Minimax: Quality leadership Minimax Quality leadership in portable fire extinguishers Version: December 2016 Photography and illustrations design stauss grillmeier, München: Seite 3, 4, 5, 11 and 17 istock: Seite 19 and 20 Quality leadership is our requirement. This applies to the development and production of optimal portable fire extinguishers, excellent carrying out of maintenance and service for our customers and of course training of users for the real thing as well. Workmanship, functionality and design are an expression of the highest quality. To this end we provide the right prerequisites and get this: Manufacturing with the widest production depth in Bad Urach, Germany, which makes it possible to maintain a direct dialogue between the development, manufacturing and service divisions and integrate the Minimax fire extinguishing systems into the overall system of the Minimax Group, with more than 8,000 highly trained employees worldwide. In this brochure we would like to introduce to you the following subjects which document our requirement for quality leadership in the area of portable fire extinguishers: Minimax: History of Innovation Minimax: Made in Bad Urach Minimax: Life Cycle Minimax: Product Graphics Minimax: Single-Handed Control Minimax: Stand Pins Minimax: Internal Coating Minimax: Extinguishing Agents Minimax: Fair To The Environment Minimax: An Overview of Fire Extinguishers Minimax: Quality leadership 2 I 3

Minimax: History of Innovation Historical products from the start of the 20th century up to the 1970s (Minimax archive, Bad Urach) Minimax has been producing fire extinguishers for a long time: over 110 years. Minimax brought the first mass-produced portable fire extinguisher in large numbers on to the market, the so-called Spitztüte. Even this conical red-painted model with a striking button on the underside and a jet nozzle on the tip was distinguished - like all successive models at Minimax - by single-handed operation. However we do not just rely on our successful history but work ceaselessly on putting the best extinguishing equipment into our customers hands. Then as now we offer impressive quality so that our customers can always rely on us and our products. Founding of Minimax, 1902 Over 110 years of company history Innovation leader via technology and ergonomics Permanent research and product development Production in Germany (Made in Germany) Minimax portable cornet bag (Spitztüte) approx. 1920 Minimax portable fire extinguisher from the current series Minimax: History of Innovation 4 I 5

Minimax: Made in Bad Urach, Germany Minimax develops and produces its products in Bad Urach. Close collaboration of employees in development, production, distribution, service and disposal and the enormous production depth at our site mean we can always guarantee the highest quality: Portable fire extinguishers with an optimal coordination of extinguishing agents and product hardware. Our successes always remind us that quality leadership can only be attained with continuous further development. Optimum combination of the extinguishing agents with the hardware In-house development In-house production with enormous depth of production Combined expertise of all employees on site Production in Bad Urach Minimax is a dynamic company that is permanently working on technical progress in the area of portable fire extinguishers. Minimax: Made in Bad Urach, Germany 6 I 7

Minimax: Life Cycle Manufacture of portable fire extinguishers with enormous production depth in Bad Urach Purchase, set up, training and use Right from the development stage, materials and extinguishing agents are incorporated which are ecologically harmless and can be recycled. Because Minimax looks after its products over their entire life cycle. It begins with the production in Bad Urach with the highest production depth in Germany. To this is added delivery and set-up of the products and training of the customers. Minimax takes on service and maintenance for its customers so that they can always rely on their portable fire extinguishers. At the end of the equipment service life, Minimax takes the products back and disposes of extinguishing agents and components professionally and certifiably, because ecological issues and life cycle management are taken seriously at Minimax. The customers can be sure of having acquired and set up a harmless product. Life Cycle Management Development in Bad Urach Production in Bad Urach Training, service and maintenance by competent employees Return of old equipment Certified disposal of extinguishing agents and equipment Minimax: Life Cycle 8 I 9

