Ontario Wood & IDS Special Feature Ontario Wood is an initiative to help consumers identify and purchase locally made Ontario Wood products. Ontario s forests offer a wide variety of wood species with characteristics suitable for many needs. Local manufacturers produce everything from structural lumber to flooring, furniture, log homes and artisan goods. Ontario Wood is the natural choice for designers seeking to achieve the balance between function, beauty, versatility and performance. IDS16 Installation
Purpose To create an installation that showcases, educates and pushes the boundaries of the local material, while highlighting the works of selected Ontario Wood partners. Project Brief Overview The objective of the Ontario Wood call for submission is to select a team to design, build and install a temporary installation at IDS17 (January 19-22, 2017, Metro Toronto Convention Centre). The Interior Design Show (IDS) is Canada s premier showcase of new products, innovative designers and avant-garde concept from North America and beyond. This past year, over 52,000 trade professionals, affluent consumers and media attended the event to see information source new products and to be inspired. The winning design team will receive up to $20,000 to realize the project, inclusive of all costs and duties involved with the installation including but not limited to design, management, transportation to and from, lighting & electrical, rigging, supervision, installation, dismantling, disposing of materials and any damage to the show floor or other parts of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Some costs may be offset by Ontario Wood partners providing, setting up, dismantling, etc. their own products. Installation/Team must abide by all IDS Exhibitor Kit regulations and deadlines. Details Floor space provided is up to 30' X 58' (raw space). Must incorporate 10-20 Ontario Wood partners. The selection of partners will be at the discretion of the design team; a list of interested Ontario Wood partner is in the appendix. The design must incorporate signage/credit of all partners of the space in a meaningful way. Move in date/time: Sunday Jan 17, 8am-11am (time to report to the marshaling yard) Installation to be complete by 8pm Wed Jan 21. Exhibit must be staffed at all times during show hours. Ontario Wood staff will be at exhibit at all times during show hours, and partners must be able to be on the premise as well. The IDS operations team must give prior approval to the selected design, final drawings to be submitted by end of October 2016. Within the exhibit space Brand/Logo must be prominently included. Marketing Provided by IDS Team Promote the selected design team as the partner of the Ontario Wood special feature, Marketing support (namely, logo identification and/or editorial on the Ontario Wood installation) in the following: Preview Guide: editorial will be dedicated to the feature (150,000 copies distributed with The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star, Designlines and on site). IDS website: one page Virtual Press Office (VPO) and press releases (opportunity to post bio/photos/press releases). Social media including Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook (partner to provide content a few weeks prior). Extended exhibitor listing on the IDS website. Other opportunities as they arise (i.e. project video and targeted media). Provide 10 complimentary tickets to the public days and 8 complimentary tickets to the opening preview reception. Ontario Wood Partners for IDS17 Ontario Wood partners were notified of a Request for Proposals to design a feature space at IDS17. To offer a potential designer a wide array of product no pre-qualifying or judgements were made by the Ontario Wood team.
