Wakefield Doncaster Walking in the Yorkshire Sculpture Park is great for the family and is an international centre for modern and contemporary art and enjoyed by thousands of visitors every year. From Summer 2011, visitors can discover some of YSP s hidden secrets as historic lakes and woodland are opened to the public for the very first time in the Park s long history, including reinstated long-forgotten footpaths and bridges, and restored delightful features including a Greek-style Summer House, a now landlocked Boathouse, Stepping Stones and a magical Shell Grotto, all in this much-loved landscape. The new Underground Gallery, cut discreetly into the hillside of the Bothy Garden, provides extensive indoor exhibition space to complement the outdoor sculpture displays. YSP also run an exciting program of workshops, courses and lectures and can provide guided tours personalised to meet the interests of groups. Admission to YSP is free but there is a parking charge of 5. which supports the YSP facilities Disabled parking is free there are adequate spaces for parking. There is also pay & display parking at the YSP Learning Centre and Bretton Country Park entrance. Café At the YSP Visitors Centre is an excellent Restaurant & coffee bar there is also a café at the YSP Learning Centre.
Yorkshire Sculpture Park Visitors Centre & Restaurant Toilets - Well equipped toilets and disabled toilets at the Restaurant, both Cafes and Bretton Country Park entrance. Path There is a lift in the YSP Centre which takes you down to the outside galleries / formal gardens & terrace and paths are all of a good surface for wheelchairs and generally made up of fine rolled-in crushed stone, with a few slopes and some of the grass areas are quite flat, make your own route viewing the various sculptures see the plan of the galleries. If you go down to the YSP Learning Centre follow the signposted Bothy trail but there are quite a few steep roads and paths - it is suitable for motorised wheelchairs but manual wheelchairs will need a strong pusher.