Minimax: Product Graphics Even non-professionals can understand the operating instructions at first go, which makes a successful extinguishing very probable. Labeling in high-strength, non-fading silkscreen printing (no adhesive sheets) Proprietary pictograms developed in-house Typography with outstanding legibility Minimax portable fire extinguishers have an integrated operating concept that stretches from ergonomics via visual clarity of the controls to product graphics with the user instructions. The operating concept is the same for all Minimax portable fire extinguishers. When the real thing happens, pictures are easier to understand than descriptions. Furthermore pictures are not bound to languages or cultural spaces. Minimax has drawn up its illustrations and pictograms, which significantly simplify the arrangement of functions and processes, with the Munich design office Stauss Grillmeier. Minimax has also developed the appropriate texts for the pictograms: Clearly highlighted brief instructions are supplemented by a detailed description text. The typography provides outstanding legibility of the contents. At Minimax the product graphics are attached in a high-strength silk-screen printing process. This silkscreen printing does not fade and can withstand high loads over a long period of time. So during maintenance/service for example no costs are incurred for labeling sheets. Minimax: Product Graphics 10 I 11

Minimax: Single-Handed Control The unique pressure lever control is available in 2 versions which are optimally adapted to the particular conditions on site. Minimax: Single-Handed Control Plastic (glassfiber-reinforced plastic) (For use in the office) Minimax: Single-Handed Control Brass (For use in industry) The Minimax Single-Hand Controls follow a consistent operating concept that rests on visual clarity, error-free operability and good ergonomics. Therefore the user has to get used to just one operation for all Minimax portable fire extinguishers. This is irrespective of the extinguishing agents used in the portable fire extinguishers such as powder, foam, water and carbon dioxide. Incorrect operation is excluded as far as possible. The yellow safety catch which has to be pulled before use is set apart like a signal from the rest of the portable fire extinguisher. The first activation of the release lever activates the extinguisher and charges it. The second activation starts the extinguishing process. The Minimax single-hand control now gives the user a free hand in order to grasp the ergonomically shaped hose grip, point it at and efficiently extinguish the fire. Minimax fire extinguishers have a built-in microchip with NFC technology which provides for unambiguous identification. Specific product information such as the safety data sheet of the extinguishing agent can immediately be called up via NFC-capable Smartphone via a web link on the chip. Single-handed operation of the control Consistent operating concept for all Minimax portable fire extinguishers Color-coded identification of the relevant controls Different technical versions depending on requirements Readable microchip in the control for unambiguous identification and immediate product information Minimax: Single-Handed Control 12 I 13

Minimax: Stand Pins Standard features without extra cost No build-up of moisture below the equipment, which can happen with foot rims. Slip-proof stand Protection against corrosion Maintenance of value Fire extinguishers stand or hang for years in the stand-by position. Sometimes the fire extinguishers are situated in heavily-frequented work areas or areas of high traffic in buildings, workshops and other set-ups. There the portable fire extinguishers are exposed to dust, pollution, humidity and other aggressive media. Long service life is guaranteed not only by the high-strength powder coating of the container but also in particular by the stand pins at- tached to every Minimax portable fire extinguisher which protect the bottom of the cylinder from corrosion over its entire lifetime. As a result Minimax guarantees operational safety and long maintenance of value without any extra cost. Minimax: Stand Pins 14 I 15

Minimax: Internal Coating Minimax fire extinguishers are filled with extinguishing agents specially developed for and with Minimax. The Minimax pressure containers for fire extinguishers are manufactured from a special steel alloy in order to be able to withstand the high operating pressures without restriction for long periods. Furthermore Minimax protects its wet fire extinguisher containers with a special thermoset internal coating. This guarantees a long service life and operational safety of the equipment. This way Minimax minimizes the costs for the operator, because Minimax fire extinguishers are changed over due to manifestations of corrosion less frequently than comparable commercially available products. The expenditure thus pays for itself. With wet fire extinguishers the thermoset Minimax internal coating provides for an extremely long-life cycle of the pressure containers. As Minimax Mobile Services GmbH & Co. KG has an extremely large production depth and consequently many components are produced in house, the thermoset internal coating of the pressure containers is just one module in an integrated and comprehensive corrosion protection design. The thermoset Minimax internal coating has a layer thickness of approximately 2 millimeters and is thereby durable and resistant to all extinguishing agents used. Long-life cycle of the fire extinguisher Reduction in replacement costs Thermoset inner layer Layer thickness approximately 2 millimeters Integrated corrosion protection design Minimax: Internal Coating 16 I 17

