1 Purpose This technical manual describes propellant properties required to operate a 2G Energietechnik combined heat and power plant. 2G Energietechnik products are to be fuelled only with gases which are not flammable in the state in which they exist outside of the motor (interface mixer connection). If necessary, additional plant specific measures must be taken in accordance with all applicable regulations (e.g. monitoring / regulation of oxygen concentrations in the gas emergency shut-down). For an intentional standstill of the plant (e.g. for repairs, maintenance and emergencies), a manual shut-off device outside the machine room must be provided, at best at the point where the gas line enters the machine room. The manual shut-off device is to be installed so that it cannot be operated by an unauthorised person. This applies especially so that the device cannot be moved to the open position from the locked position. It is the responsibility of the operating company to equip the fuel gas system with the required devices, to ensure that there are no leaks in the system and to ensure that all applicable regulations are fulfilled. 2 Safety information Malfunctions arising from a build-up of condensate in the available propellants are not covered under the guarantee. This is not the case if the scope of delivery contractually agreed with 2G Energietechnik expressly includes a gas dryer. Evaporated accompanying substances (which only occur in liquid form under certain circumstances) do not as a rule damage the motors. (This of course does not apply to gas components such as halogen and sulphur compounds, etc. which are known to cause damage.) As a matter of experience, malfunctions caused by inadequately dry gas usually occur outside of the actual motor in fittings, devices and piping. These malfunctions must be taken seriously. To ignore them can lead to serious motor malfunctions sooner or later. 2G-TA 04 Gas (engl.) 12.07.2011 Edition: 1.1 5 of 8

3 Effects of condensate in the propellant Properties of the condensate: Acidic water and gas compressor cylinder oil form an emulsion Corrosion ( wear) TAN enrichment or ph reduction in the oil Carbon deposits on the: valves, piston ring grooves and slits 4 Preventing malfunctions caused by condensate in the propellant Preventing vapor formation by cooling and/or releasing. Mechanical separation (e.g. with the use of a cyclone or separator filter) and siphoning off of the condensate. The gas line to the motor is to be designed so that the gas does not cool further and is effectively not further decompressed by resistance or downstream pressure reducer. (If necessary, isolate the propellant line or equip it with an auxiliary heating element). Because, despite the absence of condensate build-up, a certain amount of condensate can still get into the motor, it is important that the condensate is largely free of acidifiers. To be certain, the ph value of the water extract collected by the condensate separators must be checked. The stronger the acid, the more damaging it can be, even with hardly detectable amounts of condensate, which can nevertheless get into the motor with the gas. 6 of 8 2G Energietechnik GmbH
