Marin County Parks and Landscape Integrated Pest Management Volunteers & Work Referral Program 2009 Hours 10,717 Hours contributed by 1,394 Community Members 2009 Overview and Highlight Projects with extensive help from a broad spectrum of the community: -Hand removal of common mallow weeds from turf at McInnis -Gift of Love Event (February 14 th ), 327 Volunteers at 7 locations French Broom removal at Stafford Lake Iceplant and Fennel removal above pond at McInnis Park Sheet mulching for weed suppression at the Civic Center Re-Thinking Plastics presentation by Stuart Moody and litter removal at the Mill Valley Multi-Use Pathway Cape Ivy removal at Agate Beach in Bolinas -Girl Scout events to hand remove weeds and nurture native plants at Stafford Lake Park restoration sites -French Broom removal at Tiburon Uplands, Eagle Scout project on March 21 st - 75 hours -Iceplant removal and marsh gum plant planting along the Mill Valley Multi-Use Pathway, Stanford University Alumni on April 25 th, 72 hours -Earth Day event at McInnis Park, education and litter removal with 46 volunteers -Perennial pepper weed removal at McNears Beach Park with Valley Baptist Church, May 23 rd, 26 Volunteers, 105 hours -Year-round hand maintenance and weeding of landscaped areas at the Civic Center -Cape Ivy and perennial pepper weed removal at McNears Beach Park, perennial pepper weed removal at McInnis Park, sheet mulching at the Civic Center by St. Mark s School students, 75 total hours -Russian thistle, iceplant and non-native Australian salt bush removal at the Mill Valley Multi-Use Pathway and Bothin Marsh, numerous workdays -Project Regeneration Volunteers with the Conservation Corps North Bay, Non-native cordgrass removal at Creekside Park, 150 hours in August -French Broom and annual weed removal at Paradise Beach Park, 121 hours and 64 Volunteers in September
