4 LOCAL INFORMATION Gosforth is a beautiful village situated in stunning Lake District scenery and offers a good range of local amenities. The village has a wide range of shops which provide everyday provisions together with an arts and crafts, hobby and antiques shops. There is also a library, various eateries and a village hall. Originally an agricultural area, Gosforth still holds an agricultural show in August. For the outdoor enthusiast the surrounding countryside includes sandy beaches and dunes, part of which is an important bird reserve, together with walking along the nearby River Bleng and on to the ancient packhorse bridge known as Monks Bridge, on Cold Fell, and the opportunity to explore the surrounding Lake District. The property is located close to Sellafield, a major employer in the area, and is also within commuting distance of many other busy centres. There is a primary school in Gosforth and West Lakes Academy at Egremont provides secondary and sixth form schooling. St Bees School is nearby which provides private schooling from primary through to sixth form.
