AquaLiv Water System - Usage & Installation Instructions Congratulations on your purchase of an AquaLiv Water System the most complete and comprehensive water purification and enhancement system available today! The AquaLiv Water System produces water just as nature intended. Our holistic process naturally removes harmful pathogens and toxins including sodium fluoride while carefully preserving the natural and beneficial minerals that other water treatment options like reverse osmosis can strip away. AquaLiv also creates a healthful, stable alkaline ph that water ionizers fail to achieve. Our carefully structured alkaline water surpasses the competition because it is the only system that utilizes BioT Bioinformation Technology. Much more than a common water filter or ionizer, Aqualiv Water incorporates the advanced science of "water memory" to encompass every aspect of what perfect water should be. AquaLiv hydrates the body rapidly, boosts metabolism, increases circulation and blood oxygen levels, and has a cleansing effect within the body. This guide will help you get your AquaLiv Water System set up and running. Please turn to the next page to get started. Enjoy the water! WARRANTY Your AquaLiv Water System is warrantied against material defects and errors in workmanship for a period of fifteen (15) years. This warranty does not cover damage to the system or any property damage caused by improper installation, including flood and/or water damage. All plumbing systems should be inspected periodically after installation to ensure an absence of leaks that may result in damage to surrounding areas. 1

DAILY USE Some parts of the AquaLiv process require the water to be moving, while other parts require the water to be static. Therefore, it will take 24 hours of normal use for the system to charge up and up to a week of normal use for maximum power. NOTE: After a new installation, the water may taste heavily of minerals or somewhat bitter for 2-3 weeks. This is normal, as it takes some time for the elements of the AquaLiv Water System to become conditioned to the source water. AquaLiv suggests a 5-minute flush once a day for the first week of use to help alleviate this condition. If the bitterness persists, continue the daily flush. If the off-taste is still apparent after three weeks, please contact AquaLiv at 1-800-794-6976 for assistance. The AquaLiv Water System is designed for a household of up to six persons drinking water regularly or filling personal-sized water bottles. Up to one gallon can be taken at once, however, taking more will result in less enhanced water. If a gallon or more is taken at once, the system should be allowed to recharge for at least an hour before reuse. Modules #1 & #3 (the smaller Modules) will require a filter change every 12 months or 1000 gallons whichever comes first or if the water begins to flow very slowly. The replacement procedure can be found on the last page of this manual. To order replacement filters call AquaLiv at 1-800-794-6976 or visit InCleanHealth.com. Modules #2 & #4 (the large black tanks) require no maintenance. Attempts to open the tanks may damage the heads and require replacement of the Modules. Please contact AquaLiv, Inc. with any questions you may have, or visit AquaLiv.net for comprehensive system information. 2

CHECK YOUR SYSTEM: Please check your shipping box to make sure that all system components shipped properly. If any Modules are missing or appear to have been damaged in transit please contact AquaLiv Inc. at 1-800-794-6976 for assistance. INSTALLATION AquaLiv suggests that you have your AquaLiv Water System installed by a professional plumber. However, anyone with handy-person skills and a few basic tools can accomplish the task. It is best to remove all under-sink contents before continuing with installation. If installing faucet where a dishwasher air-gap/vent currently resides, simply tie up the air-gap at the highest point available in the under-sink cabinet. Ensure this level is at least a few inches above the drain connection point of the dishwasher. AquaLiv Inc. is not responsible for any damage resulting from improper installation, re-routing of existing fixtures, or violations of local plumbing codes. Only perform the installation yourself if you feel comfortable with the job and take full responsibility for your work. If unsure, call a professional plumber for assistance. TOOLS REQUIRED: Power Drill/Screwdriver w/ 1/4 & 5/16 Hex-Sockets Faucet Wrench Drill or Hole-Cutter for Faucet (if no hole currently exists) Utility Knife & Cutting Board (for shortening flexible tubing, if needed) Filter Support Block (a thick book or piece of 2X4 lumber works well see STEP #4) Small adjustable wrench and/or small Chanellock-type pliers INSTALLATION: STEP #1: Cold water connection valve installation Your AquaLiv Water System was shipped with a cold water connection valve sized for either a 3/8 or 1/2 water connection, depending on your selection at checkout. AquaLiv highly recommends that you take the time to install the valve according to the directions on the valve packaging before performing any other assembly step. In the event that you received a valve that doesn t fit your water connection, please contact AquaLiv Inc. at 1-800-794-6976 for assistance. STEP #2: Install faucet Please follow the instructions found in your faucet box. STEP #3: Locate AquaLiv Water System Modules #1,2,3,4 in under-sink area 3. 4. Situate system Modules in under-sink cabinet. Modules #1 & #3 are wall mounted, and often the best place to install each one is a few inches back from the cabinet opening (SEE PHOTO NEXT PAGE). This allows for easy filter element changes in the future. All Modules must be connected with the flexible tubing included. The OUT from one Module will be connected to the IN of the next Module. Ensure the preferred position of the Modules is possible within the length of the 36 flexible tubing units. The IN of Module #1 will be connected to the cold water supply line. The OUT of Module #4 will be connected to the AquaLiv faucet. NOTE: Module locations must allow for the included flexible tubing to make gradual bends no sharp bends or 90-degree angles (SEE PHOTO NEXT PAGE). If everything looks like it will fit together without problems, please continue to Step #4. If not, re-arrange Modules. Note: At this point, please remove the black rubber caps from the module fittings. 4

