currently, the bus will return to Baltimore on Sunday, April 5, 2009. 1:00 P.M. However, the Jazz Brunch will not end until 1:15 P.M., therefore Soror Waters is working on having the bus to depart a little later. Seats need to paid for by 2/1/2009. Keep family of Soror Vashti Goldstein in prayer.over 80 sorors attended her Ivy Beyond the Wall ceremony. Her family was very pleased. Soror Catherine Stansbury expressed her delight with how sorors sang with harmony and looked great at Soror Goldstein s Ivy Beyond the Wall ceremony. Soror Stansbury wishes that sorors turned out like that for all Ivy Beyond the Wall ceremonies. Soror Maartha Lancaster funeralized her husban today, 1/10/2009. The Chapter Operations 2/2/2009 meeting is postponed. Soror Bernice A. Hunley requested that her name be included in the Chapter s roster for signing-in. Soror Beverly A. Reid reminded sorors that when reciting the Pledge, the word is strength not strengths. Early registration for NARC ends February 1, 2009. To avoid the additional processing fee for registration send your registration fee and registration form to Soror Sylvia Burke no later than 1/26/2009. All sorors must be financial (must meet Chapter and Foundation obligation) for 2009 to attend the NARC. Soror Gloria Smith has several boxes of Centennial Boule books if you want a copy. Cluster III collecting eyeglasses and cell phones. Please bring your donations to the next Chapter meeting. 50/50 Raffle was administered by Soror Deidre Cherry. The winner of $31.00 was Soror Gene Owens. The Sisterly Yours group for February is X (10) The meeting was adjourned at 1:15 p.m. The next Chapter meeting will be held on February 14, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at the Ivy Family Support Center.
