THE EVENT Following the immense success of the inaugural identity design awards in 2015, identity, the region s leading monthly magazine dedicated to contemporary design, interiors, architecture, landscape, and property, is proud to announce plans for the second annual id Design Awards to be held in October 2016. The creation of the first identity Design Awards 2015 was in response to readers, advertisers and designers calling for id (the region s first design magazine) to once again play a pioneering role in organising a programme that will set the standard for design awards, just as we have for magazine publishing. Launched by Motivate in 2002, identity is dedicated to excellence in all forms of design - and regarded and revered as the regional authority on global trends, with a reputation for professional, unbiased and independent editorial content of the highest calibre. These are the attributes that are also applied to the id Awards. A special retail category highlighting the growing interiors sector will be a focal point of the awards programme. Readers and designers alike will be able to vote online for their favourite sources of interior accessories, equipment and brands. With support from our readers, identity will seek to identify and honour the ultimate shopping destination for furniture, furnishings and appliances. The criteria for the design awards will remain true to id s proud DNA and will seek to reward design excellence, originality, sustainability and aesthetics. The entries to be submitted online will be independently evaluated by a jury of the highest calibre, with each member renowned for delivering excellence in the design arena. The judges will seek to identify the best examples of pure, clean, precise and dynamic, contemporary designs for residential, hospitality and public spaces. The 17 awards will honour designs that go beyond the usual and make bold, brave yet functional statements in the following categories: 1 - Residential Interior 2 - Residential Exterior 3 - Hospitality - RECA 4 - Hospitality Interior - Hotels 5 - Public Building 6 - Office Interior - Boutique 7 - Office Interior - Corporate 8 - Retail Interior 9 - Outdoor Space 10 - Design Of The Year 11 - Most Prominent UAE Project 12 - Designed By The World for the GCC 13 - Project Of The Future 14 - Hotel Of The Future 15 - Editor s Choice 16 - Lifetime Achievement 17 - Readers Choice: Design Source of the Year Readers vote online prior to the gala event for their favourite source of design furnishings, fixtures + fittings, and decor accents. CATEGORIES Entrants are invited to submit their designs under two main sections Exterior and Interior which are divided into residential, hospitality, office and public projects. 1 - RESIDENTIAL INTERIOR sold Overall design concept in contemporary living spaces: living rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, studies, dining rooms, home cinemas 2 - RESIDENTIAL EXTERIOR Rewarding the most outstanding home exteriors: villas, palaces, apartment buildings, compounds, housing developments 3 - HOSPITALITY INTERIOR - HOTELS sold Rewarding the most original interior in the hospitality sector: lobbies, rooms, bathrooms, conference areas, spas... 4 - HOSPITALITY - RECA sold Rewarding the most original design in the hospitality sector: indoor/ outdoor restaurants, bars, cafés... 5 - PUBLIC BUILDING Recognising creative design in public spaces, and landmark buildings: airports, stations, schools, libraries, opera houses, malls, embassies... 6 - OFFICE INTERIOR - boutique Rewarding creative design in all types of work spaces: new ways of working, increasing efficiency and productivity, enhancing the work environment (office less than 25 people) 7 - OFFICE INTERIOR - corporate sold Rewarding creative design in all types of work spaces: new ways of working, increasing efficiency and productivity, enhancing the work environment 8 - retail interior Rewarding creative and original design for retail spaces: showrooms, boutiques, departments stores, galleries 9 - Outdoor Space sold Rewarding innovative outdoor spaces, parks, gardens, beaches, fountains, hardscaping... 10 - DESIGN OF THE YEAR Selected from the winners of the nine main categories.

CATEGORIES 11 - Designed by the world for the GCC Non-UAE registered architects and designers with projects in the GCC can submit a completed regional project/s in any category. Project must have been completed in the past year. 12 - MOST prominent uae project sold identity will nominate the mega-project that has had the greatest architectural impact on the UAE design landscape in the past 3 years. 13 - PROJECT OF THE FUTURE sold Buildings under construction, to be finished within the next three years, and that are establishing the UAE as a centre of architecture and design. 14 - hotel OF THE FUTURE Hotels under construction, to be finished within the next three years, and that are establishing the UAE as a centre of architecture and design. 15 - editor s choice identity will honor a project/person that has exceled in the GCC design scene over the past year. 16 - LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT Awarded to the established global architect / figure who contributes most greatly to the region s architectural profile.

From August readers can vote online prior to the gala event for their favourite source/brand of interior design furnishings, fixtures and fittings, and decor accents for: Furniture: Design - residential, outdoor, office... Furniture: Urban Living - mid-range residential, outdoor, office... Fixtures + Fittings - kitchen units, equipment, bathroom, faucets, flooring, lighting... Decor Accents - fabrics, wallpapers, rugs, paint, appliances, accessories... The four highest scoring entries will be invited to the awards ceremony where the winners and two finalists in each category will be announced. Public voting will run from 1 August until 1 October 2016.

These architects, designers and industrialists will independently assess the nominations and respect the magazine s reputation for integrity, impartiality and independence. The prestigious 2016 Jury includes: Marco Piva, Paolo Pininfarina, Terry Dwan and Nani Marquina. The full jury to be announced soon. The judges will select winners in each of the main categories (excluding the Readers Choice Awards).
