Well-Being Check: Officers were dispatched to Prescott for a well-being check on a student based on concerns from an acquaintance. The student was located and found to be fine 0033 (1110-56-OF). Officers were dispatched to Adele Simmons Hall for a fire alarm accidentally activated by the company installing carpet in the area. The workers stated that they were tearing up the carpet which created dust setting off the alarm. Officers reset the panel and cleared the scene 0830 (1110-57-OF). Officers wer dispatched to Prescott for a reported supervisor s alarm sounding. The cause of the alarm was a lit candle. The candle was extinguished and officers reset the panel 1848 (1110-58-OF). Sunday January 30, 2011 Officers, EMTs and Amherst Fire Department were dispatched to Dakin for a report of an ill student. EMTS administered first aid and the student signed a Refusal of Care form - 0341 (1110-51-OF). Officers and Amherst Fire Department were dispatched to Enfield for a fire alarm. The cause of the alarm was cooking smoke. AFD reset the panel and cleared the scene 1320 (1110-52-OF). A passing student was in the process of changing the tire on the vehicle. Officers cleared the scene 0247 (1110-47-OF).

College Policy Violation: Officers were dispatched to Dakin for a report of cigarette smoke in the hallway. After questioning several students, one individual admitted to smoking in their room several hours previous. The student was reminded of college policy and a Dean s Referral was submitted 1824 (1110-44-OF). Officers and Amherst Fire Department were dispatched to the Farm Center for a fire alarm. The cause of the alarm was water leaking into the smoke detector. A work order was submitted to Physical Plant to repair the damage and replace the detector 2106 (1110-45-OF). Officers and EMTS were dispatched to Prescott for a report of an injured student. EMTS administered first aid and advised the student to visit health services in the morning 2125 (1110-46-OF). Accident: A witness contacted Public Safety to report a hit and run accident on campus. The individual reported a vehicle exiting a space and backing into another vehicle. The exiting vehicle drove away. A Commonwealth of Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Crash Police Report was filed and the owner of the vehicle was notified 1455 (1110-04-AC). Wednesday January 26, 2011 Tuesday January 25, 2011 Officers and Amherst Fire Department were dispatched to Enfield for a fire alarm. The cause of the alarm was cooking smoke. Monday January 24, 2011 Officers and EMTs were dispatched to Dakin for a report of an injured student. EMTs administered first aid. The student signed a Refusal of Care form 2358 (1110-38-OF). Officers and Amherst Fire Department were dispatched to Enfield for a fire alarm. The cause of the alarm could not be determined. A work order was submitted to Physical Plant to repair the problem. AFD reset the panel and cleared the scene 1207 (1110-39-OF). Sunday January 23, 2011 Trespass Notice Issued: Officers were dispatched to Dakin stairwell in the basement for reported sighting of a suspicious person that was reported on campus earlier that evening. After checking with local law enforcement, it was determined the individual would be trespassed from Hampshire campus. The person was escorted off campus 0217 (1110-35-OF). Suspicious Person: Officers were dispatched to the lobby area of Merrill A building for a report of a suspicious person attempting to sell illegal narcotics to students. Officers obtained a full description then searched campus for the individual with no result. At approximately 0217, officers received another call and were able to locate the individual. See report #1110-35-OF 2229 (1110-36-OF). Damage to College Property: Officers were dispatched to the Johnson Library basement for a report of graffiti in the restroom. Photographs were taken and a work order was submitted to Physical Plant to clean the area 2156 (1110-37-OF). Saturday January 22, 2011 Friday January 21, 2011 Medical Emergency - Intoxicated: Officers, EMTs and Amherst Fire Department were dispatched to Enfield for a report of an intoxicated student. AFD EMTs determined the student should be transported to the hospital for treatment. The student was uncooperative and AFD asked Hampshire police officers for their assistance in restraining the student for transportation - 0215 (1110-31-OF). Medical Emergency - Intoxicated: Officers, EMTs and Amherst Fire Department were dispatched to Enfield for a report of an intoxicated student. EMTs determined the student could safety stay with friends for the evening. The student signed a Refusal of Care form 0216 (1110-32-OF).

Wednesday January 19, 2011 Tuesday January 18, 2011 Officers and EMTs were dispatched to Greenwich for a report of an injured student. EMTS advised the student to visit Umass Health Services. The student was transported to health services by a friend and signed a Refusal of Care Form 1329 (1110-26-OF). Accident: While being dispatched to the scene of a reported accident on campus, officers were driving down the access road to Blair Hall when they hit an ice and snow bank. Photographs of the damage were taken and a Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Crash Police Report was filed - 1021 (1110-03-AC). Monday January 17, 2011 Suspicious Person: Officers were dispatched to the Johnson Library for a report of a suspicious person in the 3 rd floor computer lab. Officers approached the individual who immediately agreed to identify themselves as a visitor on campus.

Officers found no reason to ask the individual to leave campus. The person stated that they were leaving campus at this time anyway - 1251 (1110-23-OF). Sunday January 16, 2011 Suspicious Activity: Officers were dispatched to the Art Barn sculpturing area for a report of a suspicious person. The individual in questions was a student. Officers identified the student and cleared the scene 1248 (1110-18-OF). Maintenance Problem: Officers and a Physical Plant employee were dispatched to Merrill for a possible maintenance problem. A work order was submitted to Physical Plant to repair a broken heater 0348 (1110-19-OF). Officers and EMTs were dispatched to Dakin for a report of an ill student. EMTs administered first aid and advised the student to visit Umass health Services. The student signed a Refusal of Care form 0604 (1110-20- OF). Wednesday January 12, 2011 Officers and EMTs were dispatched to Merrill student lounge for a report of an injured student. EMTs administered first aid and the student signed a Refusal of Care form 15:00 (1110-13-OF). Officers and EMTs were dispatched to Prescott for an ill student. EMTs administered first aid and the student signed a Refusal of Care form 15:20 (1110-14-OF). Accident: Officers were dispatched to the facilities parking lot for a report of a vehicle accident. Officers took a report from a Hampshire College employee who reported being in an accident with another vehicle while plowing snow. Photographs were taken and a Commonwealth of Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Crash Police Report was filed 0701 (1110-01-AC). Accident: While on routine patrol, officers observed PTVA bus that had hit a light pole on South Campus Drive. There were no injuries. Officers and Amherst Fire Department were dispatched to Weneczek House at Hampshire College for a fire alarm. The alarm was activated in the basement of the house. Based on the large number of cobwebs located throughout the basement, it was determined the webs may have triggered the smoke alarm. A work order was submitted to Physical Plant to clean the area 15:01 (1110-08-OF). Officers and Amherst Fire Department were dispatched to Weneczek House at Hampshire College for a fire alarm. The alarm was activated in the basement. Based on the fact that this was the second call, a work order was submitted to the Hampshire College electrician to replace the smoke detector. While investigation the cause of the alarm, officers observed candles burning in the sink. The candles were extinguished based on the Hampshire College safety policy 19:52 (1110-07-OF). Thursday January 06, 2011 Injury on Duty: While participating in routine training in Kendall Hall, an officer reported an injury that occurred while demonstrating tactical moves to training participants. The officer drove to the hospital for further treatment 19:00 (1110-04-OF).
