INSTALL Look for this icon throughout this catalogue to find Innovative products, custom designed by RAB Design Lighting for ease of installation. vs. Traditional Lighting LEDs or light emitting diodes are a form of solid state lighting that is very efficient, cost effective and long lasting. We have been manufacturing quality LED lighting fixtures for more than 10 Years. During that time, there have been significant advancements in technology and LEDs are now used in many more lighting applications than ever. LED lighting will continue to evolve and continue to replace existing forms of lighting. Below are some of the more important benefits of LEDs. BENEFITS OF LONG LIFE: LED s have an operational life time expectation of 50,000-100,000 hours versus 10,000-40,000 for HID lamps and an average of 2,000-5,000 for Incandescent lamps. If we assume lights are burning for 10 hours per day, LEDs will last at least 11 years longer than HID, resulting in significant reduction in maintenance costs. ENERGY EFFICIENT: With considerably reduced wattages providing the same light output, energy savings is substantial when compared to traditional lighting. In addition, LEDs do not create the heat that traditional lighting does, making them even more cost efficient as air conditioning use can be reduced. DURABILITY: LEDs have no filament so they can withstand a greater amount of vibration and shock than traditional lighting, making them ideal for rough conditions with exposure to weather, wind and rain. LIGHTING ECOLOGICALLY FRIENDLY: LEDs contain no toxic materials unlike traditional lighting which may contain mercury or harmful gases. COMPACT SIZE: LEDs can be extremely small in size, making them ideal to use in compact areas. INSTANT ON: LEDs brighten up immediately when powered on, unlike some traditional lighting fixtures. As well, LED lights can be frequently switched on and off, without affecting the LED s lifetime. NO UV EMISSIONS: LED lighting produces almost no UV emissions, making them ideal for lighting UV sensitive objects. COLD TEMPERATURE OPERATION: Unlike fluorescent lighting, LED lighting thrives in colder environments, making them ideal for outdoor northern climates and colder areas such as freezer rooms.
