Guidelines There are numerous standards that need to be considered for the construction of buildings and specifi - cally for air handling units. bösch knows the relevant guidelines for the manufacturing of air handling units and has the necessary expertise to implement them accordingly. The housing excelled in all areas with top marks. This was in theareas of thermal bridges, heat loss, air tightness and mechanical strength of the housing with the outstanding values of TB2, T2, L1 and D1. The 70 achieved even better results with TB1 (thermal bridge) and T1 (temperature loss). Thermal bridges TB2 35 120 temperature measuring points in all relevant areas have confirmed that each individual measuring point reached TB2. Airtight housing L1 35 The air leakage of the housing was tested under two different conditions and once again the housing achieved best values (-400 Pa with 0.05 l/sm² and +700 Pa with 0.08 l/sm²). Temperature loss T2 35 To determine the temperature loss through the housing walls, the temperature difference between the inside and outside of the housing was measured. According to the heat output a heat transfer coefficient of 0.9 W/m²K was then established. Mechanical stability D1 35 At pressure conditions between -2,500 Pa and +2,500 Pa the deflection of the housing may only be minimal (no permanent deformation). 35 has proved itself in the test with excellent values of 1.2 mm/m at +1,000 Pa pressure. 2

bösch Optima ME air handling units The perfect answer to the EPBD2012 (energy performance of building directive) to reduce global warming HEATER Low pressure hot water heat exchanger for heating the air by about 4 degrees Kelvin, designed for heat pump temperatures. Planning Guidelines The bösch Optima ME air handling units are designed according to the current EN DIN and EN ÖNORM standards The requirements of the Passivhausinstitut (institute for zero emission houses) and the German institute of building-technology only refer to the energy consumption of the air handling unit. In the beginning these require ments where only meant for small air handling units such as those used for apartments and single family houses. The guidelines for the heat recovery rate and the fan power consumption can t be compared with the EN-Standards. The housing quality and the hygiene aspects are not taken into consideration. The Optima ME air handling units are designed for central and semi-central ventilation systems. The advantages over single room ventilations are: Quick and easy maintenance as only one device needs to be serviced Cost-efficient maintenance and can be serviced at any time High efficiency factor for fans, heat exchanger and filters Use and implementation of industrial components Strict noise requirements are easily achieved The device has the leakage class L1 and the plate heat exchanger has an internal leakage of <0.2% at dp = 250 Pa. There is no need to increase the air volume as there is no leakage and no odor transfer. The thermal transfer of the aluminum plate heat exchanger can be regulated through a face / bypass damper system. Thus, free night cooling is possible. The air volume can be controlled in steps or continuously. The stepped control strategy has three steps (day/night/ party). The continuous controlled strategy is implemented in case of air quality or demand control as well as pressure control where different zones are in use. bösch offers control strategies for a number of advanced applications. 11
