Your recycling and waste collection service Your household recycling and waste collection service On behalf of Shellharbour City Council, REMONDIS Harbour Cities operates a household recycling and waste collection service for properties in the Shellharbour Local Government Area (LGA). Place this booklet on your fridge as a handy reference guide to your recycling and waste collection services. FOGO Bin 240 Litre (green lid) collected weekly Recycling Bin 240 Litre (yellow lid) collected fortnightly Waste Bin 140 Litre (red lid) collected fortnightly Kitchen Caddy 7 Litre Choose the RIGHT bin, don t just throw it in! Your bin placement guidelines 240L FOGO Bin 240L Recycling Bin *for alternate options refer to shellharbourwaste.com.au Your recycling and waste collection service 140L Waste Bin Place your bins on the kerbside before 6am (on your collection day) Make sure your bins are at least 50cm apart Do not overfill your bins. The lid must close properly Ensure your bins do not weigh more than 80kgs each Place your bins on the kerbside with the opening facing the road Ensure there are no cars, trees or overhead wires blocking access to your bins Bins are Council owned and it is illegal to remove bins from a property Remove your bins from the kerbside on the day of collection, once they have been serviced

Your recycling bin Your yellow lid bin is for household recycling only. This bin is collected fortnightly, on the alternative week to the red lid bin. Bins must be 50cm apart The vehicle lifting capacity is a maximum of 80kg. Any bin exceeding that limit cannot be emptied. Residents who have excessive recycling material should consider an additional recycling bin (fees & charges apply). Refer to your collection calendar for additional recycling collection dates over the Christmas and New Year period. Excess recyclables can be taken to Dunmore Recycling & Waste Disposal Depot for FREE. Please note: Scrap metal can be taken to Dunmore Recycling & Waste Disposal Dept for FREE. It is not accepted in your household recycling bin. 240L

Bins must be placed out before 6am on your collection day and removed from the kerbside on the day they are serviced What you CAN place in your recycling bin Paper & cardboard Steel cans & aerosol cans Glass bottles & jars Aluminium cans, trays & clean foil Rigid plastic containers, including lids Milk, juice & long life cartons What you MUST NOT place in your recycling bin. Plastic bags, wrap & food scraps Polystyrene foam (Can be recycled for FREE at Dunmore) Clothing, linen & shoes Paints & oils (Can be recycled for FREE at Dunmore) Crockery, pyrex & drinking glasses Disposable nappies, syringes & medical waste Your recyclables will be sent on to various recyclers to be made back into paper, new containers and various other new products. Your recycling collection service Tissues, papertowel (Put these in your FOGO bin) These will contaminate the recycling process. If you place the wrong items into your recycling bin it may not be collected.

Your FOGO collection service Choose the RIGHT bin, don t just throw it in! FEED YOUR FOGO Your Food Organics Garden Organics (FOGO) bin Your green lid bin is for food and garden organics only. This bin is collected weekly. All food scraps, leftovers, takeaway and out of date food go in the green lid bin together with newspaper, pantry sized cardboard items, paper towel and tissues. Layer these with your regular garden material, or wrap in newspaper. Plastic bags of any kind are NOT accepted in your FOGO Bin. Bins must be 50cm apart Is your bin missing a wheel, lid broken or body split? If you place the wrong items in your FOGO bin, it may not be collected. Your food and garden organics will be reprocessed into soil conditioner. Ensure the lid on your FOGO bin remains completely closed.

Your red lid bin is for waste only, things that cannot be diverted, recycled or avoided. This bin is collected fortnightly on the alternative week to the yellow lid bin. Bins must be 50cm apart Is your bin missing a wheel, lid broken or body split? 1m Your bulk kerbside collection Your bulk kerbside collection 2m 3 (2m x 1m x 1m) Did you know Shellharbour City Council offers an on-call Bulk Kerbside Collection? You can arrange to have 2m 3 (or 200kg) of unwanted household items collected from your property (fees apply). Collections generally occur on the Wednesday of each week (Public Holidays excluded) at the discretion of the REMONDIS Harbour Cities Team. Additional tip fees apply for tyres and each mattress and ensemble base. Your fee is utilised to cover the cost of transporting these items for recovery where they will be recycled and saved from landfill. 2m 1m Important Information about your bulk kerbside collection To book your bulk kerbside collection online visit shellharbourwaste.com.au or contact the REMONDIS Harbour Cities Team on 1300 121 344 Book and pay for your bulk kerbside collection before placing your items out for collection. Payment must be received by 2pm on the Monday before your booking, or it will be cancelled. Up to 2m 3 (2m x 1m x 1m ) or 200kg per collection is permitted Garden refuse must be bagged or bundled and be placed neatly in a separate pile Place items for bulk collection on the kerbside no more than 24 hours before your scheduled collection day

