Great! so where do we start? at the beginning
Every Project Starts with 2 Elements : 1 a NEED What does the County Need? What does the Community Need? What do the Users need? s What else? 2 a SITE Where will the building be constructed? at the beginning
OK, we have a SITE
So what do we NEED?
1 a NEED : A Need is defined by a PROGRAM List of Spaces Size of Spaces Special Considerations s
Visioning! An opportunity to share your thoughts about : the PROJECT the BUILDING the SITE Great! So how do we create a Program?
Visioning! there will be 3 break-out areas choose any of the three areas to start each break-out session will last for 15 minutes at the end of 15 minutes, please rotate to another area The GOAL is to have every community member participate at each of the three break-out areas
Visioning! At each area you will be asked to share your thoughts about one of three questions County Staff and the Design Team will be present to : Listen Facilitate discussion Document thoughts and observations
Visioning! Question to consider : How can the LRCC positively impact the community and Visa Versa? (what does the Design Team need to know about the surrounding neighborhoods and the broader community?) Michelle Congdon Robin Leonard Christine Knopf Tom Wheeler Arlington County Arlington County Arlington County
Visioning! Question to consider : What types of spaces and uses should be accommodated in the BUILDING? Cheryl Johnson Lesley Stuler Yvette Zaragoza Bill Spack Arlington County Arlington County Arlington County
Visioning! Question to consider : What types of spaces and uses should be accommodated on the SITE? Scott McPartlin Arlington County Marcia Kot Arlington County Bernadette Grullon Arlington County Brian Stephenson BJC + Co.
Visioning! There will also be Observation Slips at each area Please share what you believe to be the most important consideration we need to understand regarding the question at each break-out area
Visioning! This is what I think

OK, I have a SITE and I m working on a PROGRAM
NOW WHAT??
You need a CONCEPT s
RIGHT! What s a CONCEPT?!! s
con. cept noun an abstract idea a plan or intention an invention for Architects : initial organization and sketch plans A concept IS NOT a finished design or a detailed plan that comes later
Next Steps : develop the program develop the concept plans review concept plans with the community
Next Steps : What if I have additional comments or questions? http://parks.arlingtonva.us/vision
Thanks!!