Minimax: Extinguishing Agents Deep fat fryer extinguishers Charging device WF 3nG Fire classifications A, B and F Foam extinguisher Charging device WS 6nM green Fire classifications A and B Water extinguisher Charging device WU 6nG blue+ Fire classification A Powder extinguisher Continuous pressure device DS 6iM Fire classifications A, B and C Carbon dioxide extinguisher Continuous pressure device CS 5c Fire classification B Depending on their specific reaction to fire, flammable materials are organized into fire classifications. Fires of liquid materials or materials turning to liquid Examples: Petrol, benzene, oils, greases, paint, tar, stearin, paraffin Metal fires Examples: Aluminum, Magnesium, lithium, sodium, potassium and their alloys Fires of solid material (mainly of an organic nature), normally burning under a formation of embers Examples: Wood, paper, straw, textiles, coal, car tyres Fires involving gases Examples: Methane, propane, hydrogen, acetylene, natural gas, town gas Fires of edible oils and -fats (plant or animal oils and fats) in deep-frying- and fat-baking devices and other cooking equipment and -appliances Minimax is a full-service provider in the area of portable fire extinguishers that manufactures powder-, water-, foam- and carbon dioxide fire extinguishers. These can be used to cover fire classifications A, B, C, D and F. Consequently Minimax can offer portable fire extinguishers for all areas of use and industries. Therefore even complex businesses from administration via production right up to chemical plants can be equipped with products from Minimax, which greatly facilitates training, service and maintenance. Minimax fire extinguishers are particularly efficient and productive. But in the use of extinguishing agents Minimax also takes protection of the environment very seriously. The Blue- and GreenLine fire extinguishers show that efficiency and environmental friendliness do not have to be incompatible. All extinguishing agents All fire classifications All industries Minimax is a full-service provider This greatly facilitates training, service and maintenance Minimax: Extinguishing Agents 18 I 19

Minimax: Fair to the Environment In view of the continuous increase of the world population, the protection of the environment and the careful, responsible use of our natural resources are becoming increasingly important. This reinforces the need to create products in a more environmentallyfriendly manner, while offering innovative solutions at the same time. Minimax Blue- and GreenLine fire extinguishers combine efficiency and environmental friendliness. BLUELINE All BlueLine water extinguishers fight class A fires without the use of any surfactants. The fire extinguisher class is divided on the basis of the extinguishing agent used into two series, Blue+ and Blue. Blue+ series The Blue+ series of water fire extinguishers contain water as an extinguishing agent There are no prescribed replacement intervals for the extinguishing agent. GREENLINE All foam extinguishers of the GreenLine reliably fight fires of classifications A and B. The extinguishing agents have a maximum fluorine content of just 0.04 % and are biologically readily decomposable. The fire extinguisher class is divided on the basis of the extinguishing agent used into two series, Green+ and Green. Green+ series For the Green+ tube fire extinguisher series only the AFFF concentrate in the tube is subject to prescribed replacement intervals over the life time of the fire extinguisher and not the water located in the tank. This feature has a positive impact on the maintenance effort required and is environmentally-friendly at the same time. Green+ series For the Green tube fire extinguisher series likewise only the AFFF concentrate in the tube is subject to prescribed replacement intervals and not the water with salt located in the tank. All Green series fire extinguishers have a very impressive extinguishing performance. Blue series The extinguishing agent hydroxol blue is an aqueous solution containing materials that are biologically readily decomposable There are no prescribed replacement intervals for the extinguishing agent. The hydroxol blue extinguishing agent achieves the same extinguishing performance for class A fires as powerful foam extinguishing agents. Minimax: Fair to the Environment 20 I 21
