DC Swearingen attended the Zone 3 Highway Safety Committee meeting on Thursday, August 9 th at South King Fire & Rescue Station 26. VRFA Board of Governance and Staff participated in the Days Parade and Celebration on Saturday, August 10 th and Sunday, August 11 th. This Week: Command Staff will hold their monthly meeting on Tuesday, August 14 th Headquarters Station 31. Senior Staff will hold their weekly meeting on Tuesday, August 14 th Headquarters Station 31. at at The VRFA Civil Service Commission will conduct their monthly meeting on Tuesday, August 14 th at City Hall. DC Gerber will attend the South King Fire Investigation Task Force meeting on Thursday, August 16 th at Kent RFA Station 73. Staff will continue the development of the various Civil Service testing processes during the week.
911 Requests for Services / Customer Service: Aid Call: (Lakeland Hills) On Monday, August 6 th at 5:21 p.m., firefighters responded to the 1100 block of 59 th St. SE to see an adult female with chest pain. The patient was evaluated by firefighters and King County Medics. The patient was then transported to Valley Medical Center by private ambulance. AFA: (Lea Hill) On Tuesday, August 7 th at 10:20 a.m., firefighters responded to an automatic fire alarm at the Seasons Building C. On arrival firefighters observed the remnants of burnt food on the stove in a 3 rd floor unit. The alarm was reset and the building turned over to on-site maintenance. Service Call: (Pacific) On Wednesday, August 8 th at 2:21 p.m., firefighters responded to a medical alert in a residence. Upon arrival, crews were informed that she was simply testing the device to assure that it was working properly. No further action was taken. Illegal Burn Complaint: () On Thursday, August 9 th at 11:11 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to an illegal burn complaint in the 300 block of K ST SE. Firefighters arrived to find a friend of the homeowner burning yard debris in the back yard. The person was advised of the ongoing burn ban and he agreed to extinguish the fire. Aid Call: (Lea Hill) On Friday, August 10 th at 7:53 p.m., firefighters assisted an elderly male who fell out of his wheelchair. Firefighters treated the patient for minor injuries and had him transported to a local hospital for further care. Aid Call: (North ) On Saturday, August 11 th at 6:26 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to an ill male with decreased level of consciousness. Firefighters requested King County Medics. Firefighters and Medics treated the patient and then transported him to Regional Medical Center (ARMC). Aid Call: (Pacific) On Sunday, August 12 th at 2:44 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a child having febrile seizures. The patient was examined and cooling measures were provided. Taqueria Los Potrillos Food Truck, TMP12-0017, 810 Harvey Rd NE, Staff completed zero (0) Land-Use reviews: Staff attended zero (0) Pre-Application meetings: Zero (0), zero (0) Pacific and zero (0) Algona. Staff completed seven (7) business license reviews. Staff completed thirty (30) annual inspections, thirty (30) in, zero (0) in Pacific and zero (0) in Algona. FMO staff continued analyzing proposed 2012 code and continued study of 2012 Significant Changes to the Fire Code. FMO staff continue analyzing and preparing for the 2013 Budget. Fire Marshal Stottlemyre met with City of staff and King County staff regarding the Reddington Levee project. Public Education Fire crews and Sparky the Fire Dog visited 13 National Night Out Events in the cities of and Pacific. The Antique Fire Engine, Sparky and Ladder 31 participated in the Days Parade. PIEO Staff assisted with the monthly car seat check held at Regional Medical Center. The check is sponsored by Safe Kids of South King County. Facebook, Twitter and Website updates were completed for National Night Out and a car vs. bicycle incident. A press release was issued for a cooking fire in where two residents were treated for smoke inhalation. Fire Investigation: During this reporting period the South King Fire Investigation Task Force (SKFITF) responded to three (3) calls for service in the VFRA response area.
A stove top fire spread to the structure causing $20,000 worth of damage. The cause determination is listed as accidental A molotov cocktail was thrown on to playground. Investigators are exploring leads in this case. Several small nuisance fires were reported around a SE apartment building. Appear to have been set by juveniles. Investigators are working with tenants and apartment staff to identify the juveniles involved. Planning and Logistics P&L assisted with the completion of the 2013 budget development. Staff worked with our radio installer to complete engine and aid car radio installs. Staff worked with Spectrum sign to complete placarding of new engines and aid car.