Alternatively, recycle for FREE at Dunmore Recycling and Waste Disposal Depot. No item greater than 2m in length No item too heavy for two (2) people to easily lift IMPORTANT: These items will NOT be collected if presented. It is the responsibility of the resident to dispose of these items correctly at a licensed waste management facility. Fees and charges may apply. Dunmore Recycling and Waste Disposal Depot Shellharbour City Council provides a facility for recycling, recovery, reuse and disposal of waste. Location: 44 Buckleys Road, Dunmore NSW 2529 Hours of operation 7:30am 4pm Weekdays 8:00am 4pm Weekends & Public Holidays Closed Christmas Day & Good Friday Revolve Centre On entering the Dunmore Recycling and Waste Disposal Depot you will find the Revolve Centre to the right. The Revolve Centre is a modern drop off recovery, recycling and reuse centre. Here you can offer your unwanted saleable second hand items, dependent on condition of material and space availability, prior to reaching the Transfer Station weighbridge. The Revolve Centre aims to maximise the recovery and sale of recyclable materials and saleable goods, thereby reducing the overall amount sent to landfill. By reusing and recycling your waste you are: Saving precious resources from landfill Reducing greenhouse gas emissions Conserving our natural resources Managing consumption Tinkerage Community Space You will find a vast assortment of second hand goods for purchase at reasonable prices, with new and different goods arriving regularly. Transfer Station Shellharbour City Council provides residents an all-weather Transfer Station to safely dispose of numerous household items. Accepted items are listed below in drop off order at the Transfer Station (use this list when packing your car/trailer, to make unloading easier): The following items can be dropped off FREE of charge: Gas cylinders Fire extinguishers Aerosols (including paints) Smoke detectors Household batteries Fluorescent tubes including (compact fluorescent lights) & incandescent bulbs Oil & water based paint Motor oil, sump oil, engine oil, lubricating oil < 25Litres Other oils including cooking oil, brake fluid, auto transmission fluid, hydraulic fluid, power steering fluid < 25Litres Mobile phones Ink cartridges X-Rays (please remove paper reports) E-Waste, televisions, desktop PCs, Laptops, server equipment, keyboards/mouse, hard drives, video players & cassettes. Household photocopiers & fax machines, Hi Fi equipment (excluding large speakers). All household electrical goods that can be plugged into a power point will be accepted. CD/DVDs, network and memory cards, electronic games & consoles, transformers & resistors. Used lead acid batteries (car batteries) Co-mingled recyclables (glass bottles, steel & aluminium cans, rigid plastic containers) Soft plastics, clear soft plastic only (no coloured plastic bags or bubble wrap) Polystyrene Cardboard/paper Metal Whitegoods (fridges, freezers, washers & dryers) Ferrous Metal (iron,cast iron, mild steel, high carbon & stainless steel) Non-ferrous Metal (brass, copper, zinc, tin & aluminium). Drop off your household problem waste for recycling. You can drop off: Only household quantities accepted 20kg or 20L maximum container size. DOMESTIC WASTE SERVICE In the past 11 months*, Shellharbour residents have recycled: 6,075 TONNES OF RECYCLING 9,556 TONNES OF FOGO In the past 11 months, Council has delivered waste education programs to:...and sent: 11,430 TONNES OF WASTE TO LANDFILL children across 46 pre-school 1,199 and early child care centres children across 3,150 17 primary schools students across 854 2 high schools DUNMORE RECYCLING & WASTE DISPOSAL DEPOT community members 1,166 across 26 events Since December 2017, the new Transfer Station has processed: 27,833 CUSTOMERS and accepted 4,331 TONNES OF MATERIAL The following materials have been recovered and sent off-site for recycling or reprocessing from the Transfer Station: 566 tonnes metal 204 tonnes paper and cardboard 14 tonnes co-mingled recycling 72 tonnes Household Problem Wastes collected as part of the Community Recycling Centre 11 tonnes textiles 10 tonnes tyres 42 tonnes secondhand goods 8 tonnes polystyrene 42 tonnes secondhand goods 62 tonnes mattresses In the past 11 months, 18,935 TONNES OF CARBON DIOXIDE equivalent has been abated through the landfill gas capture system at the Dunmore Recycling & Waste Disposal Depot.
