Tram Depot ALMATY TRAM SYSTEM - historical and cultural value for the city and its citizens. 1937 December 1 - the first ride of historical Almaty tram. In 15 days the first tram line transported more than 300 thousand passengers. 1990 Volumes began to decline and on many streets tram lines were gradually dismantled. Only 2 tram lines were operating for the whole city connecting east-west and south-north. 2012 Almaty Tram Cafe - the city s new identity. 2015 After several accidents involving old trams the city administration decided to stop their work. Currently, a new project of Almaty LRT with its own depot is being considered. Meanwhile, the old depot has been closed.
