TS93 EMF SERIES 1 Each hold open (HO) unit contains a door closer and track assembly with hold open solenoid. The unit can be connected directly to a fire control panel. 1) Read the entire instruction sheet prior to installation and refer to NFPA 72E. Standards may be obtained from THE NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION, Batterymarch Park, Quincy, MA., 02269. 2) Reference the unit carton for mounting style and voltage. 3) Prepare door and frame for fasteners using the appropriate template. Mark, drill and tap holes as indicated. If surface wiring is used, omit 7/8" hole for wire access. CAUTION: SEX NUTS ARE REQUIRED FOR ATTACHMENT OF COMPONENTS TO UNREINFORCED DOORS AND TO WOOD OR PLASTIC FACED COMPOSITE TYPE FIRE DOORS, UNLESS AN ALTERNATIVE METHOD IS IDENTIFIED IN THE INDIVIDUAL DOOR MANUFACTURER'S LISTINGS. 2 Attach mounting plate to door, using lower four holes in plate. Use upper four holes for optional mounting. Arrows on plate face the top of the door. (4) METAL DOORS WOOD DOORS TS93T AND TS93DE www.dorma-usa.com 1-800-23-8483 INS NO. END 14 Final Installation and Test. 1) After the installation is completed, recheck all the connections. Then apply power to the units. 2) Open door so slide block engages with the hold open assembly. 3) Advise fire officials prior to testing the unit. 4) Activate the system into alarm so solenoids release and the doors close. ) If the closer is used in conjunction with a dectectored unit, trip the test switch of the main closer dectector as explained in the test procedure for that unit. After a short time delay, the hold open solenoid of both units will release and the doors will closel. Resetting the test switch will allow the units to return to standby. 1 IMPORTANT: THE UNIT MUST BE TESTED AFTER THE INSTALLATION, BY THE END USER, TO ASSURE THAT THE DOOR CLOSER UNITS FUNCTION PROPERLY WHEN THE ALARM SYSTEM IS ACTIVATED. THE ENTIRE SYSTEM MUST ALSO BE TESTED PERIODICALLY AFTER THE INITIAL INSTALLATION TEST, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE TESTING OF THE FIRE ALARM SYSTEM. THE END USER IS ALOS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ADJUSTMENTS AND MAINTENANCE TO RETAIN THE SYSTEM IN WORK ORDER 16 OPERATION: NORMAL - The closer unit's solenoid will be energized across a normally closed alarm contact applying, 24VDC, 24VAC or 120VAC power supply based on unit voltage. FIRE ALARM - When the alarm sounds, the alarm contact will open and interrupt current to the solenoid which releases the hold open and allows the door closer to shut the door ELECTRICAL SPECIFICATIONS: Voltage Input - 24VDC +10% - 1% Maximum Input Current - 24VDC 170mA - 24VAC +10% - 1% - 24VAC 170mA - 120VAC +10% - 1% - 120VAC 33mA INS NO. 0828091 PAGE 6 of 7 Rev. 03/10
