Instructions for Operation and Care of Litte Therm Compact Thermaator Congratuations on receiving your compact Litte Therm Thermaator. Litte Therm is a simpe and troube-free unit to operate. The tank body, bottom and id are a made from type 304 stainess stee with a thermostat on the rear to contro the water temperature. Unit shoud be set for 165 F for norma operating temperature. Side handes and a knob on the id minimize contact with the hot surface. The unit has Therma Packs with coored tabs and an exposed heating eement with a conceaed temperature sensor. Unit rating is 120V, 8.3A, 50/60 Hz. WARNING Ony trained personne to operate the Thermaator. Untrained operators can cause injury or be injured. OPERATOR SKILLS AND TRAINING This Whiteha product has been carefuy packaged at the factory to minimize the possibiity of damage during shipping. Inspect the packaging for externa signs of damage. Inspect the contents for damage. If there is visibe damage to the instrument upon receipt, inform the shipping company and Whiteha immediatey. TRAINING Operator trainees need to: be trained in occupationa therapy protocos. read and understand this manua. INSPECTING THE THERMALATOR! WARNING Do not attempt to operate this equipment if there is evidence of shipping damage or you suspect the unit is damaged. Damaged equipment may present additiona hazards to you. Contact Whiteha technica support for advice before attempting to pug in and operate damaged equipment. Inspection Checkist Is the Thermaator free of excessive wear? Is a propery-grounded and votage-matched receptace avaiabe? Is the outet equipped with a functioning GFI? 1. Unpacking your Thermaator Remove a the shipping materia. Remove Therma Packs and wire rack from inside the tank. Remove a packaging from inside the tank, especiay from under the heating eement inside the tank. Cean the unit thoroughy before using. 3. Device Pacement Pace the Thermaator at a convenient eve, such as on a tabe or a scratch resistant counter top. Before moving the Thermaator, unpug and coo the unit. Ony move the unit to empty or fi it. Aways use the handes. The unit may be hot to the touch. SETTING UP Avoid operating this unit in cose proximity of materias subject to damage from moisture. 4. Pre-Soaking Therma Packs Presoak therma packs (Critica, if not presoaked propery, the tank may deveop surface rust during use). Inspect the packs for any tears and damaged or oose threads before starting the presoak process. If packs are damaged, do not use. Before the first use, you must condition each Therma Pack. 1- Take the Therma Pack by the corner oops - one white and one bue or back - so the sections are horizonta. 2- Genty shake the pack back and forth to eveny distribute the fier materia. DO NOT use the Thermaator for presoaking packs. 4- Fi the container with enough tap water to competey cover the Therma Packs. 5- Soak the packs for two hours minimum, more is recommended. If the presoak water turns coudy, change the presoak water and soak packs again. Repeat unti water is cear. 6- Turn packs to upright position. The packs are now ready to use. Turn the packs to upright as shown The Thermaator is to operate ony in ambient temperatures of 5ºC to 40ºC. Make sure the unit is unpugged and a packaging has been removed. Lid can pinch fingers. 7 Pug the power cord into an AC outet. A Ground Faut Circuit Interrupter is recommended because it wi give additiona protection from eectric shock. Instructions for Operation and Care of Litte Therm Compact Thermaator 3- Periodic use: The water temperature for norma operating conditions is about 165 F (74 C). The thermostat is very sensitive; even a sma adjustment can raise or ower the temperature severa degrees. The thermostat has an adjustabe temperature range of 65 F (18 C) to 175 F (79 C) ±5 F (-15 C). To adjust the temperature, you need a Thermometer capabe of 180 F (83 C). 5 Facing the back of the unit, find the meta temperature stem between the 2 screws in the ower midde of the unit. Attach knob. Using the knob, turn cockwise to increase the temperature. Aow the temperature to stabiize, and measure the water temperature with the thermometer. CAUTION: Sensitive thermostat - a sma adjustment changes severa degrees. Temperature range of 65 F (18 C) to 175 F (79 C) ±5 F (-15 C). 6 TEMPERATURE USING THE WIRE RACK Your Litte Therm uses many different sizes of Therma Packs. For Haf, Cervica or Myofacia sizes, a sma rack adapter is provided. For Standard, Knee/Shouder, 10" x 18" and 10" x 24" sizes, use ony the stainess stee wire rack provided. Instructions for Operation and Care of Litte Therm Compact Thermaator MAINTENANCE The Litte Therm design is neary maintenance-free. It shoud, under most conditions, give many years of reiabe service. Cean and repace the Therma Packs as described beow. 1. Routine Maintenance (As Needed) See Ceaning and Sanitizing Aways keep the Therma Packs under water. Repace any water that has evaporated. 2. Monthy Maintenance Destroy or discard any contaminated Therma Packs. See Ceaning and Sanitizing Cean wire rack and insert using mid soap. Rinse thoroughy with cean tap water. Dry with soft coth. Scrub your Therma Packs with warm soap and water. Keep the ph (a measure of acidity of the water) between 7.4 and 7.8 to reduce the scaing and residue buid-up. 3. Yeary Maintenance Repace worn out Therma Packs. When The packs begin to wear out, the non-toxic fier oozes through the fabric and seams. The individua ces seem empty. These packs don't hod the heat. Throw away worn Therma Packs. Have a professiona eectrician thoroughy check the foowing: 1- Test for eakage current, dieectric strength, and receptace poarity and ground. If you need test need test detais, ca the number isted on the back page. 2- Check the power cord and pug. They shoud be free of cuts, abrasion and other damage. Repace the power cord assemby if it is damaged. Use ony factory repacement parts. 3- Remove the cover and check a eectrica components and connections. Repace any parts that are in questionabe condition. Use ony factory authorized repacement parts. CLEANING AND SANITIZING Ceaning of the tanks can best be accompished with a very mid, non-scratching househod ceaner and a very ow abrasion pastic scouring pad ighty appied. On a stainess stee tank, never use a meta scouring pad as it is too abrasive and may eave carbon meta deposits on the stainess, which wi rust. Again, disinfection and steriizing procedures are different from faciity to faciity, and we have found that acoho is sti the best (but expensive) ceaning and steriizing soution. Beaches and iodine shoud not be used. Use of beach or iodine wi resut in pin hoes in the stainess stee tank which wi eak and void the warranty. STORAGE 1. Storing the Litte Therm See Ceaning and Sanitizing Pace the Litte Therm upright in a dry area away from any chemicas. 2. Storing the Therma Packs Scrub your Therma Packs with warm soap and water. Moist and Cod 1- Put the moist Therma Pack in a pastic bag. 2- Sea the bag. 3- Store the bag in the freezer (recommended) or refrigerator. Dry 1- Air dry the Therma Pack competey in a we ventiated area. The fier wi become hard and caked.
