Tradition & Technology Together. Working For You. Packaged Refrigeration Systems
PACKAGED REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS Vilter offers packaged refrigeration systems to meet any need. These complete, factory-engineered and assembled systems are designed to meet your specific requirements and address your unique cooling problems. Vilter s Packaged Refrigeration Systems provide: SIGNIFICANT SAVINGS Vilter s Packaged Refrigeration Systems save you on-site assembly costs. VILTER S EXPERTISE Vilter s technical and engineering staff design a complete system specific to your requirements. Fabrication and assembly is done by union specialists with quality tools to ensure exact alignment and a clean, leak-free system. AUTOMATIC CONTROLS Master electrical control panels are mounted directly on your system. Completely factory-wired and tested, the unit is ready to go when it arrives at the job site. SPACE SAVINGS The compact design of the packaged unit permits your architect to design a much smaller mechanical equipment room. The modern machine room takes on a new appearance because all the equipment has been factory-built onto a single, structural steel base which is located in the center of the room with aisle space around it. MOBILITY With rapidly changing process requirements, the need to change or revise your mechanical room means you need easy mobility. With all the equipment mounted on a single base, your system can be moved out just as easily as it was moved in. TIME SAVINGS As your machine room foundation is being constructed, your Vilter system is simultaneously being built in our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, saving you on total project time. VILTER S OUTSTANDING WARRANTY & SERVICE Vilter s Packaged Refrigeration Systems carry a factory warranty second-to-none, and our factorytrained refrigeration engineers are available for installation and start-up. CUSTOM APPLICATIONS Whatever your need, Vilter has the technical and engineering expertise to assist with your unique application. Vilter specializes in designing custom packages that meet exact temperature requirements for cooling liquids or gases. Air Conditioning Food Plant Engine Rooms Air Drying Ammonia Fertilizer Plants Anodizing Processes Beverage Carbonizing Cable Cooling Carbon Dioxide Condensing Cheese Storage Freeze Driers Honing Oil Cooling Hydrocarbon Condensing Rocket Fuel Production Space Age Chemical Production Tank Car Unloading Vapor Recovery And Many More FABRICATION Systems include all components of a complete refrigeration system and are mounted on structural steel bases complete with interconnecting piping per ANSI B31.5, Refrigeration Piping Code and we offer ANSI B31.3, Process Piping Code when required. All systems are pressure tested per ANSI B31.3. Our pressure vessels are built to ASME Section VIII, Unfired Pressure Vessel requirements and shell and tube heat exchangers to TEMA Standards when specified. We can supply carbon and stainless steels, copper, cupro-nickel, and titanium tube materials. Tubes are double-groove rolled and seal welded as required for the application. Vilter offers a standard line of cold packages liquid recirculating, direct expansion or flooded systems (or any combination) for all popular and alternative refrigerants, including R-507, R404A, R-407A, R-717 (Ammonia), R-290 (Propane), R-134a, R-123, R-410A, R-410B, and R-407C. PAINTS & COATINGS Vilter furnishes paints, coatings, and surface preparations to your specifications. Our standard paint is a tough alkyd resin base enamel. Our standard outdoor and chemical coating specification features a three coat system including inorganic zinc primer and polyamide epoxy finishes. Vilter also can provide special paint and coating systems to meet your unique conditions and specifications
CONTROLS AND WIRING Our systems are designed using state-of-the-art control systems including our own micro-controllers, programmable Vista Controls and Computer Control Systems. We also offer interfacing with customer s existing control systems. The units are completely wired and given a factory live area continuity test. We offer wiring to meet your specific area of installation requirements including those shown in the chart to the right. CLASS NEMA 1 NEMA 3 NEMA 3R DESCRIPTION Indoor Water tight Rain proof NEMA 3S Sleet proof NEMA 4 * Hosedown proof NEMA 4X * Hosedown proof (corrosion resistant) NEMA 7 Explosion proof (gases) NEMA 9 Explosion proof (dust) NEMA 12 Oil and dust tight * Air Purging is Available for Division II hazardous areas and/or corrosive areas The mamoth two-story system pictured above is complete with (2) VRS-700 screw compressors. Each compressor produces 130 tons of refrigeration. The flooded chiller uses -17 F ammonia to chill ethylene glycol. The system was installed outdoors and the controller is suitable for NEMA 4X. Pictured above is a three-piece system used in the production of a bleach solution for the paper industry. The two compressor skids and single vessel skid are designed for highway travel. (2) VRS-2200 compressors, a water cooled condenser, receiver, flooded R-22 chiller make up this highly specialized packaged refrigeration system. This VSM-301 package produces 44 F ammonia to cool a nitrogen stream from 9 F to 40 F. The flooded chiller has stainless steel tubes rated to 475 psi. The paints, coatings, and controls are suitable for outdoor duty.
ated to Pictured left is a VSS compressor package mounted on a structural steel base. The oil separator, receiver, flooded chiller, suction header, dual oil filters, and lines are covered by insulation for outdoor duty. Note the stainless steel micro-controller and white paint. Both are optional. SPECIAL ENVIRONMENTS Vilter Packaged Refrigeration Systems can be equipped for explosionproof environments, outdoor duty or other special environments. Standard outdoor trim options can include: Larger crankcase heaters Constant liquid pressure control systems Special surface preparation and paint Weatherproof gauges Weatherproof wiring Weatherproof control panels Heater in control cabinet to prevent condensation Weather resistant covering for insulated vessels and lines Heat tracing on oil lines and filters VILTER SYSTEMS KEEP THEIR COOL Aqueous Solutions Acetic Acid Beer Brandy Calcium Chloride Dowtherm Ethanol Ethylene Glycol Methanol Orange Juice Propylene Glycol Sodium Chloride Sodium Hydroxide Sodium Nitrate Sugar Solutions Sulfuric Acid Syltherm Hydrocarbons & Petroleum Fractions Acetone/Nitrogen Benzene Butadiene Butane Cottonseed Oil Cyclohexamine/Nitrogen Ethylene Ethane Ethylene Oxide Formaldehyde Gasoline Hexane Honing Oil Kerosene Linseed Oil Liquid Rocket Fuel Melamine Solution Methane Pentane Phosgene Polyethylene Comonomer Propane Propylene Oxide Quenching Oil Soybean Oil Styrene Toluene Transformer Oil Turpentine
Tradition & Technology Together. Working For You. Seventy-Two tons of refrigeration are produced by these (2) 456XL reciprocating compressors. A flooded plate & frame chiller is cooling propylene glycol to 28 F using ammonia as the refrigerant. The package is being used by one of the world s top food producers. (On Cover) Two economized VRS-400 compressors produce 120 tons of refrigeration for an outdoor chemical duty application. A direct expansion chiller cools propylene glycol with -15 F R-22. All controls on this system are explosion proof. With a history that dates back more than 130 years, Vilter is the name to rely on for dependable, high-performance refrigeration.