Typical Installation Detail of proper gradual tube bends STEP #4: Mount AquaLiv Water System Modules #1 & #3 Set Module on a thick book or 2x4 section (anything at least 5 inches high) to raise it while attaching the bracket to cabinet wall. NOTE: Allow at least 5 inches of free space below the Modules for annual filter cartridge replacement (SEE PHOTO ABOVE). Using a power screwdriver and hex-sockets, attach Modules #1 & #3 to cabinet walls using included Hex-Head screws. Use a low torque setting to prevent the screws from stripping out the holes. STEP #5: Connecting the Cold Water Supply to Module #1 Connect water supply to Module #1 INLET by simply pressing flexible tubing into hole firmly until seated about 5/8 of tubing will slide into the fitting. IMPORTANT: Tubing that is not fully inserted will leak. NOTE: Shorten all tubing as needed by using a sharp utility knife and a cutting board. Cuts must be perpendicular to tubing-length and be burr-free. Messy cuts can result in leaks. OPTIONAL STEP: Installing the Digital Filter Life Indicator Locate a spot on the tubing between the cold water supply and the Module #1 INLET where the Digital Filter Life Indicator will be located. The position should be easy to reach. Mark the location on the tubing, then remove the tubing from the cold water connection and the Module #1 INLET, and cut the tubing at the marked location. NOTE: Flexible tubing is removed from quick-connect fittings by pulling out on tubing while simultaneously pushing in on the collet (ring) surrounding the tubing. (cont.) 5

3. Install the cut pieces of tubing into the Digital Filter Life Indicator and reinstall the tubing into the cold water connection and Module #1 INLET. NOTE: the arrow printed on the Indicator indicates water flow water should flow FROM the cold water connection TO Module #1 INLET. Proceed to Step #6. STEP #6: Filling and Flushing AquaLiv Water System Modules #1 & #2 Connect Modules 1 & 2 according to the diagram below: IMPORTANT: The Tubing/Flow Restrictor assembly MUST be installed between Modules 1 & 2, with the arrow on the Flow Restrictor body pointing TOWARDS Module 2 3. Open the system faucet fully and slowly turn on the water supply to the AquaLiv Water System. IMPORTANT: Watch for leaks and be ready to shut off cold water supply. After air has exited the system, water will begin to flow smoothly. IMPORTANT: Allow water to flow for 10 minutes. STEP #7: Filling and Flushing AquaLiv Water System Modules #3 & #4 Shut off cold water supply. Shut off faucet. (order matters shut off supply first) Configure the system according to the diagram below. IMPORTANT: Modules 3 & 4 are connected OUTLET to OUTLET for this step. NOTE: Flexible tubing is removed from quick-connect fittings by pulling out on tubing while simultaneously pushing in on the collet (ring) surrounding the tubing. (cont.) 6

