Instructions Created by an: 86-95 Suzuki Samurai Heater Case Clean-Out (SKU# SIB-HEATERCASECLEANOUT) Installation Instructions This set, which includes a 1.5 hole saw, can be purchased through our website. Click HERE to see our hole saw set! Are you experiencing low air flow from your heater and defrost vents? Your heater core could look like this! The most common cause of low air flow is leaves and o t h e r d e b r i s falling down your hood vent into the heater core area. You are probably like many other Samurai owners who dread taking the entire heater assembly apart and cleaning out the heater core area. Here is good news! You do not have to take it all apart. Just follow these simple and inexpensive instructions and your problem can be solved in about 30 minutes; Suggested Tools: Electric Hand Drill Hole Saw 1.5 (or 38 mm) Permanent Marker - White Vacuum Cleaner w/ hose size less than 1.5 (or 38mm) diameter. Air compressor with blow nozzle. (Optional) CAUTION: Safety glasses should be worn at all times when working with vehicles and related tools and equipment. For additional copies of these and other instructions go to: www.lowrangeoffroad and click on the Tech and Instructions tab.

Location #2 Location #1 Air Duct Step 1 Determine where to drill the hole. There are two choices; Location #1 and Location #2. It really does not matter. Location #1 is a little easier to access if you do not have a radio, CD player or CB radio in the way. If you choose Location #2 you will need to remove the air duct which is much easier than removing the radio, CD player or CB radio. We chose Location #1 for these instructions since we did not have any sound components in the way. CAUTION: Do NOT drill BELOW the red dashed line shown. If you DRILL below this line you will damage the heater core. See Figure A. If you damage the heater core you WILL have a much larger and much more expensive job on your hands. 1 1 Heater Core Shelf Step 2 Locate and mark the center of the hole with a white permanent marker. The hole should be located approximately 1 inch (or 25 mm) inward from the edge of the case and 1 inch up from the heater core shelf. Step 3 Drill the centering hole with the drill bit of the hole saw.

Clean-Out Disc Step 4 Drill the clean-out hole in the heater case using the 1.5 (or 38mm) hole saw. Note: Be sure the drill is not directed downward toward the heater core. Step 5 Be sure the clean-out disc comes out with the hole saw after drilling. Step 5 Continued This is what we saw when we looked inside our heater case. Step 6 Insert the vacuum hose in the hole and turn on the vacuum cleaner.

Step 7 Periodically remove the hose and remove any debris that may be lodged in the end of the hose. Step 8 Continue vacuuming until all debris has been removed. Step 8 Continued We found it helpful to blow air from the bottom of the heater core with an air nozzle while vacuuming through the cut-out hole in the case. Step 9 Once all the debris has been removed, remove the vacuum hose and install the supplied body plug.

Step 10 Turn the key to the ON position. Step 11 Move the heater control switch to the highest position... Step 12.... and feel the increased air flow. Replace any related parts (air ducts, sound system components, etc.) removed during this repair and put your tools away. Congratulations! You have successfully cleaned out your heater core case.
