Electro-Osmosis Process of ELODE ELODE Phase Electro-Osmosis Dehydration Equipment Methods of Dehydration by ELODE ELODE is based upon a technology allowing a highly efficient dehydration to take place by extracting free water and absorbed water from sludge using electrophoresis and electro-osmosis mechanisms. It is distinguished from conventional dehydration methods which extract just the free water from liquid sludge by applying high pressure and using large amount of coagulation and flocculation polymers. The treated sludge cake from conventional dehydrators is feed through between the anode drum and the cathode caterpillar of ELODE machine. A three phase alternative current is applied to the anode drum and cathode caterpillar to create an electrical potential difference. This leads to strong migration of sludge particles to the anode drum, and water to cathode caterpillar. Thus, high efficient dehydration with a water level below 60wt% is accomplished. 1) Early Electro-Osmosis - Electrophoresis In the initial stages of electro-osmosis process, sludge particles (-) are strongly push to the anode drum (+). 2) Intermediary Electro-Osmosis Dehydration through movement of water (+) to cathode (-) 3) Final Electro-Osmosis - Capillary Pressure Forces the absorbed water flow through porous solid to cathode (-) 4) Cell Membrane Destruction Discharge the absorbed water (bonded moisture) of sludge ACE KOREA INCORPORATION / 4page ACE KOREA INCORPORATION / 5page

- Single ELODE For 2nd Stage Dehydration BELO - Built-In ELODE For New Setup, Single ELODE is a compact second stage dehydrator uses Electro-Osmosis method to further dehydrate the treated sludge cake from conventional dehydrators, to a higher dryness and significant reduction in sludge weight. It can be easily integrated into any of the existing conventional dehydrator such as belt-press, filter press, decanter, gravity dehydration etc. The sludge shall be treated to or below 95wt% by conventional dehydrators before it can be treated by. BELO, a highly efficient dehydrator that combined first stage of mechanical dehydration by Belt-Press and second stage by Electro-Osmosis method. The one and whole process is certainly a cost-effective equipment that brings the sludge cake to much higher dryness. It significantly reduces the final sludge cake dryness to or below 60wt% (at the dehydration ratio of 40%). It also reduces volume of the sludge to or less than 10% of input liquid sludge or at least 50% compared to conventional dehydrator. BELO is a compact and robust machine, suitable for plants run by less skilled personnel, where low noise and ease of operation, flexibility and low maintenance are critical. ELODE, a cost-effective electro-osmosis dehydrator designed to compensate the deficiency of conventional dehydrators and high cost thermal dryers. Conventional dehydrators simply do not dehydrate sludges efficiently by applied of mechanical force. Therefore, further dehydration by ELODE immediately after dehydration of sludge cakes from conventional dehydrators will significantly improve dryness of final sludge cake. Standard drying technique is a typical process to improve the sludge dryness after the conventional dehydrators. Thermal dryer has a very high setup and operating cost in terms of energy consumption. ELODE can effectively improve the dryness with much lower operating cost, approximately 70% to 90% of energy saving.