3. 4. 5. Turn on faucet. Turn on water supply to the AquaLiv Water System. IMPORTANT: Watch for leaks and be ready to shut off cold water supply. Once trapped air has exited the system, water will begin to flow smoothly. Once that occurs, shut off water supply and then shut off faucet when the water flow stops. On Module #4, switch the INLET and OUTLET lines. IMPORTANT: The modules should now be connected according to the diagram below: 6. Turn on faucet, then turn on the water supply to the AquaLiv Water System and allow water to flow for five minutes. Shut off faucet and dry off all tubing and fittings with a fresh cloth or paper towel. Wait five minutes. Feel all connections for water drops or wetness. Wetness in these areas may indicate a loose or faulty connection. NOTE: Every AquaLiv Water System ships with the water connections installed to the proper specifications to prevent leaks. However, vibration during shipping and manipulation of the fittings during installation can cause the fittings to unseat slightly. If that occurs, you may see some minor weeping (very slow, slight leaking) around the fittings (SEE PHOTO BELOW). This is not uncommon, and the weeping should stop within a day or two as water pressure inside the system re-seats the fittings. If the weeping continues for more than two days, please contact AquaLiv Inc. at 1-800-794-6976 for assistance. Slight weeping on Module #3 INLET 7

STEP #8: Continue to inspect for leaks over the next few days to weeks Leaks can develop with time. Be sure to inspect the system and entire under-sink area with a flashlight. AquaLiv Inc. is not responsible for leak or flood damage of any kind. Be vigilant. NOTE: After a new installation, the water may taste heavily of minerals or somewhat bitter for 2-3 weeks. This is normal, as it takes some time for the elements of the AquaLiv Water System to become conditioned to the source water. We recommend a daily 10-minute flush to help alleviate this condition. If the off-taste persists longer than three weeks, please contact AquaLiv at 1-800-794-6976 for assistance. CONGRATULATIONS! Your AquaLiv Water System in now installed! 8

ANNUAL MAINTENANCE FILTER REPLACEMENT AquaLiv Water System Modules #1 & #3 (the smaller Modules) will require a filter change every 12 months or 1000 gallons whichever comes first or if the water begins to flow very slowly. To install a new filter set: Close the cold water connection valve. Open the AquaLiv faucet. Water should exit the system and then taper off. Once the water has stopped flowing, close the AquaLiv faucet. 3. Prep the areas beneath the filter housings with towels to catch spillage. 4. Use the filter housing wrench to loosen the housings. NOTE: The housings unthread counter-clockwise when seen from the bottom. Facing head-on, the housings should be turned to the left. Once loosened, the housings should be unscrewed by hand. Discard the used filters. 5. Use a thin, blunt object (such as the tip of a butter knife) to lift the black o-rings from the inside of the filter housings. NOTE: Do not press directly on the o-rings, which may damage them. Slide the blunt object along the side of the o-ring only. 6. Examine the o-rings for cracks or splits. If any damage is found contact AquaLiv, Inc. for replacement. Clean the old lubricant from the o-ring by gently running it through a folded paper towel. 7. Remove the old lubricant from the o-ring channels by running the corner of a folded paper towel along the length of each channel. 8. Wash the interior of the housings with soap and a bottle brush. Rinse well. 9. Re-lubricate the o-rings with a very thin layer of the included food-grade silicone lubricant. 10. Replace the o-rings in their channels, making sure that no debris is in the channel or has become stuck to the o-ring. Make sure that the o-ring sits flat in its channel. 1 Unwrap the filters, place them into the filter housings and replace them in this order, making sure that the filter cartridge cap sits over the alignment pipe at the bottom of the housing: 5-micron pre-filter to #1 KDF/GAC (S) or KDF/BC (F) to S or F. IMPORTANT: The molded arrow on the cartridge MUST point to the open end of the housing. 0.5-micron post-filter to #3 1 Gently thread the housings back onto the caps, making sure they screw on evenly. Tighten by hand. 13. Once the housings have been hand-installed, use the filter housing wrench to tighten them approximately 1/8 turn more. This will seat the o-rings properly. 14. Use a cloth or paper towels to dry the housings and under-sink area. 15. Open the AquaLiv faucet. 16. Open the cold water connection valve and allow the system to run for five minutes before shutting off the AquaLiv faucet. Check for leaks around the filter housings. If any housing is leaking, turn off the cold water connection valve, open the AquaLiv faucet to relive pressure, use the filter housing wrench to tighten the housing again, and then turn on the cold water. If the leak persists, remove the housing and examine the o-ring for debris or damage. DIGITAL FILTER LIFE INDICATOR RESET If you ordered the optional Digital Filter Life Indicator with your system, it will sound an alarm after 12 months have elapsed or 1000 gallons have passed through the filters. When the alarm sounds, the filters should be replaced according to the instructions above. To reset the Digital Filter Life Indicator, simply press the Reset button next to the display window. 9
